Yess that’s the entire thing of skateboarding! There aren’t opponents, you’re all skaters who are just skating together trying to land better tricks then the others

The first few clips around the 0:11 sec mark are of the Aussie skater Kieran Woolley. Keegan destroyed it but give Kieran some credit as well. Such an epic day of skating.

Honestly props to the Olympics for setting a standard with Olympic skateboarding. I like the fact that they're saying "Hey look... hand down is no dice". I mean if it doesn't fly with the Street League, why should it fly in the olympics XD Certainly the X Games will be a lot more lenient, giving more credit to tricks landed a-la skateboarding in it's original spirit

Wow this is crazy

The Park competition has a lot to do with the skaters' line and flow through the park...this "machine-gun"/fast-cut/music video editing style does not help to display his Gold-Medal performance! Slow down. Let us see what he did, not just a few cool tricks.

I'm an Aussie and hadn't even heard of Keegan but you can see why he won, great tricks and great style too.

Whoever made this video isn't a skateboarder because the first few clips were not Keegan Palmer who skates goofy. That was Kieran Woolley who skates regular.

Wow, can't believe you guys post this nonsense... first of all trying to justify Luiz Francisco's score because his hand touched the floor is just and excuse, this would totally be applied if he had supported himself in the floor with his hand, but it was just a slide of his hand. Secondly Keegan didn't think his score would be overcame and he never said that you guys are just making this up. His run was insane with a 540 flip and score way too high for anyone to top it. The video almost says that Luiz would have been the first if he had not put his hand on the floor but if he would have actually scored higher than Keegan (without counting the hand touch) a simple hand touch wouldn't reduce his score by like 10 points and take him off the podium. The fact that Olympics needed to post this video just shows how insecure and poor the judging of this competition was and that skateboarding score system needs to change. Skateboarding score system has always been polemic and full of inequities and injustices as there is almost no standardization.

Well said. You are always going to have debatable scores when there is no scoring standardisation, but reducing a score by 10 points for a single hand touch is just poor judging decision

Exactly! The Luiz run was not for the Gold medal, but for the bronze! This video misleads this conception. Luiz getting above 90 for his run was Just outrageous

I think you only have to see how the scoring through the heats worked to understand that the massive lack of consistency in not only the medal positions, but in who actually got to qualify for the final. The competitors in the heats were decided purely by random but it's no coincidence that the scores for each heat improved heat on heat, almost as if the judges had nothing to base the scores of the first two heats on. That's mostly why no-one from heat 1 or 2 was in the final, and only one person from heat 3.

Whatever it maybe, skateboarding is still a young sport in the Olympics and likely they'll improve the judging system.
