Audi A6 3.2 - Vacuum Power!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The vacuum pump usually referred to as "brake booster vacuum pump" is a vital part on this car that should not be overlooked. I have decided to replace mine. Watch this video to see how I dealt with it in the past, its actual roles on the car, why I am replacing it today and what happened when I replaced it.
Update: My issues ended up being caused by clogged catalytic converters. Watch this: • Audi A6 3.2 - Slow Car...

    Good job as always, buddy! Always super useful for an Audio noob like me. :) Replaced my vacuum pump a couple of months ago, because it had been leaking since before I got the car. Very interesting summary of everything it does - I'll be going over the whole thing to check for bad vacuum lines now that the weather is better. Keep it up!

    Well done Keli, no worries about your new vaccum pump, my original one, looks more like your new one rather than the old one. On mine, I took it apart to service it and kept same gaskets, but I put Permatex Gasket Maker (Cooper one) cause I didn't want to wait for the parts. At first was temporarily, but now I won't bother since it's been more than 20k and not leaking yet! Out of the 3 mounting holes (the ones on the pump) one of them i broke it. I made an improvisation and it still holds. I'll send you some pictures soon. Great video, thank you for sharing it with us!

    Well done! You do not have to turn the engine though. If you are having trouble lining it up, take a picture of the cylinder head opening to see the grooves inside the camshaft then turn the end of the vacuum pump to match it. While installing it, when you place it straight and it still does not line up, just twist it left and right and it will engage 😉

And definitely more consumption of gas I changed the injectors, clean carbon, test the pressure in the cylinders and nothing changed, and now I think I have either vacuum leak or failed vacuum pump or oxygen sensors Thank you for the help If you read this comment, I wish to know did you have a white smoke or no

    10:02 on my A6 that vaccum hose goes to the front driver side wheel housing. That hose broke a few times, got shorter and shorter until I decided to replace it with some generic one. I paid $10 for a really long one,I have left for the other ones when they do break eventually. Also, for the vaccum pump... I would use the old gasket instead of the new one that looks a lot more thinner than it's supposed to be... I found 8t very hard to put it back, before I came up with the idea to file down a bit the edge of the part going in... I broke one of the 3 holes... I pinched it and tried to bring it in while screwing it down... It wasn't properly lined up, so I broke it. I used a file, rounded it up a bit, went in by hand, than made a little of improvising... And it's safely secured in place. 20k later it's still there...

    That hose does connect to a flexible hose under the driver's side headlight and the flexible hose goes to the rear wheel housing. It is likely there is a metal hose in between under the car. Mine also broke. Here is how I replaced that vacuum hose with an original one: kzread.info/dash/bejne/mG2oqNt_dNiWcZs.html

    @@ThatAfricanGuy just watched the video, on my A6 that pipe it's a lot shorter than yours, and I would say a lot thinner. It goes from the intake to no more where the oil dipstick is, then continues with flexible hose all the way to the driver's side wheel housing, then so on. I replaced with a generic one, flexible, from a plumbing department, it does the job...

    First of all great job filming! 👏 I have a 2007 3.2 quattro can you tell me where is the MAF because I took off the air filter etc. Couldn't find it but when I take off from a dead stop my acceleration hesitates and takes a second to get going?

  • @ThatAfricanGuy

    @ThatAfricanGuy

    3 жыл бұрын

    The MAF is integrated to the Intake Manifold and cannot be removed separately. I also have the delay when accelerating or from a stop. I think the car was tuned to respond with such a delay. Normal behaviour.

  • @ThatAfricanGuy

    @ThatAfricanGuy

    3 жыл бұрын

    From further reading, I have found that there isn't a MAF at all. Engine management is performed without an air flow sensor on the 3.2 FSI. The mass air flow is calculated from the engine speed and the intake manifold pressure.

    Dang bro. You gave a class on the whole car. Great job!! 👍🏽 So we now both have new vacuum pumps. You got the exact same one that I got a little over a week ago. Did you get it from FCP Euro after I told you that’s where I got mine? Not sure you would have gotten it that quickly. I broke my original one by trying to force it in by tightening the bolts and snapped 1 of the 3 portions where you insert the bolts. I did not know that I had to turn that propeller thing to a certain position to allow it to be inserted in the the end of the cam/head area. Silly me. Great video.

    Thanks Jason! Yeah, we both now have a new vacuum pump. I actually ordered it a few days before you mentioned it. Pure coincidence. I was planning on replacing it since a few months now. I purchased mine from EuropaParts. So you did not adjust the end of it, that's why you broke your old one. It inserts into the end of the exhaust camshaft which has a groove inside. Did you replace your vacuum pump before or is this the first time?

  • @jasonpatterson7266

    Yeah. I didn’t know that I had to line up the grooves. I was just thinking that it was being stubborn. I leaned a valuable lesson. I, like you, rebuilt the ok’d pump by replacing all of the gaskets and o-rings but broke the pump before I could get it installed back on the car!! LOL. So I had to get a new one.
