I've watched several of these videos and not once have you ever hit a rabbit. Are you throwing for fun and for the camera or actually trying to hit a rabbit?

Here in my State, we can't go after rabbits with anything other than firearms or bow and arrows and only during season. Jackrabbits are fair game with anything, anytime. As I've alluded to before, mountain mahogany makes a good boomerang/rabbit stick. And using an atlatl presents a unique challenge. My question is, can you legally go after larger game (emu or kangaroo) with your boomerang? Could you use a woomera legally? And just to clarify a bit, by legally I mean are there seasons set, only certain weapons able to be used, or is anything you can hit anywhen fair game?

The season is always open on rabbits here Jason as they are a feral pest that the gov't is trying to eradicate. So you can kill them pretty much anytime you want and any way you want (as long as it doesn't come under any cruelty to animal laws). I know the American Indians had rabbit sticks (that at times would have been made out of mountain mahogany for sure) to hunt and successfully kill game. I'd say our equivalent in boomerang quality here to mountain mahogany is mulga. I could use a woomera legally to kill feral animals (rabbits, jacks, foxes, cats) but not natives of any sort. To do that I'd have to belong to an aboriginal tribe (and I don't) so hunting kangaroos and emus is out of the picture. This is a shame as hitting and killing kangaroos would be much easier than going after bunnies - size does make a difference. Thanks for the questions and comments.

@@wozzasboomerang Just a quick follow-up; I don't want to monopolize... Is Halloween a thing in the land "girt by sea"? And what are the hunting regs for drop bears? Can they be hunted over bait? Maybe a good Halloween episode would be to take the kiddos out on a drop bear hunt, the kids being the bait of course.😁 Have any of them been particularly annoying lately?

@@jasondraper2829 Yeah, some good qu's Jason. Halloween traditionally is not a part of Aussie culture at all. In the last few years it's become more of a thing due to a whole bunch of marketing and in most towns you will see some trick or treating and shop fronts with pumpkin heads and the sale of a dead things etc in them. So atm some families celebrate it and some don't. We don't but that doesn't mean I'm not planning some very interesting episodes (none involve drop bears because even if they were real I'm sure they'd be protected). My kids annoying? Never! But I have been known to tell a few porky pies ;)
