AURORA FOSSIL FESTIVAL 2022 | HoppeHunting

It’s the most fossiliferous time of the year!!
Join me as I return to Aurora, North Carolina for the annual Aurora Fossil Festival! It was so great seeing the huge turnout at the festival back in May. I’ve had an extremely busy summer so it took me a while to sort through all the finds and edit the footage, but the wait is over. Enjoy the video, and don’t forget to like, comment and subscribe! ~HH

What a fun project for fossil hunters. You got quite the haul! I saw some chain coral pieces I would've kept also. 👍

Just watched your video. When I lived in Emerald Isle, NC I went to the Museum many times. I haven't made it to one of their festivals, but sure hope to make it this year. Unfortunately, I live in WV, but I know the trip would be worth it.

Great finds! I've heard of the Aurora Fossil Festival/Aurora pits and would definitely like to check it out sometime as it isn't too far from a beach we really like. Thank you for sharing your hunt and your finds!

The two largest megalodon/chubutensis teeth from this trip were right about 2 inches!

how can you tell that is a chub and not Angustidens?

It matters what time period the formation that your digging in comes from, like the Pungo which is the formation that’s deposited in the pits, so from, early-mid miocene which is about 25-15 million years ago. Which is usually known for its chubutensis and megalodon teeth
