Wish Suzuki would make a two up King Quad, I'd buy one tomorrow.
I bought a used 2007 Suzuki KQ 450 and it's a fantastic ATV. I upgraded to larger 27" tires (no lift kit required) and installed EPI clutch kit for CVT. Drives great on trails! Clutch kit really woke this machine up. I prefer old school manual shift, but this KQ cvt does work well. Nyrocatv site has great mods and handy fixes for these quads. No regrets buying a KQ.
Fantastically reliable quad. Excels in every area I need it to.
Some interesting comments on the KQ 750 EPS here. I have a 2012, my wifey has a 2009 both with EPS. Now she is 5' 7", 125 lbs and handles the KQ 750 with EASE! Not once has she ever complained about the EPS (amazing for a woman not to complain), and we ride at all speeds, all terrains, and some pretty challenging stuff. I think the EPS handles exceptionally well. Maybe some of the commenters need to man up. Just sayin'. Thanks Doug for the honest, informative, straight forward reviews. Always nicely done.

Tellin' it like I see it is the only way I know to do it - of course it's been known to get me in trouble ;-)
Many thanks ATVTVCOM. It's an honor to have a second opinion from an expert who spent all those years testing and reviewing ATVs like you. Hope to see you one day on an ATV in the Arabian desert. Till then please accept my best regards.
Thanks. It's always great to hear from a first-hand experience with the machine.....
BEST review I ever listened to. I used to owned a 05 king quad 700 and your a 100% right on everything. Now I own a 2005 Polaris mv700 because I like the size(carrying capacity) of that machine for what I do. Hunting and slow easy trail riding. Deep down I know the Suzuki is the best machine made on the market to date hands down in every way. Suzuki doesn't cut corners on quality and made a utility atv machine that makes sense. Its great to go on You Tube and actually get a REVIEW. Keep up the good work
Three years ago i was torn between buying a King Quad, Grizzly, or a Can-Am. I was leaning towards the King Quad (against the advice of my Grizzly riding buddies). After watching this video three years ago, my mind was made. Bought two King Quad 750AXI with EPS for the wife and I. After three years we have had absolutely NO problems with our quads, and I have gotten quite a bit of experience towing Grizzlies and Renegades out of ditches...And we left our King Quads bone-stock, including the factory tires. No issues or problems with the factory tires, and they get the wife and I everywhere we want to go without getting stuck, unlike my more experienced buddies with ITP replacement tires. Really love the independent front brakes for climbing hills, we're glad the drive train is fully manual in regards to the 4-wheel/locking differential feature, and the ride is as smooth as you describe. Thanks again for posting these reviews! Just recently saw your videos filmed in Utah's MOAB region and was glad to see you giving the trail tours there. As i've said on one of the MOAB videos, it's definitely on my bucket list should we ever travel south to the USA. Great channel BTW!

Thanks.
The King Quad became my favorite after seeing it years ago on your show when you took several different brands up this tough mountain trail in the snow. It was a yellow 700 I believe. Don't have one currently, but my son is really pestering me for one after his weekends at a friend's where they have three ATV's. Now just to get Mom on board.
I have a '08 KQ 750. Very tough life: rocks, mud, roots, climbing all the time... and you know what? Never went wrong. Engine smooth as silk, still on stock belt, starts right up every single time I need of it. Put in it a good set of radial tires, as Doug suggested, and the handling improved quite a lot. Then added a set of Elka shocks for good measure & that made it just perfect: lost a bit of ground clearance, but now all four wheels are always in contact. Superb!
I have quite a few vehicles that tend to sit around so I learned a few years back after a massive battery purchase that those float chargers are well worth the cost - especially in very cold weather. I put them on everything.
Got it back from the dealer said it was normal. The motor shakes when its under a heavy load. I did my upper mount mod "bump stop" that nyroc has on tech tips. It did help for the shake. Thanks for all the help , i appreciated it .

