Unfortunately everything you see in this city is post WW2. You will notice that there is no old part of town because the entire city of Changsha was burned to the ground in what is now known as the Wen Xi fire of November 13th 1938. Changsha was one of the few cities in China that stood on the same spot from its founding, and 2500 years of history in the city was burned to the ground and the city was literally sent back to the Stone age

@zackk7175 its because of politics. However, you can access KZread pretty easily in china though, many Chinese ppl from China has KZread, and the government doesn't do anything honestly, they kinda just encourage you to not use it; but China has many apps that substitute western apps, and they prefer Chinese ones, bc they are just used to it and has many videos from KZread too

It's so nostalgic watching this, following your camera to re-explore my hometown. I have been living in Sydney for 6 years now, and prior to this, 12 years in Singapore. Last time I visited Changsha was 5 years ago, and it has changed so much that I would be lost. Thank you for filming the mouthwatering food and the beauty of new Changsha, the night view was stunning! P.S. the island in the middle of Xiangjiang 橘子洲 was naturally formed due to sand deposition, and that's the reason the city was named 长沙, long-strip sand, or at least one of the more believiable versions of the reason behind the name of the city.

i just have to say, i have been watching you for some time now and i admire you so much. it has been a dream of mine to solo travel, especially to east asia but i keep delaying that due to my really bad social anxiety. i could never walk around a city carefree as you do, talking into a camera, people staring at me. going to restaurants alone, especially in foreign countries, where i don't know much about the food. but seeing you so confident on the streets of china makes me really want to get out there. thank you so much for sharing chinese culture, especially the food always makes my mouth water!! sending much love from germany :)

The Island called ‘橘子洲’ ‘the orange island’, It is not man-made, but existed thousands of years ago. At the earliest time, only a small part was exposed, and it looked like a long sandbar. This is also the origin of the name of the city of Changsha(长沙)(long sands).so Changsha is one of the Chinese cities that has not changed its name in more than thousands years.

Nice tour of Changsha and good job promoting the Insta360 X3 ! I really want one now ! ha ha
茶颜悦色 is definitely the one thing I like the best in Changsha. I on average ordered 4 cups each day when I visited there. What really stands out from any other milk tea is the tea flavor. Nothing comes close in Beijing. I really like 三季虫。Black tea base as 幽兰拿铁, but with higher grade black tea. When I left Changsha, I ordered my last two cups in the train station, took it on the train and I enjoyed on my way back.

the buildings lighting up was so beautiful!
Thanks Amy for taking me explore Changsha city, which I am always keen on visiting one day. The milk tea 茶颜悦色 name is very poetic and I love how they sound similar to 察言阅色 as normal 成语 as normal people would easily memorise but also express a way to appreciate the favour of tea by replacing characters with the same sound. Nice creativity here. The most successful branding idea I would say, in the bubble tea industry.

I love this video, since it's a mix of food and city walk experience.
I'm so jealous of you Amy.😢 I really want to go to Changsha again! Changsha is known for the flavors that go well with rice, so if you get the chance please do try pairing them with rice! Even a simple winter melon can be made very flavorful by the chefs in Changsha!🤤 I just wondered, maybe it’s a good choice to refer to the restaurants recommended by 绵羊料理! She's from Changsha, so she's recommending restaurants that are really good but that most tourists don't know about! Also, this island in the heart of the river is a natural formation. It is probably one of the most famous islands in China, called "橘子洲", which is famous for the poem "沁园春·长沙" written by Mao Zedong. This poem is very well written! Almost every line in the poem is famous in the Chinese cultural context. That's why Changsha gets a huge number of tourists every year during the National Day. ❤
I presume Changsha is actually named after this very thin island on the river, because Chang means Long, and Sha is sand or sandbank. So a very long sandbank is what it exactly is. I remember walking hours from the middle of the island to get to the very tip.

The sandbar in the middle of the river is 橘子洲. They used to grow oranges here, but the island has become a prime tourist destination. This island was made famous by a Mao poem and his calligraphy. The southern tip of the island has an atrocious statue of a young Mao's head without a body on a giant rock base that looks like a platter.
