Love to here murl and Bonnie sing they are sweet

She wrote near all the songs for Haggard n took care of his kids n married for a short while. He’s not the guy for her! Very intelligent n amazing songwriter.

She deserved someone better than Haggard! He visited her some time later n she suffered from Altzheimer. Sad cause she gave so much n ended that way. He was already married to 5th wife. How he does it baffles me! Married once is enough!

They were the best of all time. Loved them both

Loved Bonnie and Merle. So good together.

Bonnie never left Merle's side. She was an awesome dedicated woman.

So was Leona a good voice , she was alot like Mearle she had that wondering eye. It was said in an interview with Mearle that Bonnie understood Mearle's downfalls when it came to women and one day seeing how he felt about Leona she just stopped coming home to Mearle. No fighting because she loved him and he loved her, but it wasn't enough for him. They remained so close until the end. 5 marriages I'm not sure exactly how many children but I know he fathered 4 boys during those relationships Scott out of wedlock, Marty, Noel, and Ben but I think there was a girl I'm not exactly sure.

Don't forget about Merle Haggard with Connie Smith singing with him. I forget the song off the top of my head BUT they were a great singing duet. Connie Smith is also a legend

This is such a classic song of Merle and Bonnie, love it😍😍

Bonnie was a sweet lady. I met her one time & it wasn't at a Haggard show. I was performing a solo act in a small club. Blah blah blah. She was there, sitting at the bar with a girlfriend. She liked my music & asked if I would like some harmony? Ofcourse, I said sure. I was humbled, to say the least. Long story short, she commenced to join me on stage for over 2 hours. She even sang a few herself. I'll never forget that night. It was in 1999, so no phone cameras. Someone did take a couple pics, from afar & I'll always treasure them. Rest in peace, Bonnie. Thanks for a great memory.

@@bradfordsmith5942 Yes she was. It blew my mind, when she walked. up & said' "hi, I'm Bonnie Owens, I'm enjoying listening to you. I'd love to sing harmony with you". Wish I woulda brought the ole camcorder, to my gig that night.

Meryl an Bonnie the love between these two is still there forever. Meryl always says he will never stop loving Bonnie an you can see it in his eyes she was his one an only true love weather on stage or off even with his other marriages. They adore one another ❤❤💋bless their hearts. Now both at rest in the lords arms in heaven singing with the rest of them with the angels choir Amen. 🙏Missing u both xx not the same. There will never be another Bonnie and Merle .

Very obvious there is still love there between them, they both have admitted still loving each other and saying "i love you", but there is no passion....sometimes that just gets in the way...LOL. I know they loved one another and what a remarkable example they set for the children they had(Bonnie and Buck's) and Merle's six children he had with wife Leona Hobbs and Theresa Lane.

Mearle told in an interview he still loved Bonnie right to the end. He said he went to see her at the clinic she stayed in for alzheimer's before she passed. Mearle was standing there talking with the doctors and she grabbed him and said come on i will show you my room. Mearle said she had a huge poster of him right over her headboard and told him that man right there is my favorite he's the best. Mearle said he almost broke down because Bonnie didn't relate him with that poster she didn't understand they were the same men.

"Miss Bonnie Owens" married Haggard twice, and was the bride's made for the wedding in between her own two marriages to the man. The abuse she suffered at the hands of of man named Buck whose band she and Merle met in explains the hatred between Haggared and Buck, guess all these people have passed away and I am an old coot arguing bout problems between dead folk.

@@valientevaliente9473 Oh yeah, There is an early autobiography Haggard published in the early 1980s or late 70s where he was pretty direct about that and about his complete personal contempt for Owens and how they have nothing to do with each other. It was pretty truthful about the kind of wild stuff he did that landed him in prison. You get a picture that his association with Bonnie was him growing up as a person and as an artist.

the grass wasnt greener with Leona or whatever her name was but Bonnie was never completely gone through the marriage to Leona. The grass is never greener., Haggard confessed he had other idea about his life like really becoming an Opry type star and moving to Nashville that were connected to that marriage, and it was kind of like a vacation from being himself. When that was over he did get back with Bonnie for years, and like I say Bonnie was never out of the picture in all ways during the few years of it,

@@bevearle3984 yes apparently in all senses of the word love. One has to remember that Merle rescued her as a person from the deeply abusive marriage that she had with Buck Owens and crossed a line from being a sideman in Owens band who was moving on up with Owens support, to someone who Owens hated and whose career Owens tried to block. Despite some publicity things they had done acting nice to each other, Haggard has been pretty public in his various autobiographies that he had nothing but contempt for Buck Owens for the way he treated Bonnie and wanted nothing to do with him, even though Owens gave him a start in music.

Merle was very good to Boonie. He never abused her.

Bonnie and merle loved each other until they died. They just couldnt be married.

Did Merle and Bonnie love each other ?
