I hadn’t owned my A4 very long. It was still under warranty. But for some reason, it was t going to be covered by the warranty. Would cost be north of $350 for the dealer to repair. So while I sat in the waiting room while they were changing the oil, I watched. KZread video. Ordered new actuator. Two days later I spent 15 minutes making this repair. I was so nervous I might scratch up the car. It was my first diy repair on this car.

So the red safety cable doesn't actually pull the Actuator when the door gets stuck (2012 Q7)😐

If you look on the KZread, and you see how frequently does, actuator fails, (no surprise since mine on a C7 Audi a6 was made in Italy, known for their robust engineering, and always partnering with the Germans he he, he he, he he he), I just completely remove the actuator. The idea that you replaced the OEM part with aftermarket, and it too will not fail on me…. Let’s just say that there is a better chance of a bill passing through Congress than the odds of that happening. So I completely removed the actuator and I never have to worry about it. Fuel door remains shut on its own under spring tension. When I need to fill up, I use a gym membership, key card on my car keychain to just pry open the fuel door and I am good to go with no worries that I will be left in the parking lot or at a gas pump with no ability to fill up. Happened to me twice.

I found the release handle and got my door to release. being the cheapskate that i am, i just snipped the tabs off. works fine, lasts a long time

Nice and useful video. Seems to be common fault, my S3 had an issue with it after barely 2 years. And yep it locks with the doors, at least on the A3.

It’s really not a nightmare of a job. Use plastic tools to get behind the seal and pop it open. NO TABS / TRIGGERS broken. Took me less than ten minutes. Easy peazy

would putting something like wd 40 on that actuator help keep it from sticking iin the future do you think or would that just degrade the plastic over time? good video though at least if it ever breaks on mine i think this is a job i could do, given my toddler level skills.

Nice video man, i have 2012 audi a4 2.0t when i hit de gas lot smoke coming out and the exhaust pipe it is black. Any idea what is the problem, everething looks fine injectors, o2 sensor, and the car works fine, only have that problem lot smoke (black)

Anybody else have a loose fuel door causing rattling? It seems like the hinged portion has loosened. Any suggestions on how to fix?

I’ve dropped a piston before and had to take the walk of shame back to the parts department and one time I found one broken in the box and the parts guy owned up to it.
