When clamping or "securely" securing track sections, I always use a cloth between the clamp & track piece. No worries about Nick's/scratches. 😉

Can you help me get my original 1968 Aurora Model Motoring track working? I would like to know if I can hook the transformer directly to the track to see if power is going through the rails..... I used your video to test the cars by holding them to the transformer. I cleaned the contacts but without a dremel so I probably have to go back to do that.....

You would want to start with the terminal track and then you could add a single piece of track to that track and test it to see if it's working. You can also test a car on the Transformer if you are using an old original Transformer. You can press the pick up shoes against the place for the two wires hook up on the Transformer and that should turn the motor over on the chassis. As long as the chassis is good it's the motor should turn over if it doesn't there's something wrong with the Transformer. I hope that helps a little.

@@jamesdignan145 Thank you. I did wire the terminal track and the car is "working" both against the transformer and when placed in the slot with the rear wheels lifted on the track. However, the car won't go when I put the rear wheels down. My cousin is coming this weekend who can help me take next steps. I assume that the track is getting the current since the car wheels spin when in the slot with the rear wheels raised. How I need to figure out how to make it go with the wheels down.....

It is possible that the chassis of the car needs to be tuned up. So it is running at its peak efficiency. I do have a video posted showing how to maximize the running efficiency of the chassis. Also you could likely run piece a sandpaper across the rails on the terminal track to make sure that they're clean.

Start by hooking your Transformer and your speed controls to the terminal track. All you need is that one terminal track to determine whether or not the Transformer and the speed controls are hooked up accurately.

Do your cars ever get traction ? Armor all ?

If you want extra traction you can buy jel claws tires. You may also need to change the rear hubs.
