I inform you that the tensioner of the chains of the camshafts can fail but that is not going to cause the valves to bend. I have cut the timing belt and the 8 exhaust valves all bent, but the 12 intake valves were perfect. 1.8T AUQ 9.5:1

Yeah after I posted this video I was thinking it was more likely a hydraulic tensioner failure causing the timing belt to skip.
Good job man.. I just had an accident in my A4 avant 1.8t auto with sports mode.. Now I just have a 126k motor sitting there. Plenty of parts

Thanks man! Oh no, so the car is a loss then? If you can, try and find a B6 S4 shell with blown V8 for cheap and swap your 1.8T in it😎

Woops sorry missed this comment! I would check local classifieds like Facebook marketplace, Craigslist, or Kijiji if you're in Canada. Also try to find local VW/Audi Facebook groups and you can usually find a community of people with similar cars with part-outs or cars for sale etc. That's how I got into cars more than 10 years ago!

Thanks man!! I got mine from a local parts supplier that specializes in German cars. I didn't know it existed until I looked it up. Try your normal parts suppliers and check if they have a manual variant of the tensioner. If not you can always go with the IE or LPS Fab billet ones. Good luck!
I know this is an old video, but the bottom head surface (where it meets with the head gasket) did not seem to be shaved/leveled at all, did it seal correctly after mounting the head? Did you have any over-heating issues or cooling hoses rupturing ?

I believe the machine shop (@cutteruprob) checked it for straightness and it was within allowable tolerances. It seems to have sealed correctly. 10,000+km on it now and I haven't had any cooling issues!
