    My Ex made excellent sausage rolls. I use his recipe….well what I remember. Storebought puff pastry, pork mince, beef or veal mince, grated carrot, grated potato, panko bread crumbs, salt pepper and egg, I also put a tsp of mustard powder and a tsp of garlic. halfway through I re butter the tops and sprinkle breadcrumbs on top. Always excellent.

    How many carrots and potatoes for how much meat?

  • @58Kym

    @58Kym

    9 ай бұрын

    @@Juleru Gosh, I sort of do it by eye but probably a pound of meat, 1 small potato and one small carrot (well squeezed so its not too wet). The meat is half beef/veal and half pork to about a pound or 500grams.

    Thanks Keith for taking the time to watch my video and make a comment. I’m with the CWA and when we have a large catering gig, using readymade sausages is the fastest and often most cost effective. Especially if you want to make chicken or dare I say it, vegetarian, varieties Rie

    I've added 2 tblsn of grated parsnip to this recipe and it gives a little more robust flavour to the mix. Spead on some home made chutney sauce when ready to eat. Mmm, delish!

    Hi Johnny I use Gluten Free bakery - based in Qld. On the odd occasions I’ve used ones from the supermarket - simply wise or “free from” I found you needed to knead it and roll it out. Thanks for taking the time to watch my video and give the recipe a try

    How fine should the mince be in order for the sausage meat cooks through

  • @RiesKitchen

    @RiesKitchen

    9 ай бұрын

    Hi Best results the mince should be medium. Ground beef is too coarse and needs to to minced fiber. You can use a food processor - pulse till desired. Be careful not to over work the meat in the food processor- it can activate the proteins and cause the meat to go “gluggy”. This makes it harder to work with - but will still taste great 😊 Thanks for taking the time to watch my video and ask a question Rie ❤

    Did you toast the bread crumbs

  • @RiesKitchen

    @RiesKitchen

    9 ай бұрын

    Hi Fresh breadcrumbs are best. With gf bread you fo need to dry it out before processing to stop them turning into doughy mush in the food processor- so a very light toast may be needed. If the gf bread has been in the freezer for some time it is usually dry enough. Thanks fir taking the time to watch my video and ask a question.

    😊 seems like she added salt, pepper, and maybe some dill or parsley flakes but.., I would get creative & add spices that I prefer; like curcumin, garlic, red chili powder, paprika, ginger, turmeric, maybe some Italian seasoning or bread crumbs..; use your imagination and be a little adventurous w/your spices! 😊
