Audrey how do you compare the difference in hiking in temperatures at 100 degrees on the Colorado Trail ( dry heat) versus the AT ( humid heat)? Your Mom is a trooper. ❤😊

Hey North Star... There used to be a popular slogan and bumper sticker that said, "The family that prays together, stays together." In light of what I've seen in decades of hiking, a companion line to that slogan could read, "The family that HIKES together, stays together." Immersed in the natural world, hiking together on a trail, something almost magical seems to take place when families share the experience together. Bad relationships become good and good relationships only get better. Hostilities and barriers melt away while love and acceptance grow. Free of all society's clutter and distractions, families are finally free to focus on each other, and conversations that would have been difficult to discuss on the living room sofa easily flow in the "living room" of nature. There are countless benefits available for families that hike together, such as stronger bonds, deeper love and appreciation for each other...benefits that can't be found in a gym, but yet they overflow in the simplicity of the natural world, a pack and the absence of clutter of the "real world." May the Great Spirit of Creation Himself use this time on the Colorado Trail to take what is already a great relationship between you and your mom and elevate it to new and even deeper bonds.

Good morning Audrey! Its great to see you again. You girls must be in great shape to be hiking in 100 + weather. 😅 and you didn't even break a sweat 😉 I'd be soaked in the shade. That's a beautiful area & trail to share with your mom. I'm glad you are able to spend some quality time together. She looks like a healthy, young lady. I take it you have a very fit and active family. Just curious how much weight are you carrying in your packs? Be careful with the extra weight and the heat. Happy Trails to you both! 1st night on trail, not thee spot but A spot for a rent 😅. Wow ur mom is a pretty woman. I thot that you're surprise guests for the trip might be a co-worker or a sister I really thought I was going to be your brother that's what I was really thinking. So u have the rent, which is really a light tent. The stove and filter cuz she only need one of those of each.. so Mom has her clothes her food snacks, u have the medkit. Mom has her sleeping pad and maybe some camp shoes. Personal hygiene stuff, so hopefully that will make a much easier load for her !!! And you would have had to carry what you're carrying anyway regardless of going by yourself Solo or with someone !! So hopefully you tried to make it easier on Mom. But mom sounds very healthy !! U rock mom !!!!! We love ya 😂😅 !! My mom started suffering from health problems at early age and although when we were younger we did a lot of day hikes together we never went packing together. She's gone to sleep in the Lord . But when He calls her on that wonderful day she will be made perfect in " the twinkling of the eye " ❤. The CT is going to love u 2 !!! 😅. Audrey I can only tell from camera angles so I'm not sure, but it looks as if your load lifters need pulled in the shoulder straps don't look like they're fitting correctly so maybe the load lifters need pulled in ?? But you're not exactly a newbie so I will leave that up to you ☺️. Just watching out for you. 100 degrees is pretty warm especially in the high exposed trail sections !! Plz keep your sunscreen on and lots of water 🤠. I have the same hat that Mom does and I love it for sunny days. I made the front bill of mine waterproof because with my rain jacket on the front bill is the only part that's exposed and it just gets floppy when it's wet and a big mess. And we just can't have that😅. All those people out there having fun just makes me jealous because I'm stuck here in Phoenix Arizona. ( My truck has a blown head gasket so going anywhere with camping gear isn't in the picture ) And the Mrs car won't carry a lot of stuff plus dogs.. the car doesn't really have the power to climb the hills to get out of the valley and up into the mnt's . I could go alone but alot of trails r dry right now. U 2 will run into many water sources on the CT . R u planning on doing the whole thing or some sections ???? Some parts are going to be rough on the knees 0 if you do the whole thing . The flowers are so beautiful 😍 !!!! The trail is well used so I don't remember any real scrambling. I hope after the trip is over u will give ur impression of the tent as far as condensation goes. You will be the only two people in it so a review of condensation control will be interesting. There's lots of stuff on the internet but they're all single people because as you know a lot of people use two people tense as a one person tent so they can keep their gear inside. And change their clothes without feeling like a square peg in a round hole 😂😅. Which is why I'm still looking for a good two-person tent. A lot of things to think about and consider !!!. Watching you guys play this trail makes me wish I could tag along 🤩🥸!!! Keep the vids coming A so we can share n wish n dream 🤔🤣✌️ ATB to u n mom !!!! Peace and keep on rocking the free world 🌍. The CT is an amazing trail. Getting away from Denver and to higher altitude will cool things down.

Hey Audrey, I'm a fellow Missouri teacher of 5th graders!! My husband and I have hiked the CT on and off for 20 years.. it is gorgeous! Buena Vista was always a favorite town for us! Have fun hiking and God Bless!
