thank you so much! I guess I'll never be a successful guitar youtuber, as I can clearly hear the difference between them.

@@MarcoFernandesMesquita same there’s a massive difference 😂 the rosewood is mellower/Darker the maple is brighter somewhat well rounded.
In this comparison, the differences are huge I think

unbelievable! i would have never thought there would be such a noticeable difference between the two! the mapple definitely sounds more "crystaline and bright"; both are different and both sounds great.
Looks better with maple for sure
Thanks for this. One is brighter and the other is darker tones.
maple for clean sound, rosewood for crunchy sound
Excellent tone and playing, emphasizing the differences in sound between the two guitars. However, one major remark - the maple neck strat has a tremolo, the rosewood one has a hardtail bridge. This itself compromises to some extent the comparison.

The guitars also have quite unspecified pickups (black bobbin vs grey, no information about DC-R, magnet material) and can't be easily assumed that they have the same output spectrum.
I much prefer the maple. In comparison the rosewood sounds muted and borderlines being muddy. Especially in the neck pickups but across them all too.
I prefer maple, it has a broader tone spectrum with more prominent highs and lows and a more recognisable strat sound overall. Rosewood in comparison seems more mid-focused, almost boxy. Or maybe the maple fingerboard strat has hotter pickups?

I agree that it definitely has that iconic strat tone but I think the rose is more crunchy and versatile on distortion.

Agree I wont play anything but Maple. All my guitar heroes. BUDDY HOLLY HANK MARVIN KEITH RICHARDS created magic with maple necks.
Is one type of neck more comfortable to play on? More ergonomic?
It’s more like hardtail vs trem in this case..
Excellent comparison. Clearly shows the difference-between the two. I prefer the maple myself, as you can always roll the top off somewhere in the signal chain. But it’s much more difficult to add highs and mids that aren’t there to begin with…. But… to each their own! Cheers!
Huge difference. However, with maple necks you gotta be real selective with you pickup choice. Because it can become overly bright.

That’s why you’ve got tone knob in your guitar
2:25 song please?
Is it the neck wood that makes the difference or is it the different pick ups? The maple one has the "grey" pickups and the rosewood had "black"... 🤔
A question about body finish. What is the difference between "blonde" finish and "natural" finish? To my eyes they look same or at least close enough... 🤔
I just heard it sometimes maple lil to bright so rosewood sounds better plays softer. It comes down to feel but now roasted maple. Hear we go again!😂🎉
Hardtail vs Tremelo. No control.

different pots and pickups too...

Yeah that’s the biggest difference in tone for sure. Kind of makes it fret board comparison completely irrelevant.
well, i think the rosewood neck one sounds much more versatile and all-around (i would say i can hear some jazzmaster characteristics in the sound) than maple. however, maple looks cooler here. i would go for rosewood if it was my number one guitar.
To do the test you must also pick in the same place relative to the strings.
Maple fretboard w/ tremolo & grey botton PUs, rosewood fretboard, hardtail w/ black bottom PUs. 2 different guitars
There is a huge injustice going on with the rosewood here! The volume of both recordings are not equal... Highter volumes tend to sound better for human ear! That's why maple sounds better on this video.. But great intiative making this video :)

CORRECT ! i had dozens of '70s strats and latest one i have, black hardtail 1979 ash stratocaster with round laminated rosewood board "black as ebony with large pearl dot inlays" sounds far better than all of them !!! And by far most playable fatter C neck... There is something absolutely beautiful in rosewood ones ;).
I Love My 74 grey bottoms 👍
this is down to the two individual guitars, I guess the electronics. Rosewood is normally brighter than maple because it is a harder wood. It is a misconception that rosewood is "warmer" because it is darker. Ask any luthier.
Maple - Bright, more fuzzy, happy sounding Rosewood - Darker, more compressed, tighter sounder. I love the feel of a maple neck, but like the sound of the rosewood more. Its always apples and oranges ;)
The rosewood is slightly darker sounding of course.
What string brand you are using?
I prefer maple with the natural finish body as it looks right but my fave is Olympic white and rosewood.
Maple: bright/treble Rosewood: warm/thickness

Maple have more resonance!
I can’t tell if this is the same guitar with the neck simply switched.
Absolutely everything influences the sound. It must be the same guitar, same body, same pickguard, same strings, same electronics, same everything except for the neck. The only change must be just the neck, and both must be in the same shape (C, V, etc.), also same shape of the headstock, same tuners, etc. Otherwise, the comparison is not possible.
Maple neck sounds better to me, except for the bridge pickup, which is utter shit on each and every strat (and the rose sounds better to me in this very position).
Blondie is way brighter!
The maple neck gives the Strat its chime... adds to it anyway. The rosewood just mutes and muffles it... I don't like that.
Maple sounds much better, at least on this guitar and in this demo
I prefer Rosewood
I played three 1976 strats: 2 maple and 1 with rosewood fretboard. I liked the last one better, but in general these CBS strats are inferior to contemporary american made strats IMHO..and even further away from nowadays CS quality. Also 7.25 inch radius is not very good for bending...some people like to fight guitar, I just dont! :)
fender maple wood fingerboard sound like chinese Oolong tea!Clear and aromatic!fender rosewood fingerboard feel like chinese Pu'er tea! Deep Moisturizing Throat!they are two different kind of feel sound!

ebony fingerboard like tie guanyin tea!sound rich and aromatic!
You shoud have changed necks on the same guitar. Good playing, anyways.
Oh come off it, they're two different guitars, they sound different anyway. Especially with the manufacturing tolerances of fender 70s
You're actually changing the fretboard, not the neck. There is no rosewood neck on this video. Should you correct the video title?
