Just figured I'd add a comment saying I recently received the low oil pressure on my '07 A4 Avant. I had just recently performed an oil change about 200-300 kms prior to receiving the warning. I finally got around to having a look at it today, and it seems it was related to the oil filter. I always purchase either OEM or MANN Filters, but when I was purchasing they were out of both. Unfortunately I can't recall brand the filter was, but this is just to note for people to try not to sway from the standard OEM or known/proven brands. Also, after changing I noticed that the engine still seemed to be running a little loud, and it wasn't until I gave it a bit of gas that it quieted down and code was cleared. I have driven it slowly around my area for about 10 minutes and it seems to be running fine now. Great video BTW!!! I do a lot of minor repairs myself, but rarely get right into the engine internals, and this was great!

Hi it depends on the model of car you are working on on this particular model and on most VW and Audi cars you have to remove the oil pressure switch on this motor it is just above the oil filter I remember the older VW had 2 oil pressure switch one on the end of the cylinder head and the other one on the oil filter flange so when you find and remove the oil pressure switch and then you screw an oil pressure gauge with the correct thread size and pitch and then start the engine check the oil pressure cold and then if you see that there is enough oil pressure to continue and run the engine and then bring it to around 80 deg cel. Oil temp. Check in a repair manual for rpm specs vs oil pressure .

hello my vehicle 2015 ww Jetta 1.6 TDI. About a year ago, my vehicle gave a low oil pressure signal. After a long interval, we gave the same warning again and we made a pressure measurement, the pressure was low 2000 rpm: 1.2 bar. The oil pump, oil stump, oil jets changed and the solution was not removed. All engine bearings changed and overhaul. The problem is not solved pressure again low. What could be the problem? My mechanic thinks the oil pump might be failing and he tampered with the sensor to avoid detection. I asked the previous owner and he said the pump was fine but somebody grounded the wire because the light kept coming on. I don't know what to do. Check the pressure and if it's fine chalk it up to nothing or ask the previous owner for our money back? At idle and at 2000 rpm I don't know the specs off hand but if it's ok the test or replace the oil pressure switch with and original from the dealer or the wiring is defective or something with the instrument cluster one thing to do is replace the oil filter with an original one to be sure that the filter is not clogged.

My guess is it's the same issue as last year, the oil pickup was clogged, I clean everything as well as I could, drove it for a year, changed the oil again, and then the lamp again, My guess is more "sludge" was still in the engine where I could not reach to clean, and when I did the oil change it came lose and clogged the pickup again....... but IDK.

Not sure what the owner is going to do with it I would love to fix it but there is 3 major issue with it 1. Is low oil pressure and 2. Low compression and 3 oil consumption to do it right the head need to be rebuilt the oil filter flange needs to be replace in the hope that it fix the oil pressure issue if not a new ballencer shaft module @ $1700.00 to fix the oil consumption is to put new rings minimum but to do it right is to put the updated Pistons $ 400.00 x 4 and then the intake cam is it ok as far the fuel pump cam lobe goes ? So the cheapest thing to do is put a good use engine in it I looked in to it and a golf GTI engine would work and they don't have the oil consumption issue like the longitudinal engine do so what do you think I still would like to know if the oil filter flange is to be blamed.

Really that was it? Damn and after going through checking everything too. Hey good to know for sure. Now remember the cam timing lobes video you did, well I went to an 04 golf2.0fsi and the camshaft lobes with belt on were same angle, but with my 06 plate the lobes like that threw up loads of codes. So with that vag tool t10252, I just couldn't get the lobes right. So and remembering the part online saying the cut outs in camshafts had to be vertical, i used a steel ruler and a wood working square. The exhaust camshaft was marked off camshaft sprocket, and with the woodworking square setting up intake camshaft to be perfectly vertical; i tried the engine again. Perfect. The lobes dont have to mirror each other between exhaust and intake camshafts when fitting chain on my BVY engine. I called a feiend and checked camshaft part numbers on these two vehicles. They even have different camshaft part numbers. Interesting I think. So 2.0fsi time up differently. You have to be specific about the engine code and then use the correct method for that specific code.

