He is so good at side stepping personal questions that he doesn’t want to go into. I think that’s one of the aspects that gives him an Old Hollywood air about him. He also doesn’t use social media so there’s mystery about him. You’ll only ever know what he chooses to share and that’s rare nowadays

@@DK_75 It was too short of a scene. Not because I like seeing him shirtless (don’t get me wrong - I do!) but because I lift as well and whenever I see an actor put in the effort only to get shown for like five seconds, my lifter heart breaks. He deserved more recognition for that. (I know that’s not what the movie was about, it’s just the sportswoman in me talking).

TC's 5'10" by reports, and AB 6'. TC much skinnier than AB in sense too of no discernable male bicep muscles or upper-body heft. Maybe TC doesn't like gyms but he also doesn't have it going on naturally in the upper body. The two actors may not physically appeal across the board to the same demographics. Everybody's entitled to their opinion on who they like to watch onscreen; it's not real life (where we don't body shame regular people who aren't celebrity actors) but the magic of fantasy. Always has been that way for actors seen on the big film screen.

I loved Austin's portrayal as Feyd-Rautha. He gave the character a real visceral, evil depth. Pretty much how I envisioned him after 40 years of rereading Dune many times. The movie was visually stunning but as a fan there are other things that took away from the experience enough that I am questioning whether I will go and see the third movie.

Agreed; loved Austin Butler in Elvis. Wasn't an Elvis fan going in, didn't know much about him, but became an AB-as-EP fan after the film. You probably know this but not everyone does if they're not big film lovers. '22 Elvis starring Austin Butler made approx. 3.5x its budget on global theater release (almost $300M) and won many best acting awards including BAFTA and GG precursors to Oscars (where he was nom.). AB sang all of the early Elvis songs (correlating to when they were about the same age) and his voice was blended with Elvis tapes for the later EP years of drug use and poor health that kept changing his singing voice, since the film covered a 2-decade period. Watching his relationships with other musicians, friends, family was fascinating as well. '22 Elvis is one of the best biopics ever and w/ repeat viewings (subscription US Netflix still has it, maybe Max and Prime on subscription) I don't even mind that Tom Hanks oddly played the corrupt manager and opened the film's first 10 or so mins. until, other than AB/EP montage vignettes. we got to the good parts about Austin Butler/Elvis. I see lots of movies, and ones I like more than once, and Elvis was my favorite film of '22 as well.

Personally I don't agree with the Harkonnen aesthetic in these movies. But I DO think Butler was a fantastic choice for Feyd. He brings the unstable badboy presence that you really need for a character like Feyd-Rautha but a lesser actor would've made Feyd seem goofy and over the top. But I believed Feyd's instability, I found it very real feeling.

tbh he didn't fully capture that charm Elvis had, nor the booming baritone voice. He tried and I think it's commendable how hard he worked on it, but other actors have done better, and the fact that he kept doing the voice for interviews, and without sound effects it sounds forced & it has no resonance or actual depth, probably hurt him more with the critics than anything else. He was great in the dramatic scenes and also he's obviously handsome so I'm sure he'll go far in the business.

He always takes time to acknowledge the audience. Every single time. I've been reading the reviews and they have all been really good. No one has anything bad to say about the movie and I keep reading numerous reviews that say Austin Butler as Feyd is the standout. Looking forward to seeing Dune. I rewatched Dune 1 on Netflix
