I still love the discovery 4, here in Kenya people fear the AUDI & VOLVO because the spare parts are very expensive. a lot use the discovery 3 & 4 which is good for terrain. Good Video @Mat Watson & Ginny Buckley.

Funny, a Discovery pulled up next to me at a red light yesterday and I could clearly see their check engine light was on.

+Matthew Davidse "personality" not sure what that means when it comes to evaluating a car. The Q7 is basically an Audi A8 with a hatch. In terms of on-road performance only a BMW can compete with the Audi.

The Q7 may be well-built but its design lacks originality. The Audi is no doubt sharper dynamically and performance-wise BUT the Volvo excels as a family vehicle over that of the Q7. The Volvo comes with more standard equipment for its price, makes better use of its interior space which is especially evident in its more comfortable and usable third row of seats and its the safest car you can currently buy...

I would have the Disco any day just knowing you can and do anywhere or anything is amazing, it looks beefy it has size and the name land rover basically means: King of off road, how cool is that and been able to sit so high above the other people on the road feels great and the tall gate at the back is great to sit on!

The Land Rover is an amazing car I’ve had 7 over the years

The XC90 is a better car than what Carbuyer suggests. Mat is biased to the Audi brand as to why I understand his enthusiastic conclusion. The XC90 is considered the best luxury SUV in the segment by MANY other credible sources, and so what that Volvo doesn't have the "douchebag status quo image" like it's German counterparts.

I like the Audi's interior, but it's just impossible to look at it from the outside, reason why I'd never buy it over the new XC90.

Audi hands down. The sheer build quality of the Audi trumps the other two by quite a big margin, and I also like the outside of it. Easily the best one of the three.

"You do have to step up and drop down to get into in" (LR) - You both are daft. LR has access mode on its suspension, so it drops down on its suspension to allow granny to get in, or heavy loads into the back.

But with real load or a trailer, and specially in mountainous areas, that little engine will work really hard with lousy mpg as a result. It's simply too big a car, specially with all the loads it's expected to manage, to have such a small engine.

FYI, the new XC90, with new methods construction and materials, weighs 400 lbs LESS than a BMW X5, and only 150 lbs more than an X3. It barely outweighs their own XC60 awd I6 versions. It's BIGGER but not HEAVIER.

+Bruno TaTa Obviously it does NOT get better fuel economy in real life, as demonstrated here. People buy these cars for loading capacity, be it people and their stuff or a trailer. A smaller engine has to work harder, it's normal and nothing you can escape, specially in mountains going up will demand more of the engine. It's normal for a bigger engine to work easier (lower rpm) to do the job than a small one (higher rpm=more fuel). You can go so far with new tech and materials to off set that. But in the end a bigger engine in such a big car WITH load will do the job with less fuel. And a car with bigger engine costs more. Also normal, specially if it's a higher premium car. Load up XC90 and 3.0L X5 and see which one is quicker. It was obvious in this video that Q7 3.0L was quicker.

XC90 is awesome!!

With a lift kit and black wheels, the Audi Q7 would look miles better. The bodywork in my mind isn't completely unattractive, just the stance of it makes it look like a slumped over crossover, not a full size suv.

Get out of that cave, 4 rings means boring, expensive, repetitive, snobbery nowadays. Volvo's image is much fresher, alive and much much friendly. Take the car with the weakest engine... ... complain about the engine being to weak. Well... get the T8 if you want a more powerfull engine.. Also if its the inscription model its way cheeper on the T8 anyway, making up for a lot of the diffrance.

I have sat in one, frequently, because I own one. The Q7 interior is the best in the segment ,has won awards as such. You are trash talking and have definitely not had the pleasure of sitting inside.

+nemanja milosevic My thoughts exactly. I like Audis but the XC90 has the edge for me. The interior is warmer, nature, (in the light colors) very airy and modern feeling. You feel like you are in a special place. The Audi is very modern, high-tech and clinical and it works for folk who like that feel. I like that feel. But for value for money, the XC90 wins on looks and practicality. It really looks the part and the interior seals the deal. It may not handle as well as the Audi and the engine may not be as refined but it close enough for me. I will say this, the XC90 ride is near prefect on smooth road but it does get choppy on rough roads, it is very noticeable on bumpy roads. Im not sure how much the air suspension solves this issue.

But the Audi interior feels way more high-class with the excessive use of real aluminum and overall good materials. Everything shiny in the Volvo you touch is cheap plastic. In addition it really reminds me on Fiat interiors. Dealbreakter for me.

Volvo looks and feels much better than the other two. The Audi is just plain ugly

me too, I've seen XC90 and the new Q7 standing next to each other on a parking lot and Q7 is more appealing thanks to sharp lines and perfect proportions. I mean XC90 is a nice car, but the exterior could be a big argument for buying it instead of Q7. The only advantage that XC90 has over Q7 is more equipment for less money, but i could also argue with that - in Q7 you get higher quality of such equipment, therefore you pay more. People saying - "you overpay just for the brand" are very strange to me. Brands become worth paying for them because they proved their quality, no one pays additional money for shitty brands.

British people be like ''Land Rover blah blah blah'' Audi is the winner and everyone knows that. the Land Rover is just nothing with that boxy look. it doesnt have any style.

+aram442 Audi's Quattro system is not built for proper off-roading purposes. Its just a simple Haldex system with FWD bias that you get on a lot of VW Group cars. Between the three, the most sophisticated AWD system that can also do some actual off-roading is the Land Rover. The Q7 doesn't even have a low-ratio gear set for heaven's sake.

Are these cars with the options fitted around the same price?

Even today, 14 Feb ‘23, I’m convinced the Disco4 is the best car for me and my family. 🙏🏾
