Audi A3 High Pressure sensor (G65) Teardown
Ғылым және технология
After washing the car 'the final straw I guess' I was left with no A/C due to a failed sensor.
This is the G65 High Pressure sensor, if this fails you will find the 'econ' light will be stuck on and the A/C will be disabled.
In this video I teardown the old one to see whats inside and the extent of the damage.

Thanks for confirming that removing the sensor doesn't vent the refrigerant

No problem
Is it possible to jumper the plug to get the A/C to turn on in order to test if this part is the problem without using VCDS?
It’s a microprocessor of sorts. Over engineering at its best. Supposedly this switch can control how often the compressor cycles based on a PWM signal from that sensor. The duration of the pulses determine the clutch duty cycle of the comp clutch. The pulses are determined by high side pressure against a “bladder” which the processor then signals back to the controller and the clutch is actuated and released! Having issues with 06 Passat and started doing some homework and found this out. Tried a traditional jumper but didn’t work at all. Def not a regular on off switch
It's a transducer or load cell using a piezo crystal which modulates the reference voltage based on the pressure sensed and sends that back to the control module.
it doesnt release it does it? i was watching another vid and they just took it off.
So any rubber o ring that fits in would be fine??
I have the same symphoms on my A3 2006. The A/C suddenly stopped working and the ECO mode from the HAVOC is stucked. After checking with the VAG cable it shows that the "high presure sensor" has broken. ....Is there any tutorial about how to replace that G65 sensor in an Audi A3? thanks
Thank for the video! So because it's a one way valve it is possible to unscrew the sensor without taking al the refrigerant out. Is that correct? Thnq

yes on my car you can remove it without loss of refrigerant
But did you do a vid to show how to remove and replace on the actual car? Thanks R.
Excellent video... I have a 2004 Audi A4 Saloon 1.9TDI Sport Quattro and have had the same challenge with the ECON light on the AC system. I used a file rather than the side cutters and took the switch apart in a little more gentle fashion. I have a very different theory and photographs on how this little switch operates. How may I get these to you??

Ranjit Rakhra hi thanks for your comment, I would be interested in seeing your photos and theory, you can email them to gareth@electronicstuff.info

yes you need to use a Crowfoot Wrench. no need to dissemble anything
hi, i had the same problem, so i changed the high pressure sensor. which i buyed from the local sparepart shop. NOT original. The problem was still there. We checked on gasleak, everything was ok. i put 12 v on the compressor. was ok after i buyed another sensor from a different manufacturer. Still same problem :) i cheked the whole wiring nothing strange about it. later i ordered an original one from audi. that solved everything !!! it took me 3 days to solve the issiue ;) BUY ORGINAL SENSORS
The gas is inside the piece?
Am I the only one who hast a problem with Aftermarket AC sensors? Finally I go and buy AudiOEM one....
Fucking show us how to fit it 😂
And this video explain nothing other than is a pressure sensor .....no shit shirloc

@@ElectronicStuff do you know what kind of signal it sends to the module? is 0-5vdc, 0-10 vdc, 0-20ma, 4-20ma, resistance?
