I agree with y'all. It's informative without being boring, which is a very fine dance.
Regardless of what people think about the design and styling of this car, I think Audi are going to sell loads of these.
Looking to buy one of these second hand currently, this is the best and most detailed video I have found. Really helped me with model vs cost. Many thanks!!

Thumbs up as always for a really great video - fantastic - keep up the good work. The design of the car? Personally, I think the Q2 S-line is a really super and slick design, more distinctive than Audi's norm, and very neat. And I like small premium SUV's, but we need comfy room for four adults, so we're not sure it's for us! But nice.

BIG thumbs up, you make amazing videos. The design is very refreshing and modern. More and more people like small crossovers, and some also want to stand out of the crowd. This is perfect for that! Not boring and common-looking like a Qashqai or even a MB GLA.
I like it a lot. If I was in the market for a premium compact crossover this would be it. That interior is perfect!

MrHugeKevin the Q3 sucks would rather have Q2 than Q3 would even pay extra
@mart_en
7 жыл бұрын
MrHugeKevin + Are you being serious ? The Q3 is far worse than the Q2 in almost all areas ! First of all it looks awkward with its large overhangs in front and rear. It has the same wheelbase as the Q2 but is 20 cm longer ! Inside you have less space in front and also less space in the rear ( headroom) and the trunk is smaller too plus the interior looks boring. In addition it drives less agil and more sluggish plus the turning circle is ONE METER larger than the one of the Q2 despite sharing the same wheelbase. Turning a Mercedes S-Klass is easier than turning a Q3 ! There is no rational nor emotional reason to prefer the Q3 over the Q2 ...
@dylanz9429

neumi107 EXACTLY! That interior as well is awful the only positive is the ride height that's it which I wish the Q2 would be a bit higher but the Q2 is 100 better than Q3

Great video as always! Autogefuhl you the Best...!
By far the most detailed review of the Q2 1.4 that I have come across. Thank you! I decided to pick up a used Q2 1.4 stronic in Sport trim recently (blue colorway) after watching your review. Looks different but comes fairly well equipped. I do admire the virtual cockpit (have it on my Q2) & I prefer keeping the map guidance on that screen while i switch off the MMI central screen on the autobahn or after dark. Apple CarPlay is a big plus for streaming music. The 1.4 engine feels smooth in the city as well as the Autobahn with descent fuel consumption. My Q2 does feel more stiff suspension wise due to the 18 inch alloys.
Great review as always, thank you! Great to see the Targa in Cape Town picture featuring in your banner! :D

Marc Lichte is finally getting a little riskier with AUDI design. Hope the Q2 turns into a evolution of the whole lineup. The contrasting back side has an R8 flavor with the grey panel while the taillights are not very appealing. The interior is the industry leader improving the minimalistic approach.
Very useful and complete video, thanks.I am polarized on the loving side, blue colour. Beautiful car. Bye, an italian friend

i luv the design as well as the color name ie, Thomas blue :)
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I think, when you see it in real, great car.
interior on point👌
Thomas, you forgot to mention, that with the rear seats flipped over one can also have a smooth, even area from trunk to front seats if you just take off the cover of the trunk underground and slide it into the rails right behind the rear seats as seen in 25:03 . Great car, great video ...

The outside exterior edginess reminded me Seat Ibiza 1.2l from the 90s , it was a really fun little car with some tune from Porsche...btw I have those circular vents with close/open function in my 2010 Honda Element....
I love the design
Top show Thomas!, as always the level of detail with your reporting is very commendable and informative. Calming voice as well. As for the Q2 for a start quite a number of lines within the bodywork which isn't really necessary I think. Like Audi referencing Citroen but in a subtle and sensible way. Good insight about shape of rear hatch(!) Interior still faultless even with fixed top-mount info screen.

Congratulations to Marc Lichte and his team for having the courage to do something different and to VW for trusting them. The Prologues gave us a hint of what's to come. Most of the sharp lines work well, really like the horizontal roofline and unpretentious interior. Time to retire the de Silva grill? The 2017 A8 will have all the answers. Nice review Thomas, btw yes Sepang Blue would look great on this small xover.
Another classy and well considered review from Thomas. I like the car, compact and simple, although the wheel arches look odd and those contrast c panels make it look a little cheap and like a Suzuki

For a Q2 It's got lots of great features
As usual fantastic video ! About the car, i have an Audi at the moment and i am very tired of the phonebook sized extra list that it comes with in Germany. You can easily double the base price of the car if you select a bunch of "extra's". Audi seems to strip the car of everything and then asks you to pay it separately, silly examples in this car include : Center arm rest, soft door trim, make up mirror light, hill assist , cruise control (just software), 32 different options for your side mirrors and so on. To get back to what every non german car offers as standard you can easily spend 2000 euro's and then you are only starting out. Same with most BMW (except the new 5 series), and Mercedes. This time around i am avoiding the German brands and will look at Kia, Hyundai, Toyota and a few others. Again thumbs up for your video. The car is fun but a well kitted out one approaches 40.000 Euro which is simply insane for such a small vehicle. I can get 2 Kia Niro's for that or 3 Renault Megane (inclusive discounts).

