Wow Anup Sabaji... Sabaji might be sambhaji. Good to know my Marathi brother. There is small village in Delhi called Nangli Poona(relocated Pune) They have similar architecture as marathi people have. They are also marathi people. Surnames like Rana(Rane) very common among them.pround!!!

Not true .Dharma survives in South India because of the Great kings of Vijaynagar Empire .1229 to 1567 almost three hundred years before the Maratha Empire .Fun Fact Jijabhai Shivaji mother used to tell grandeurs about vijaynagar empire as kid to Shivaji that fired his ambitions .Read the battle of Raipur Battle of Talikota.

@@sanjaycasula570 All the shah dynasty came together and destroyed the Vijaynagar Samrajya... In the above podcast the speaker is speaking only 3 shahs but there were 5 shahs. Vijaynagar samrajya was the wealthiest one and the only way they could defeat was to come together used the treachery. But after Vijaynagar samrajya collapsed in 15th century, the reign of shia muslims got stronger all over south. Not sure how much you know about Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, but during his visit to the south (The Dakshin Digvijay Mohim) he saw that our temples were broken and on top of it, they constructed Musjid. He order his people to destroy it and construct the temples again. There are two such temples that he constructed in Andhra and his name is still there in those temples. In Thanjavur, two muslim sardar made a mess, and the people of Thanjavur went to Shivaj maharaj for help and he helped. During the battle the son of kanhoji jedhe was martyred. but the battle was won. In that memory of shivaji maharaj, the thanjavur people built a temple.

@@akshaypathare6253 you are missing the point As a Telugu maybe I am based towards Vijaynagar Empire .but Bollywood had made so many movies about Marathas but not one on vijaynagar maybe because Bollywood is based out of Maharastra But the second point I want to make more largely and I will put it bkuntly Second there was no Maratha resistance against Mughals . Nor Sikh resistance against Mughals or Assamese .As Sita Ram Goelbpointed out this attempt to split Continuous hindu resistance from 800 ad to 1800 ad starting from King Dahir against Qasim to Shivaji into a Chachnama period Rajput period VijayNagar Period Maratha period Khalsa period is part of leftist divide and rule by showing these as local resistances and regional fights.

How interesting! In Tripura we indigenous call Lord Shiva, the saviour as "Shibrai". Even the Christians later translated the word saviour as "Subrai". It makes sense for the "saviour" named Shiva to be colloquially referred as "Shivrai". 🤗

religion does not come into picture in this history directly , it was not a fight for religion, it was justice against injustice, there were hindu(out of fear) and muslim both fighting for aurangzeb and there were hindu and muslim both fighting for maharaj, so no need to mention 'religion' or 'more than religion' , if there would have been a just ruler of any religion Raje wouldn't have started fight for justice.

Oh my god!! What a podcast! The knowledge and all these precious facts Medha ma'am is sharing are beyond our imagination and intellect. Being a Maratha myself, I am so surprised to learn all this if not more curious to study our history more. The history our country has witnessed is unparalleled and she has not even started speaking about Shivaji Maharaj. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is a pride symbol for Marathas and I am always stoked to hear about his legendary reigning period. AMCHA JANATA RAJA 🚩🚩🚩 Battles of Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj, especially Sinhagad is a story in itself of how Shivaji killed Afzal Khan and escaped with the help of great warrior like Tanaji Malusare who fought till his last breath. Battle of Paavankhind is a great one too. Maratha's history is full of pride and immense sacrifices of great souls which led to building of this divine kingdom that throned the most legendary King Shivray.

n Jodha Akbar movie they did show Akbar was punishing the guy to throw him from top and when he did not die in first attempt and he ask again to bring him up and throw him again. That kind of cruelty was shown. His other side of Akbar. Also they showed how Akbar was growing up in WARS since his childhood that he saw so many death since he was a child. Also Mirabai did not had a choice to escape and take Krishna as her protector. Because that era was who raise voice against injustice will get killed. Dara in todays world would have been considered a "Wise Man" and not otherway around.

