I love that museum. If I lived in Northeastern Indiana I could think of nothing better than to be a docent.

I visited this museum in 2003 when I went to Dayton, Ohio with my two sons for an air show commemorating the centennial of the first flight by the Wright Brothers, and because it was a fairly easy 2 hour drive, we decided to go to Auburn for a day trip. It's an amazing museum, and after spending several hours oohing and aahing over the cars, headed back to Dayton. Just before getting onto the Interstate, I stopped in a gas station to fill up the tank, and just randomly driving by, we saw an Auburn, which, because of its less than museum quality was obviously not associated with the museum - just an Auburn tooling along the streets of Auburn, but the crowning touch to our visit!

Missing a bit of history. Dallas Winslow, the Detroit financier and my grandfather's employer, purchased the remains of the companies, and the site, at the end of the thirties. He consolidated the three to form Auburn Cord Duesenberg Company, and operated the business on this site, providing parts and service to ACD vehicles until well into the '50's. His employee, my grandfather, H. Stanley Liddell, was the general manager of this facility.

I've been to many vehicle museums, this is the greatest one because it is in the actual building where these cars were created and built. It is a magical place. I've visited many times and will be back many more! Auburn is also a great town and is the icing on the cake! A great weekend adventure. Be sure to check out NATMUS in the same build, in the back!

I have a set of three 1930s ACD watercolor prints commissioned by AVCO Aerostructures as farewell gifts for retiring execs in the 1970s. Mine is set number 15 signed twice by artist / illustrator Don Caton. Each car is approx. 1:12 scale. Wonderful details, color and chrome effects. These are not reproduction posters, they are framed prints. I inherited them from an AVCO exec. Depicted: 1935 Auburn S/C 851 Speedster in red; 1937 Cord S/C 812 Sportsman in blue; 1933 Duesenberg Model J Tourster by Derham in green. Interested in selling them as a set only. Thank you.