I always regularly performed maintenance with Castrol Edge 5-30 oil and original filters , however, I'm still worried about the possibility of such a failure, even if for the moment everything is perfect . I have traveled 215,000 kilometers and I would be happy to continue . Should I do to change the chain , rotors and tensioners , even if for the moment works well ? I found on ebay the repair kits to about 150 € , but this assumes that the replacement should be done in a multi-brand company, in Vw they do not accept spare parts by customers , and I think it is much more expensive . Hi usually if it we oil it would smell like oil and then the color of the smoke would be blue but sometimes if its synthetic oil then the color could be white usually it the turbo is blown the oil pressure should not be affected but if you had a really low oil pressure then you're turbo could be damaged the only way to tell is to remove the intake hose on the turbo and then grab the end of the turbo to verify the end play and the up and down play your low oil pressure could be cause by a restriction of the oil pump pick up tube in the oil pan.

+V10PDTDI thanks! its at the shop, oil pump and pick up tube change should be done by Monday.. hoping it fixes oil pressure. I was told turbo is done for tho since we found shredded metal all around inside of the turbo intake hose you can just scrape it with index finger and see all silver on your finger, so gotta replace it with new turbocharger and oil feed line n oil return pipe..

Omni Potent hi I know that even if the car has a low oil pressure light on it will start did you had a check engine light on beforehand ? You have to at least check with a scan tool to see if there is any related faults.

No check engine on or trouble codes stored. Computer works since all lights including check engine are lit when inserting keyfob, they turn off after a few seconds like normal

Had a mechanic hear the sound it makes as it turns over and said the timing belt jumped, its a interference engine so likely im screwed

  • @V10PDTDI

    @V10PDTDI

Omni Potent hi usually when the timing is off there should be a fault that says something like cam an crank correlation the only way to know for sure is to remove the top timing cover and turn the engine buy hand until the mark on the vibration damper is on TDC and check to see if the mark on the cam Pully line up it will only line up every other turn so if you're the mark on the bottom line up but the one on the cam is not even close then turn the crankshaft one more time.

Rob Gee so is your car throwing a fault code for low Boost I think it would say something like boost pressure not reached or under boost or something similar if it does then the first thing to do is check to see if any hoses are loose or unplugged but most likely is the diverter valve is probably faulty especially if it had the older design with the orange or green diaphragm. This is the new style part 06H145710DKT the part is bolted on the side of the turbocharger with 3 Allen bolts there is a connector with 2 wires if you unplug the connector and see lots of oil in the connector then most likely the valve is defective but I've seen oil with a good valve make sure you don't break the connector on the valve it's the same design as the one on you're air flow meter connector but smaller you have to push in on the connector and with you're thumb press the tab back and then pull on the plug practice on a more accessible connector you will figure it out.

@Hitman I wish I had time to learn how to fix my Audi, it's always having one issue after another, it's running OK now, except now the AC is broken! It's making me not want to buy another Audi again. Super expensive car to own, as far as repairs go. And the sad part about mine is that my oil pump was actually converted from a 2.0 to a 1.5, which caused a lot of problems initially, I threatened to sue the mechanic if he didn't make it right, the conversion was supposed to be the cheaper route too, but ended up costing me more money in the end... well over $2000!

Dude Check the Cam follower its probably shot and that why you losing compression you don't have enough fuel pressure to keep up with the motor. Those Cam followers are shit and they should be check every 10,000 to 15,000 miles because of wear on the cam journals.

  • @V10PDTDI

Did you check all the video the car had a low oil pressure because of an aftermarket oil filter that the owner had just installed and after replacing it with a OEM quality filter the oil pressure was OK there was no abnormal wear on the ballencer shaft module like I was expecting. Then the compression was check and it was low on some cylinders don't remember witch one have to watch the video again but a long story short it had burnt exhaust valves and a blown head gasket between two cylinders I don't remember in what conditions was the fuel pump lifter and lobe but if it was worn I'm sure I would have changed it like I have on other FSI engine with the same design i usually suggest replacing the lifter at least every 80 000 km's for the first one and 60 000 km's for all subsequent replacement.

Hey man, let me ask you a question: I have a 2.0 TFSI, same as this car and got 9.4 bar on all 4 cylinders. it's got about 250 000 km on it (dash says 190 000) It's very low for this engine, what I've heard it should be around 13 bar. Also from time to time I get 3 error codes: low performance for the cat, air fuel ration to low on idle and something about low engine power. I'm thinking timing belt or chain issue. Can you give me any other hints?

one thing i will say is if you have a cat code then youve burned up the material inside and it has to be replaced or no matter what you do the light will not go away and catalytic converters are extremely senstive if you drive it while your car is miss firing for a short time it will ruin the cat because its dumping unburned fuel into it and burning it in the cat which ruins it im afraid..
