They were so criminally underrated when together. All the 'critics' had their minds made up about the band, with it being a "super group" and should've been fired for writing the reviews they did. That first album could be listened to all the way through without hitting skip, and produced at least 4 pretty big hits that most people my age can sing if it comes over the speakers.

Yeah, they were an easy target. A lot of people wrote them off as "another supergroup." I kind of felt the same way about the first Velvet Revolver record. Both albums had really solid tunes beginning to end.

@@gianlucatixson6621 very hot take, but I mostly agree with it. I think they are all different and party to their own sounds and ages, but I have to say I regularly listen to Audioslave more than the others.

His work is my escape as well! If you listen to his full works it feels like you almost get to know him, or at least his emotions and mindset at the time of performance.
I grew up in the 70's/early 80's as a Rush fan, then followed the Grateful Dead...I've never heard anyone like Chris Cornell, EVER. He puts an imprint on your soul. He truly is someone special and a generational talent. Every time I listen to him, I get teary eyed.

This is incredible.
I feel fortunate to have seen him in Soundgarden in the 90s and then Audiosalve at Lolapolza months before this was recorded, and to finish off the cycle to see him on the biggest Rockville stage they had a week before he passed. Chris was the man....

The drumming that Brad did on this is perfect and nobody knows. Back end of the groove accentuates the vocal
Damn dude, this hurts me to my Soul that you're gone... Your music has helped me get through seriously hard times.. Even now.. Rest in the serenity of the hereafter... May you find what you were looking for there, that you could not find while you were here... And may those who did you wrong, suffer in eternal damnation..
Another example of the way his voice stands out as being one of a kind. With a rare talent of touching the souls of the listener's heart in a way that only a few can do. And just reminds me why we miss you that much more. Thanks for posting these jems!
this song reminds me of that one time i was on holiday with my mom, and we went to the sea, ate crappy food and did lots of fun stuff. And the feeling i got once we finally got home after all that is this song right here. I remember the sun setting leaving a beautiful pinkish aura on the little clouds as we drove back home. Dude, what a great memory. Thanks Chris.

That's really beautiful.. I have a feeling I feel in your description of the sun and the pinkish aura on the clouds. I feel it every time I look at a sunset.. alone and scared of the unknown of tomorrow, but I'm also at peace.
growing up in the early 90s chris was & will always be my absolute top songwriter/singer of all time in any genre this song in particular a prophetic hymn more than any type of rock chris cornell was the best from the grunge era & will live on through his words for eternity REST IN POWER CHRIS
This man's voice never aged. Not many people have said that from what I've seen

Phenomenal voice that will never be duplicated……so good…
December 31,2023 10:19pst staying in this NYE & just listening to this song. Reflecting about a rough year I had. Anyone reading this, just know it will get better.
One of my favorite songs ever 🎤🎶🔥 💎🙏🤘
Chris' wordmanship ability had me from the git ~ it was as if he crawled between my two ears and read my mind and phrased his lyrics so eloquently... Of course his beautiful voice will also continue to cause me to miss him for infinity... And then I saw how scrumptious of a man he was... OMG... I got to watch every nuance of Soundgarden's last concert from the 4th row, front & center... It still plays in my memory and always will... Chris, not only will nobody ever sing like you, but there won't be anybody else able to replace you in my heart... There was and is only one of you...
One of my favorite songs 🖤

This is what soul vocals sound like, hits me in the 'feels every time', unlike what we are told is supposed to be 'soul' music. This hits my soul bang in the middle. I'm 61, haven't cried since I was a boy. Chris Cornel did it, Mark Hollis on the last three Talk Talk albums, and maybe Layne Stanley when hit those notes. Just guys who were not 'shake n bake' pop stars, but when you got them on their side, the magic just poured outta them.
He was so unbelievably talented. What a Legend.
One of my favorites. Love the unplugged version. Miss you Chris.
I miss you Chris,And I can't help wonder ,You were so much more than what you gave us all, RIP Brother!!!!!
Such an amazing version! Love and miss you Chris.... You never knew just how many you truly helped, like me. Such a beautiful hurt soul. ❤️
Chris what a gift to watch this I love to sing with his tone
We miss you so much Chris. You had so much more to give, but what you did give us will have to be enough. Peace.
Te amo Chris, siempre estarás en mi corazón. Eres el regalo más hermoso que nos dió la vida.

My best friend took his life just before Christmas and we used to love our grunge and metal. Cornell was a hero, from Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog and Audioslave. I’m doing the eulogy and have chosen some songs. This is on the list. I don’t know how I’ll manage.
Somehow I appreciate Chris Cornell's talent even more as I grow older.

1:40 Rick Rubin enjoying the music in the back...
He is easily one of the best voices in the industry in the last century, at least. That's not even mentioning what a beautiful lyricist he is. Or the fact that he's one of the most gorgeous musicians in history. He's a force. And I'll love him forever.
This version sent me to my soul. That guitar solo was amazing
Awesome memories from Audio-slave, it's amazing experience on live session. RIP Chris Cornel, Audio-slave living inside from bottom of us heart.

RIP Chris Cornell , your music gives strength to many my friend!!!!
Wow, so great to hear Chris singing straight into the board with no auto-tune bullsh*t that makes human voices sound like computer generated nonsense. His vulnerability is apparent and makes the song more powerful. Great live take in the studio.
Maestro.
Best band of 2000s.
still am flabbergasted by the perfect pitch, range, and melancholic tone of his voice. never breaks into falsetto. amazing.
This is one of the most under rated bands ever. Sure it has about 70% to do with the superstar rock star Cornell but what a great match. Rage is also great.
