My dear Jen, I stumbled upon your channel when I saw a video of Austin Brown covering Bring Him home. I am now a devoted fan! This almost 70 year old Indiana USA woman has loved to sing since childhood and was blessed with the gift of being able to hear harmonies and i love to sing them. I never pursued singing in any way, for many reasons, but have never lost my love of it. Listening you break down and explain the amazing intricacies of how voices work, gives me so much joy. And this may sound silly, but it causes me to love my God even more for the His incredible creation. The Bible says in Psalm 139, that we are fearfully and wonderfully made, and that means even our voices and ability to make music. May God bless you and your work.

it means so much to me as 3/4ths of my grandparents were from Georgia, so the blood is still thick in my veins....deep roots too (for America) as my family arrived in Virginia in 1688 but as soon as Georgia was granted a Royal Charter as a Crown Colony in 1734 by King George II of Great Britain, some family moved to Henry County Georgia, about 30 miles south of Atlanta, and still today, I have several hundred cousins that live there.

You definitely need to do more Home Free or their solo stuff. God I'd love to hear you sing with them. Hi Jenn, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. I love how every one of your analysis videos teaches me something new about my voice and how it works. The way you catch and are able to explain certain things that I notice too but more as a feeling is really great and help me understand what it is I’m feeling and why. About the song… I usually shy away from covers of this song simply because Ray Charles’ version is one of my absolute favourite songs ever and very few covers come even remotely close. However… this is Austin Brown so I had to… and I must admit it actually comes pretty close 🥹

If you just listen to Austin talk, then you can better understand when you hear the “r” sound, or how the vowel sounds sound. The southern accent differs by region, but I think I have always liked the accent in Georgia, and the softer accent in South Carolina. As far as his voice, he’s one of the very best in country music! Thanks so much for the details and your reference to another of their covers. You truly have a sweet sense of humor!

Hi Jen! It was good to hear your final point, that singing very high or very low are all very well, but it's what you do with it when you're there that matters. I just wish some other reactors would bear that in mind and stop fangirling (though men are the worst offenders) over extremes. To my pretty untutored ear, Austin is singing better now than ever before. A phrase like "moonlight through the pines" is just so darn beautiful that you want to hold it to you and take it out when the world seems unkind. The whole song, or rather Austin singing it, seems to have taken up residence in my brain since I heard it last week. For some reason or other, very few reactions or views for his last one, Photograph, a lovely song producing even more of those golden phrases. Perhaps you'd like to check it out. You don't have to watch the stuff about the sponsors or about building a fire in his backyard, though it is quite funny to hear Austin and Amberly saying how safe it is to build a fire about 8 feet tall, but how you shouldn't do it at home. The video was shot in Canada, where Home Free were on tour a few months ago.

Austin's arrangement here owes EVERYTHING to the 1960 Ray Charles recording, from backing string section to vocal ornament. About the only thing he chose to lose from it was the backing vocals. It's instructive to compare it to Carmichael's original big-band recording from 1930, which is MUCH more jazz than soul and taken at a medium tempo rather than the lazy one here. kzread.info/dash/bejne/aWaqrLdxea7debA.html

The concept? Austin did not conceive or write this song. It's 92 years old from 1930, by songwriter Hoagy Carmichael. This is just another great cover by the talented Mr. Brown.

Love it! You always keep it informative and with good humor. You're always delightful. Speaking of Georgia, are you familiar with Italian singer Giorgia? If not, you should really check her out.

Please react to 'A Little Help From My Friends' by Darcy Lynn Farmer. It will blow your mind. Darcy also won America's Got Talent with that performance.

Hi Jen, I've been binge watching your reactions to Home Free. I love them. There are a couple of Home Free videos that won't be part of your reaction videos. The first is the boys singing the National Anthem at a Vikings football game. m.kzread.info/dash/bejne/p2Rkz9GfddbNotI.html At the very beginning Rob hits a low note I have not heard him sing before. And of course the harmonies are so interesting.. The second one is Tim being a fool in a homemade documentary "Southerner in the Snow". m.kzread.info/dash/bejne/gpNtzbiPds-Zdag.html It is really fun. He goes to Minnesota and visits Darren Rust, HF producer and one of their arrangers. He also visits Adam Rupp. We get to see a wicked side to Adam, and that is a lot of fun. I hope you enjoy these two videos. -DJ

You need to listen to Ray Charles sing this Song. He has a lot of grit in the original classic performance. Also both have a Southern Twang to their voices! Like “Country Blues!” Must sound odd to Brits!
