    @@crimsonhawk4912 a lot of people say that, but honestly I think social media just broadcasts the worst parts of peoples' personalities. All our means of expression are gamified and rewarded with literal numbers, but the tech itself couldn't be cancerous without cancerous people. If being put in a personal spotlight "regresses growth," then maybe that growth was just faked to begin with, you know? Thanks for responding

    Yo, I just found you and I wanna say something re: "Is Chelsea Racist?". As a woman of mixed race, half white and half black, who is white passing-- Chelsea fetishizing Lance's race certainly passes the "racist" test. I've had men on both sides of the white and black coin fetishize me because I am black-- But not TOO black. I am the perfect balance of the "in the house slave" and it's exhausting. Was she intentionally using weaponized white woman tears against lance? Hard to say, it seems like she has a wealth of mental health issues. However there lies another flaw in the logic of trying to decide if she was reacting in a racist way, most racist beliefs and values aren't "intentional" and you don't need to have weaponized intent to be acting within the confines of racism. Racism isn't just sticking a cross in someone's lawn and lighting it on fire or going down the street for this Sunday's weekly lynching. Racism is a very VERY, ironically, colorful and subtle canvas. I find people of ALL colors get upset when being called out on racist actions because they are afraid of the word Racist. I think the issue with the word Racist is that it doesn't really cover the spectrum of racism nor what separates a Hard Core Racist from people who just are actually ignorant or the people who are Completely unaware etcetc. She was relying on subconscious racist tropes and using inflammatory language, she made herself a victim of a PoC and used violent sexual language to do so. There are racist intonations we cannot ignore and if this had been said against my brother or one of my uncles? Especially if there was any indication that she was also with my relative because of some rosy idealized fetishization of our race???? I would have zero issue calling out the white woman as racist. Chelsea's actions around this event fit within the spectrum of racism. A white man fetishizing asian women and specifically pursuing them and guilt tripping them over how they were learning 'their language' for them and buying gifts for them is racist. A black man approaching me to make assumptions about who I date is racist. Chelsea doesn't get a free pass because she's a sad white girl who may be kind of confused and emotional and young. She was being racist. Not KKK Racist. But an insidious brand of racist that is so much more exhausting to battle as someone who belongs to a very specific fetishized group. I appreciate your commentary on the subject. I've been TRYING to find more run downs on youtube because I didn't want to chase down a ton of tiktoks to try and piece together what happened and I almost didn't click on to your videos given what I saw within some of the comments and-- I'll be real, I have seen a Type of white cis male who sees themselves fit to criticize social justice personalities; However I was wrong in my assumptions and I'm glad i took the chance. I'm really glad to see your own thoughtfulness and reflections upon your own actions. That'll serve you well into the future. ETA: And I just want to say the fact that Chelsea is another Liberal Social Justice Warrior type creator who is using these arguments actually is more and more disgusting the longer I think on it. Literally one of the most famous pieces of literature on racism deals with this exact trope. To Kill a Mockingbird. And like.... Emmet Till is still talked about to this day. Chelsea would not have been unaware of these things, they weren't obscure 'lost to history' stories. She may not be in her right mind, she is most certainly hurt, Lance is an asshole, but she is Aware of the violence men of color have faced because of white women crying and claiming sexual violence. She claimed it after Lance faced actual violent threats from white men on the platform who imitated the above mentioned lynching mobs. So... like. Maybe she isn't KKK racist directly, but racists who were in the KKK used vague stories of sexual abuse from imagined or regretful intimate encounters with non white men to justify their violence and hate. Like this actually PISSES ME OFF THE MORE I THINK ABOUT IT. I am gonna do my best to remain compassionate but jesus wow fuck her. This doesn't justify how Lance has spoken of her. This doesn't take the bite out of her condemnation of his actions. This doesn't invalidate her hurt. But Lance and Chelsea are both wrong. He's racist, she's racist. They couldn't have found a more perfect match to burn together.

    Everything you said is 100% true and happens all the time and it's atrocious. Chelsea could very well be racist and she definitely was fetishizing him but what I saw in her more than anything was a manipulative, narcissistic, bad actress who would have literally said anything to anyone to get people on her side. She clearly is unhinged and has serious mental health issues. I think agree papa gut here whe he said her bullshit didn't necessarily come from a place of racism but ended up being racist. Bottom line, people like her are extremely scary and I guarantee she will destroy any race color or sex who stands in her way.

    Thank you for pointing out the spectrum and subtleties of racism. As you’ve said, there are people who are racist out of ignorance and implicit bias - people who don’t know they’re racist and don’t want to be racist. It’s important to examine these things within ourselves, and correct that which ought to be.

    Thanks for all the comments of support. I'm glad that what I said made some sense. This is a bit of a touchy subject for me given I have people within my family who looked down upon my mother (the black one in this case) for marrying and having children with a white man. And then she even married another white man after she and my dad divorced. And... my dad went on to date a Japanese American woman and a Brazillian and eventually married the Brazillian. He's gone above and beyond to learn Portuguese for her (she already spoke English) and has always been the type of man that doesn't shy away from expanding his own knowledge of cultures outside his own, it's pretty much what he's made his career path. All of this is to say I am very sensitive and aware of the complexities of interacial dating. And I've been blind sided by people who appeared to be wanting to learn about my struggles only for it to come to the surface far too late that they-- just weren't it. Having to be cautious of who you date or show interest in because you are aware of the fact that you are viewed as some sort of exotic trophy is an awful thing to let sink in. And I think women like Chelsea can get away with it far more than the usual neckbeards we associate with saying they want an Asian wifey because "Asian women are just so subservient and their culture makes them more prone to act that way". /BARF/ Preference in looks isn't racist in of itself, so I don't wanna give that impression. But the line between Preference and Fetish is blurry. I can understand if she simply had a preference for indigenous men. And honestly I even understand if what she had just crossed over into fetish. But the fact that she went after Lance and then when it went tits up she resorted to what we all saw implode on social media??? That is a red flag for me as a not-white person, a big "stay away because this woman isn't afraid of empowering violent racists under the guise of tears and a mental breakdown" kinda racist red flag. Once again the conversation is complex and who knows what her real intentions were, but it is fair to say she's got some pent up racist views of the world and people within it. I'm always suspicious of white people who try too hard to champion my struggles for me.

