Audi Make MASSIVE First Move Signing Nico HULKENBERG!

Спорт

Everyone has been waiting with anticipation for Audi to make a move in the drivers market. The team, named Sauber until the huge German manufacturer takes over in 2026, has both drivers out of contract at the end of this season and discussions about what they might want from their drivers has been heated. Now Audi have made a move though and Niko Hulkenberg is the first of their two drivers to be confirmed. What's the contract like? Why have they gone for Hulkneberg? And what does this mean for their second seat? I’ll answer all of this and more in the next couple of minutes, so don’t go anywhere.

Audi absolutely did the right thing by hiring the Hulk. This is Nico's time to shine after being left to the lower quality teams for so many years. Not only do they have a very experienced development driver but the icing on their cake is that he is German. German driver in a German team. Maybe we may at last have a German GP again eventually. Go Nico!

Not confirmed yet. Still awaiting his signature after all. But after being out for 3 years to getting a 3 year contract with a constructor is a hell of a good turn around for Hulk. He’ll be the first Haas driver to move on to another team and not be dropped out of F1. It is also a good move for Audi considering where they are. Hulk is a good development driver, every team he’s been with has moved forward with his technical input, and he is held in high regard in that area by his past teams.

This year I have been watching F1 for 50 years. My personal heroes are James Hunt, Ayrton Senna and Max Verstappen. I loved the turbo era, V12's, V10's, Mansel, Prost, Lauda, Schumacher, Raikonen, the list goes on. I'm Dutch and understand people have other heroes than Max Verstappen but besides him being my absolute hero, I truely enjoy most races to the fullest and am amazed how good the sport and drivers have become. There is no shame in being Albon driving for Williams or Nico Hulkenberg driving for Haas. They generally perform amazing for theire respective car. Even Stroll, who had one of his moments in China, was quite sharp last year and drove a GP with a broken wrist. Lewis Hammilton (I'm not a fan) has the chance to be the 1st driver to be a 8 (!) times F1 WC... Dudes/Dudettes, if that ever happens even I will find that marvelous. Fernando Alonso who recently signed long term with AM. I hope every one is exited as I am. Good things await us! Go Max! Go other drivers, get him!

Only the media plays him down because of race win records. Hulkenberg was never a bad driver, absolutely never! Which is exactly why he has consistently found a roster for so long even without a win. He’s just never got a consistently “good” car. I still remember that dramatic loss, on a rainy day at the very last corner of the last lap. He was just metres from breaking that winless record on a seemingly lucky day. Alas that skid off the track in the rain was just too painful to even witness. I’m defnitely rooting for him to get his win one day.

They never seem to be happy with Checo in the main car but perhaps they could move him to Visa RB. I like Checo and I think he could definitely help that team get going. Stroll out at Aston, Yuki takes his spot and Checo and Lawson at Visa RB. Perhaps Botas back to Mercedes? Long shot..