Such a pity that we see 16-17th century from Northern perspective when it was dominated by South. Hi Ranveer - bring on Marathi historians as their research on Shivaji STARTS from Shivaji Maharaj's Grandfather and SPANS beyond Peshwa Bajirao untill 1857 war of independence.

1857??? Are you kidding.... Marathas were weakened after panipat in 1761 and nearly wiped out in 1818.... If they chose to fought off English on the invitation of tipu it would have been a win win situation for India..... but sadly they did the opposite and fought against tipu along with English..... and few years later they got their lil asses handed over to them by the same British...... pls tell me If I am wrong

@@immad9706 you are not wrong, but history writers have been bit disproportionate depicting period of 1761 - 1857 1. On Panipat, Marathas lost nearly 1/3rd of effective Army - but rest of it was still in place 2. Before leaving India hastily due to rumours of coup back in Afghanistan, Abdali reasserted Marathas as Delhi's saviours (I e. He reconfirmed old treaty between maratha and Delhi) 3. Within 11 years after panipat, Marathas marched upto ghosgad and destroyed Najib khan's rohila empire 4 around 1787-88, Marathas went back again to Delhi. They defeated and killed Najib's grandson who had taken over Delhi and unleashed unspeakable tortures onto then incumbent Mughal emperor. (As a reward, Marathi Flag was fluttering on Lal Killa until British General Lake won Delhi!) 5. Bajirao the second (and his father Raghunathrao) are dubious characters(they had much to do with maratha demise). But Bajirao second trained and encouraged his son nanasaheb and Zansi Rani Lakshmibai - who were instrumental in 1857 revolt. 6. Tipu's character is unearthing slowly - refer to Vikram sampath's latest work ( shortly- Aurangzeb, Nadirshah alikes would hv been proud of Tipu). Marathas would never have partnered with such antihindu man - they learnt there lesson with Najib Khan.

The last few lines mam said when ranveer asked about the long term impact of maharaj on our lives mam you gave me chills, please bring her back this is the history we want to know because there is so much more to learn from her!!❤

That line of mam's that why shivaji maharaj is different because he was visionary he did not struggled for himself but his visions were way beyond, that's why as mam said we have to know him well across the country and the world to succeed in all odds as a person and as a nation also. Huge gratitude and respect.

I'm from Aurangabad and we consider Shivaji as our father figure. Jai Shivrai!

The curious me started reading Maratha history since 2009 when i got to know that my roots traced back to the clan of Marathas. Let me tell you, i have not finished even 10% yet. There is so much to learn, read and explore. For those who are reading my comment please read, observe and execute his learnings in real life, It'll change your fortune. Can't thank the team enough to bring such vived personalities in light, especially the SF podcaste. I urge you to bring more authentic story tellers and historicans of Marathas history to the show. If you guys want to learn more, there is a channel named Maratha history which tells us the tail with historical correspondence/documents of parallel timeline and personal family records of officers-generals who served in the Maratha army. I am the direct descendant of one of maharaja as told my family and history with Mughals and britishers with all over india was brutal and death all over india and nothing. maharaja like shivaji saved us from mughals and also kind of saved sanatana dharma and also reversed the muslim conversion done to our own people. i love him 🙏🙏🙏

My family is among those who moved to Karnataka and settled near Bangalore during Maharajs rule. (But my parents and I are born and bought up in Mumbai). The marathi spoken is quite different (ancient) than Mumbai Marathi. We still have weapons from those period, the saddest part is a lot of history was passed orally hence lost. There are villages where majority are marathi speaking population, these parcels of lands were supposedly given to Maratha Tehsildars for rule.

This is one of the most amazing podcast I have come across. To know Maharaj closely we actually needs a personality like her. I have read many books on Maharaj and my favourite authors and speakers are Ninand Bedekar and Babasaheb Purandare but unfortunately we lost them and now she is one of the best author I know now. Her way of telling the history is incredible. Thankyou for this episode. We would also like to know about Dr. B.R Ambedkar. I hope we would get to see the episode on him soon.
