06:04 When she says that she LOVES confrontation. IT IS A LIE. And after that comes racionalization why it is good to like conflict. But she doesnt believe it at all. She either isnt aware of it, or she is just pushing herself to be an role model. I dont think she means bad, it is just not true. Study her micro expressions and tonality and you will see.

When I heard this song my first thought was autism. Too many people say that autism should be cured which is very wrong. I am autistic and I am always expected to act like I am not or people get upset with me. I shouldn't have to censor/mask myself to comfort someone else's ignorance. This goes for anyone who is neurodiverse. There is nothing wrong with you, you are not sick, and you don't need a cure. 💖💪🏻

I thought the same about the song. I'm 21 and last year I ended up in a very crippling burn out plus depression and anxiety. I quit in my career and had to return to my mother's house. It's been 8 months but I'm better now. I've accepted myself and currently I don't mask pretty much never. My greeting is a slight bow, I express directly, my backpack is a panda teddy bear, always use my headphones in public with noise cancelation, stim whenever I want and act like I want to (always respecting others unless they don't deserve it). I realized people don't respect normal people for being normal, people respect who they think is worthy of their respect. And If you love and respect yourself without being afraid of others, knowing and showing your value and your selfesteem, nobody is gonna have the balls to tell you otherwise. Don't choose being nice, choose being yourself. You'll end up being a good person with the corrects ones and don't waisting your time in others than doesn't deserve your energy. (Sorry if the writing is weird, is not my first language XD)

I’m not sure if you know this, but Aurora is autistic herself (so am I) so I immediately thought of autism with this song too, but I love that it can be for anything that is inherently *you* that society doesn’t “accept.” Aurora is such a beautiful soul 🥺

This is especially the case when people try to apply ABA for autistics, even though they used to misdiagnosis it as ADHD. Autistics create a constant circuit of checks for social comparisons to be able to "socially function". I just discussed earlier today with my bestie about this, and how I fear unmasking with people because I used to annoy them. Example is I might hear "Poker Face" and start poking her face. But she told me she might be annoyed, but would just tell me to stop. Unrepressed, I would easily flow to something else; but damaged and applying ABA, I would hyperixate and then enter depression for "not being good enough", between being born intersex and autistic. Aurora was healthy for me, because if you see her interviews, I am just like her in personality, including randomness and mannerisms. Seeing approval she gets, I saw I can be loved for who I am. Additionally, I have many same facial features as her, besides mannerisms, that I used to be self conscious of, because they're so rare.

I'm very late but I thought the same thing! As an Autistic girl, I've had a lot of people say I need to be cured. One guy told me I should be killed because of survival of the fittest...Funnily enough, I think he's the one with the problem that needs curing, not me 😁

I think it's included in this song, too. I think it's about autism and people in the lgbtiq+ community. I think Aurora might be autistic too, she stims all the time while singing. The reason I think that, is that she says that the world tells you you're different and that they try to change who you are, your behavior and stuff like that. She also says that she loves confronting people and I relate to that a lot (I'm autistic). I think many autistic people prefer to speak the truth even if others aren't okay with that 'cause we are honest and very straightforward when interacting with others. I see myself in Aurora, in the way she knows she's different and accepts it, in the way she acts freely and following her heart. I find her really pure and real.

Legit I don’t believe she came from this plane of existence. I honestly think she’s from somewhere else, somewhere better, to make life here better. The way she is so content with what life throws at her, and her saying “sadness is just one of the many emotions that come with this body,” and “I’ve never been broken up with, but I look forward to experiencing that experience!” She just doesn’t seem normal in all the best ways, like she’s just ascended beyond our mortal confines to live a better life!

It's wonderful seeing her being so openly herself cause it gives me hope that I too will be able to do that one day. As a neurodivergent person who is autistic/ADHD, this song is incredibly empowering. I know Aurora has mentioned that educators wanted to put her on stimulants as a child (due to possible neurodivergence) and I wonder if this song is speaking to those types of experiences. Either way, when I sing this song, I feel strong and proud of my brain for bringing me this far.

I knew this was an anthem for LGTB+ people but after hearing her explanation and life experiences, I feel like it could also be a good anthem for neurodivergent people as well. As a kid who used to take medicine to sit more still in class and whose behaviour was easily misunderstood as well, I felt comforted by this. Besides, her raw vocals are so beautiful as always... it feels like she sings directly from the soul. *Edit:* I know everyone could relate to this song, I just mentioned LGTB community because she made a comment on conversion therapy when she announced the release of this song on her Instagram, that's why I initially thought she wrote it with that in mind. Please stop replying the same thing over and over. Thanks :)

I REALLY love this and relate as an autistic person with ADHD (self-diagnosed at 45) with an autistic with ADHD child who had ABA "therapy" forced on her at school, an abusive protocol used on autistic people which is based on conversion therapy and is traumatizing by making neurodivergence "wrong/other" instead of different and equally valid, and teaches people their wishes/needs/ways don't matter and creates compliant, vulnerable C-PTSD who get angrier and less accepted as teens and adults. All we need is UNDERSTANDING AND LOVE ❤😍💖 my daughter and I listen to this every single morning before homeschool, knowing it was our anthem before you just explained it ♡♡♡ we are also witches who do all the flower and fruit potions and magic acupuncture to help us, plus gardening, art and cats ♡♡♡