I had the top of the range Q2 #1 Edition as a courtesy car for a week and found it very comfortable and easy to drive, but a little uninspiring. Contrary to Thomas' review I thought the handling was very average. Quite skittish over rougher sections of road and at 70+ mph I thought the steering felt almost unstable and didn’t give me much confidence especially on bends. The car looks very nice, mine was in a flat grey colour and the seats were comfortable but lacked some lateral support. The interior finishes were very high quality, a lot like the A3. Space inside was great for a medium / small car. A good size boot and with the back seats down I fitted in a new fridge without any difficulty. Perhaps I’m marking it down on the handling and steering after comparing it to my TT - the difference between the two was very noticeable once I got my TT back from the garage. The biggest downside for the Q2 is that my wife absolutely loved it and now she wants one. :)

thanks for the feedback!
As a side note, you did the steering test for the Giulia at speeds of 200+Km/H. With the Q2 you reached only 120Km/H. Of corse the Audi is more stable at lower speeds. My thought anyway, keep up the very good work ;).
I love it..great car...

Excellent review Thomas. Style like you said its polarising. No interior rear handles, no rear air vents and retractable satnav, due to cost cutting. Other than that, nice quiet and comfortable crossover. mood lighting will be a big hit with gen y.

The headlights design kinda looks like the Thor's Hammer design from Volvo
@Lossyz

My thoughts too. Perhaps a compliment to Volvo...
I like the overall design both inside and out and the polygon style contributes to good utilisation of space inside. It is a pity that the back seat area misses out on air-conditioning outlets, grab handles and some features which are expected in a car of this quality and price range. The quattro with the 2.0 litre petrol and more sophisticated rear suspension instead of torsion bars would be my choice though. Nice, comprehensive review though.

Any experience with the 1.0 trim?
Audi had the perfect grille shape with pre-13 cars. Its progressively gotten worse - Audi is at its best when making smooth designs, not blocky boxy sharp edged ones with lots of ripples.
@JumaKevin
7 жыл бұрын
Agree, front grilles looking worse and worse
The design is daring !! I think Audi has taken a step in the right direction !! Really enjoy the design of the new Q2!! I hope there will be a SQ2 or RSQ2 soon !!
I personally ALWAYS retract the screen when I am driving unless I am using the GPS function (which will be unnecessary given the virtual cockpit now). I think having the option to retract the screen reduces distractions and make the driving experience more pure and fun - there is nothing block any of my view of the road. In fact this is the reason I opted for the S3 rather than the S4 - it was a deal breaker for me.
2.0l hi-po w/quattro would be my preference. Wonder if you can get 'aluminium-coloured' roof rails as an accessory or aftermarket add-on? Favourite colour would be red or perhaps black.
love dis car
I like the design of the Q2 but there is not more space on the back seats and handle for the rear seats and more expensive. Me I'll buy the Seat Ateca. But like usually very great review and explanation. +Autogefuhl is the Audi of the cars reviews. keep going.
LOVE
Virtual cockpit should be standard!
Hi Thomas... I think you're right about the form of the hatch. Those angles are so sharp they can cause problems. I've seen similar design on the back doors of the Skoda Fabia... By the way is there a possibility to raise up the boot floor..? The loading lip seems so high otherwise. A Great review again.. Kiitos (in Finnish) :)

+tupaei01 thx! I think u can get a floor cover!
Fantastic video. You guys have refined your videos over time. I appreciate you guys using imperial and metric forms of measurement! These videos are not rushed and you have a very calm attitude towards the videos as well xD This is a very unusual design for an Audi and I'm not sold on it really. Way too many bulges and concaves, and that boot lid design you pointed out shouldn't be so on an Audi. Audi sell millions of cars because of their minimalist, cool teutonic designs BMW and Mercedes lost years ago, but people still like it. The back end looks too much like a Mercedes A class for my liking, certainly not like Audi to follow trends, they should be setting them! Im more fond of the interior. That ambient lighting is very cool, but the fixed screen isn't. The fact that doesn't retract anymore will leave it susceptible to dust build up being exposed. This is quite inexpensive for an avid and for its class though, so that has to be taken into account.
Finally something original. But I am not sure if I like it or not.
I love q2
PS. Very good video👍👍👍👍

I'd love a revoew of Lexus GS450h f sport or executive. Hope Thomas will do it one day.
I was really looking forward to the Q2 because it could be my next car. But Im really disapointed when it comes to the design of the Q2. Now I cant wait for the Volvo XC40 presentation next year.
Like the overall style a great deal, but unfortunately not liking the c-pillar particularly in silver. To me it looks like they forgot to remove some camo from the car from when it was still undercover. I believe I did see some vehicles in the video with a matching color c-pillar. That would be my choice. Liking Your favorite blue along with yellow and white. You're right that you do get a nice contrast with the black parts when you go with white.
The front of the car doesn't somehow match with the rear design that well. But I still like the overall desing and especially the front!
There's no one thing everything is vitally important
in front he looks like old Audi A3 from 2008-09 and behind like new WV polo

Excellent design, I'd love to buy one.. Only one detail that does not seem right is little room for the rear seats. My height is 1.81 m... In a VW Golf is no more room. Most cars have space problem in the second row of seats and people are not comfortable....

It might be highly unpopular for me to say this but I find these next gen VWs to be MUUCH better looking than the audis. That being said they are still beautiful
Bringing home a long package from IKEA although it fits- the floor is not flat so package contents will be touching different heights at end end so possibly stressed in center- not a good design --- FLAT floors rule! Love to see comparison between this and the new Tiguan
The navigation screen can actually go down and not "fixed" there a button under the screen to put it down.

I kind of like the look, the small SUV style is sleek, but practicality wise I think I'd take a small AllRoad. The back lights are kind of a little too similar to the 500X and Renegade. Doesn't look Audiesque back there.