It’s also stupid. I agree Chelsea is ALSO very much in the wrong but it doesn’t feel like racism. Not that she isn’t, I think everyone is unless they were raised in a vacuum and that goes for people of color too. Chelsea is a horrific train wreck of hysteria and self indulgence. My problem with Lance is that he makes money off his support of feminism and thats why I have a problem with him. He is taking attention away from the issues he is supposed to be so concerned with. Fuck boys are a dime a dozen, he is just run of the mill in this regard.

    Obviously it wasn't the point of the video but since you talked about it I figured I'd comment on it. I believe reparations for slavery would be fair considering white people obviously had almost 100 years to build wealth and claim land over POC in this country which obviously gave POC in the generations once slavery was abolished a disadvantage because although they were no longer enslaved the white people had a 100 year head start. Now I just don't know where exactly we find the money to give out reparations, most of the richest people in America (Elon Musk, Bezoz, Bill Gates) all have built their wealth from relatively modest beginnings and none of them are the direct descendants of any super successful plantation owners or anything like that so who are we getting the money from whenever most of the white people currently alive in America don't benefit from slavery anymore. Me personally my ancestors were Irish moved here after slavery had been abolished and then mixed with some native Americans after moving to the America's because I am 1/8 Indian so why should I personally need to feel responsible for what happened and have to pay them back myself? I understand they got a shitty deal and were massively disadvantaged but I've never seen anybody be able to explain who currently alive should be held responsible

  • @NuttBustley

    @NuttBustley

    2 жыл бұрын

    Some would argue that the racism that facilitated slavery just started taking different forms after it was abolished. From Jim Crow and segregation, to redlining and discriminatory hiring/housing practices, to underfunded black schools and the prison industrial complex. A lot of things compounded on top of the initial disparity of affording none of the plantation land to the freedmen.

  • @grantthiessen7552

    @grantthiessen7552

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@NuttBustley that's fair but objectively slavery was a much bigger handicap than anything else and typically when people talk about this they say reparations are specifically for slavery. We've done other things to begin undoing the systemic oppression in schools and colleges and are on track for a good future in that regard considering black women specifically have one of the highest enrollment rates in the country and it partially due to the laws we've enstated that require schools to have a minimum % of students of color which made schools who would've otherwise continued racist practices have no choice but to start accepting POC and the longer this continues the more progress we will make. Long story short, there are other ways we can make up for red lining and oppression in the education system and we have made drastic progress even in just the last 10 years and it's been an exponential growth but to me slavery is something I have no idea how to possibly set right completely without some sort of reparations but I don't know who exactly is supposed to be held responsible and once again I've yet to see someone else make a good argument for who exactly should be penalized.

  • @NuttBustley

    @NuttBustley

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@grantthiessen7552 Yeah, I just brought up all those other things because in many cases, they've been an answer to the abolition of slavery, with the primary goal of maintaining the lasting oppression of Black Americans. I would personally say the place to start with reparations is to give the land that was previously plantation land to the black families that've descended from slaves. I'm not sure if you've heard of '40 acres and a mule', but that's probably the best place to start imo. I don't really believe in cash reparations personally

  • @grantthiessen7552

    @grantthiessen7552

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@NuttBustley the only issue I see with that is that we are so far removed from slavery not all plantation land is even owned by the people who were originally slaveowners so in some cases you'd just be uprooting the lives of some people with no connection other than they decided to live on land that 200 years ago had slaves. In theory it's a good idea because land is obviously one of the most valuable assets but I just don't like the idea of punishing people today that had nothing to do with slavery to make up for what happened because then what in a couple hundred years are we gonna have to have reparations for all the families whose lives were ruined to even the balance for slavery. Essentially that plan is a modern day trail of tears although emphasis on modern day because it's much easier to relocate if you absolutely have too but that's essentially what you'd be doing, you be going in and telling the people who live on that land that regardless of how they came to own it or what they've done there or what ancestral relevance they even have to the place it now no longer belongs to them and you just have to figure it out.

  • @NuttBustley

    @NuttBustley

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@grantthiessen7552 Well if someone's making money off land that was never supposed to be theirs to begin with, then it's barely a punishment that the land gets taken away from them, in my opinion. I'm sure all parties would be able to come up with something to make the transition as smooth as possible, relocating the modern families with minimal grievance. Of course forcibly evicting someone and leaving them to fend for themselves on the street would be cruel, especially on the basis of their heritage. I do think it's a little silly to weigh the inconvenience modern families would face by severing their personal ties to the land, against the intergenerational strife the descendants of slaves have faced because their ancestors were uprooted. To compare it to the trail of tears is especially silly. Like I get it, it's not your fault for slavery. No one alive is to blame for slavery. But that doesn't mean we can't use our knowledge today to try and fix the injustices of the present that are evidently downstream from the injustices of the past. This is a noted injustice that has had ramifications that span to the current day. If the family wants to be dramatic and call undoing of that injustice a punishment, then nothing's stopping them, but I can't help but think of the saying "when you're accustomed to privilege, equality feels like oppression"
