After removing the three screws pull panel up not outward to slide it off the connection points. Prying outward will break the connectors/panel mounting points.

Right? Half of the mounts in my panel tore in half, leaving the clips in the door. Thanks VAG!

I definitely would use a metal screwdriver to remove trim,use a plastic tool
