Audiovisual Incubators: Amplifying Migrant Voices for Enhanced Access to Rights

The communication incubator strategy in Colombia empowered migrants to actively shape their local information landscapes, address information barriers, combat disinformation, and foster social cohesion through community networks. Through these initiatives, 176 participants acquired media literacy skills and produced relevant content, aligning with the recommendations provided in Internews' Information Ecosystem Assessments, which were conducted under the Conectando Caminos por los Derechos program funded by USAID.
Although initially content production focused on radio, participants emphasized the importance of being able to generate content in formats that were not geographically limited and could be replicated even in the absence of connectivity; over 200 communication pieces were created, including video clips, murals, short audios, posters and radio programs that circulated both in community radio and on social media platforms.
