I've watched this race 100 times and for him, at 31, to blow the field away in the last 50m is insane. His 150 turn is scary good here.
Missing you so much in ToKYo Olympics mighty PHELPS 💋

That final breast to free turn and free leg is one of phelps great moments. Over 30 and he still has it in him to turn it on and bury the best the world has to offer, and he looks so smooth when he's doing it. When that stroke rate increases the final 25, the greatness is just undeniable.

@@dylanh8659 a lot of these non-swimmers and casuals give so much credence to his feet, or his lungs, wingspan, etc. the thing they always seem to ignore is that every single one of those competitors has those features; without them, those times would be impossible. the only reason why phelps is so dominant is not due to his impressive genetics, but to his hard-working genius.
Such a Legend . Thank You Micheal Phelps !
Micheal Phelps is just unstoppable
I was in high school when these olympics happened. The school had tvs around the school and played the Olympics when they were on. And during one of Michaels races the bell went to return to class and we all turned to the teachers but they were like nah just watch it and go. Best moment ever!!
Thank you very much Micheal Phelps

Congratulation Michael Phelps.
Something interesting that I noticed around 3:12 when Phelps transitions from breast to free is that he doesn't complete a breaststroke kick on his last stroke going into the wall. It is something I have seen occasionally from others, but never quite at this level. Perhaps it is to preserve momentum through that last stroke into the wall?
@siyulater
2 жыл бұрын
Very late reply but it's definitely to do with keeping the momentum he built up into the wall. If he had kicked into the wall, he would've been too close to fully extended into the wall and efficiently maintain his speed.
