Mercedes GL is awesome with amazing features.

Now we are 9 years later and see it from a different angel. The MB is still a good looking and impressiv car. The Q7 looks a bit older and a bit more boring this times. After many Audis I swapped to Mercedes and I like them more now. Maybe I just getting older. There is a say: There are cars and there is Mercedes. You have to drive them a while to know why and even then, you can't tell why you feel that way.

Best car review ever! Whoever wrote the script has delved deeply into majestic Literature.

The gl looks much beter tham q7 and is much more luxury car...

Q7 is nicer than the GL

Don't know which version of the GL was tested her. Mine lowers automatically at speed, active cornering keeps it totally flat. Driving the two it was just no context, and I haven't even started talking about interior space. Guess Mercedes has listened and updated the 2013 model where it should have...

12 years later and our 2010 GL450 with 165k miles is still going strong. Looks near new, and no problems besides a starter replacement.

If the q7 is not a good fuel economy then I will stick will Benz but I like the Q7 design better

Both cars are excellent and I believe that humans have different opinions of which one looks better I would choose the g-class for the interior and the exterior beauty that it has

I would take any of those two.

Funny how the American definition of large is totally different than everywhere else in the world 😂 The GL could be classified as large but definitely not XL, and the Q7 would be a midsize SUV in the States. Over here it's not uncommon to see F250's being used as daily drivers... depending on model, they're up to 6 1/2m long and 2m tall🙄

ive had an 07 gl 450 for 170000 miles its an amazing car the fuel economy is that of 9 mpg (i have a lead foot) and iv had to replace both air ride bags 3 times on each side it eats through air ride bags and springs (about 890 to replace one side 1600 to replace both rear and same for the front) all in all i love the car i test drove a 2018 gls 550 and it felt too electronic the only thing i wish for on the gl is more horsepower and faster gear changes

Mercedes GL very well oiled luxury machine. Exceptional comfort! after you drove the GL the Q7 feels like a garbage truck.

Wait, so the Q7 wins because it is better on the road, but they are 4x4's and are designed for off-roads?

Bring the GL 550 with a 5.5 382HP V8 then we will see who is slow.

Yes ok, but what's to say people can't just buy estate cars instead? With a 4x4, even family oriented ones like these, it's good to know that you're driving a vehicle which has the capability to take you off road if you are faced with such a situation. What I was saying with my comment is that this test should be based on their off roading capabilities, not their practicality. Or even both, but because they are off road vehicles, they should be primarily tested for their off road use.

Bobio Egam my gl is now 12 years old yet it still drives like its brand new. Best car I’ve ever bought!

The Mercedes may be luxurious but the audies are so so so so soooooooooooo much better looking and we chose the audi q7 over the newest gl

they are called sports utility vehicles, they are not made for off road what so ever, they made them so that they can go off road but they are ment to be driven on road, audi a6 and a8 are both 4 wheel drive but again they are for road use

+Jim Bo Generic and unimpressive comes to mind when looking at the GL. The cuts and style lines of the Q7 are sleeker, sportier, and sexier. I won't bother addressing your pitiful 1950's comparison, given how far from reality it is

Subaru has best all wheel driven system in cars now. Symmetric all wheel drive. Volvo has best rust protection among all production cars now. It has also longest lasting engines and best safety and comfort. D5 diesel can easy make 700 000 km. The same like Mercedes, but Mercedes rusts much more than Volvo. Most reliable is Honda, Subaru Mazda and Toyota. Most satisfied clients has Lexus. German cars are not best in any discipline. Maybe only in price - they are most expensive.

Daniel Z A Subaru forester is no were near as good as a Mercedes GL off road nor would it be as comfortable to drive off road. Subaru's AWD technology is very impressive and for 99% of SUV buyers it is suitable for. Now for people that want serious off road driving the GL is more for this and it offers comfort. But if a person wants a hardcore off road vehicle then the Mercedes GL is not for them and obviously they already know this. The would more than likely go for a G class, Land Rover defender, Toyota Land Cruiser or Jeep.

Statens Vegvesen well. i have a GL 450 and my wife just bought the 2017 forester. its a dam good car and full of saftey features. the lane departure and self cruise control are much better than in my GL. I never been a subaru fan, in fact I wanted the CRV or RAV4, but these forester is a dam good car. the touring version is my favorite. i dont change my GLS but these little suv is well worth it
