Audi Q5 Front Brake Rotor And Brake Pad Replacement DIY (Audi MLB Q5/SQ5 2013-2017)

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

►Audi Q5 front brake replacement is one of those jobs that you will just have to do at some point during your ownership. The Audi Q5 on the MLB platform between 2013 and 2017 has a multitude of brake options depending on trim package and engine choice, but no matter the exact options, the process is nearly the same.
When shopping for new brakes for your Audi Q5, be sure to go to fcpeuro.com and enter your vehicle in the "My Garage" vehicle selection tool on the upper lefthand side of the screen. There, you can add your particular model to ensure that you get the front brake pads and rotors you need specifically for your Q5.
In this DIY, Aaron Davis, FCP Euro's Audi Catalog Manager, walks us through the step-by-step DIY on how to replace the front brakes on your Audi Q5 at home in your garage or even in your driveway.

    just unplug the electric brake motor. Run leads from a 12v battery to the motor piston. This will bypass all the computer requirements. Reverse polarity to drive the piston open or closed.

    Great instructional video, only problem i'm having is when I went to change my brake pads on my 2018 Q5 the Brembo calipers looked different. These calipers prevent me from simply sliding out the pads from the backside of the caliper. The calipers I have are Brembo but are designed with a closed back preventing the pads from being removed through the rear of the caliper. Also the clips are a bit different. Ive searched several YT vids for a tutorial with no success. Does this particular caliper need to be removed completely? Are you planning on doing a tutorial on this style calipers? Thank you in advance.

  • @fcpeuro

    @fcpeuro

    Hi Raider, The 18' model will have a slightly different setup as you saw! Not all Brembo units allow you to service the pads with the calipers still in place, you will have to remove the two bolts that hold them to the knuckle and service them that way. As soon as we get to that model, we will be sure to do a DIY on it!

    Hi Pedro, the light can come on and be for either the front or the rear pads. You can do a visual inspection to see if you need to do the front or rears, or scan the car to see the code. From there we recommend you replace both the pads and discs on the worn-down end.

    Not when they are coated like these. Non coated rotors come with oil on them in the packaging to prevent rust which should be cleaned off prior to installation.
