I really struggle with Lulu Mayo's paper too. Which was so frustrating for me because I love her art and the smaller size of her books. Being double sided doesn't help. I tried everything I had (which was a lot my pencil collection was stupid big at the time, I've downsized since then) and NOTHING laid down or blended to my satisfaction. I finally found I like to use Albrecht Durer in them.. I lay down a base layer on the paper, activate, then go in with pencil to brush (aka "lick" technique) and add shading. Gel pens for accents. They are simple but the art is simple anyway and I finally came out with pages I was both happy to color and happy to look at after. The paper does fine with the water, I don't do a lot of full page backgrounds. It does prefer the water brush to a blender pen.
