As someone who lost both their parents, you will always carry your mom with you. Some days will be harder than others and some days you’ll wake up thinking “I need to call mom”. Other days you’ll be driving in the car, thinking about something crazy that happened, and think “I need to tell mom about this! It was so crazy!” And it’ll hit you that you can’t. I try to think of those times as moments when my mom is with me and that’s why I’m thinking about her as if I could just call her up. Those are the best times, because you forget they’ve gone away, but also the worst because it reminds you about what happened. You’ll be okay, though, and you’ll miss her for the rest of your life. But she’s with you, always. I’m so sorry your mom passed away. ♥️ it’s been almost 5 years since my mom passed and 3 years since my dad passed. I still have days where I forget they’ve passed and either want to see them or call them. Same for my brother. But they’re always with me, just as your mom is with you.

It has throughout my life... lost my first brother when I was 13 and he was 17... since then I've lost too many friends to count as well as 2 more brothers, my younger sister and my older sister I didn't like much anyway. My parents needlessly within 5 months of each other and the knee dropper of losing my 21-year-old grandson to cancer 2 weeks after his 21st birthday. I know, I hope, to see them again someday but until then I think of them often and mention them so as not to forget them. for Auld Lang Syne...

I rememebee two years ago... The whole class was practicing this song in the music room for our discipline teacher that will be transferred to anotger school next day... But the next day... We get a news that she passed away from a car accident after school while going to celebrate her birthday with other teachers... She is very kind and sweet. This song always make me cry. It makes me miss the ones I have lost and appreciate the time we’ve spent together and appreciate the ones that are still here even more.

We had to sing this at a private school I went to when I was in kindergarten, we would line the gym and hold hands and sing along, I only knew the cup of kindness part and for auld Lange syne part. I loved that school, I didn't move away from it, it's in my town, we just transferred to public schools. There was also no dress code and it was amazing. No one will understand how that private school really changed me.

Exactly! Listening to the "Modern English" version for years took away exact meaning in the original lyrics. Glad to see a site that has restored the deeper nature of the original version.

2 Years ago, me and my 7 year best "partner in crime" friend broke up. Fast forward last week december, I swallowed my pride and apologized to him and I admitted my mistakes because I want to save our friendship and that's more important to me. He said, "I'll reply to you tomorrow. I'm tired because of my work." Fast forward now, I never received the reply. Lowkey hurts me. But I guess it's time to move on. When I went to school so long ago, my English teacher taught me this song. She was Scottish and sang it very well. I have liked the song since then and sometimes we sang it in group when the grade finished. The lyrics are very meaningful really as we really forget many or our acquaintances with time, since life takes us apart from those we knew as children.