Hmmm. Considering my experience with dealerships has been anything but positive, I still wonder about it. Neither one I have here seem to be that shaky. At least nyroc was a help. I'll have to look that 'fix' up. Or maybe if you get the time email me a link to the spot where they talk about it.....
Just bought a 2013 king quad 500axi camo eps..absolutely love it..so smooooooth!
Good to hear. We've got a video coming on removing the rear sway bar as we like the added travel and the smoother ride.
I just picked up a 2013 anniversary. INCREDIBLE! It is the BMW of ATV's! Rider skill is key but man can this thing fly in the trail!! Not sure some of the other ATV's could keep pace....
I'd have to agree with Doug. KQ 750axi eps is hands down the best atv I've had the priveledge of owning to date. The power steering is as doug states- incredible, once you try it you will never go back to standard steer on a machine this size. Put a good set of radials on it and never look back. The motor is smooth as glass- if your friends ride it they won't want to give it back.
The Suzuki ATV is really a near perfect ... A fine motor, a wonderful clutch / CVT and 100% lock if you want it. Thanks for sharing Fred
I love the king Quad, i had an 87, 94, and now ive had a 2007 450 for 3 years, bought it with 4500kms, and now just hit 12000, still on stock belt and brakes, and runs like its damn brand new. I find that its the best handling Sport/Ute ATV out there, for conering anyways. I actually removed my rear sway bar and found it allowed for more grip when cornering, you have to work a little harder in the bends but as it leans it just hugs the dirt, and its great for crawling too! Try it sometime.
Yes. The 500 is surprisingly good. Smooth. Unless you need all the power of the 750 (and the only time we needed it was in the deep snow on the mountain trails) the 500 is a great choice.
Nice job and thanks for the review. I bought a KQ and I'm following your recommendations. Keep up the good work.
All depends on how you look at it. I Purchased one for my Spouse. Lighter weight, easy to handle, not overpowerd, Air Cooled, 2 valve "bullet proof" engine and 2WD/4WD with Diff lock. You must look at it for what it is. An "Entry Level" ATV with reliativly low maintenance. Good Review on the King Quad, you brought up some very good points that i would have missed if i hadnt watched your video. Cheers.
You have one of my favorite machines....So I'd say the most bang for the buck will be to rebuild that one!
Definitely the machine I've narrowed my way down to, awesome review, thanks
The kingqaud is a very good ATV. I Liked the 700 so much that I ended buying the 750 a few years later. With that said its tone for Suzuki to step up and give us something new! There has been very little change in the kingqaud from 2005 to date. I love suzuki but I'm ready for more!!!

I agreeeeeee! How about a King Quad based 50" SxS?
Indeed that engine is amazing !!! And the 2013 is even more remarkable than ever.
My three favorite ATVS over the years have been the King Quad, Yamaha Grizzly, and Kawasaki Brute Force. As I mentioned in the video, I personally prefer the King Quad over those two for the smoothness, bit higher gearing, and the parking brake system.
Hi ATVTVCOM, I've been watching your videos and would like to say thanks for clear language and all the details in your reviews. I'd like to consult you about getting a new ATV that would be used for the next five years -or more- discovering The Arabian Peninsula. Where most of the terrains are soft beach sands, dunes, desert mud, small but some how sharp rocks. I may travel about 60 miles continuously and about 120 miles per day with basic camping equipment and lots of water.
Does your king quad shift easy? When you put in gear do you ever hear a clicking niose that the shift lever does?
Oh alright thanks. How about the valve adjustments... do you have to do them frequently or does it depend on how you ride? I ride very carefully never reving the engine or diong wheelies.
I'm almost positive it's 8mm x 1.25 but if you are looking for mirrors, the ones I got are via ebay and are for a Honda CT 110. Mine came from China and were less than 10.00 each. I was a bit worried, it took a couple weeks but they work great!
I bought the 2013 KQ in 500... power steering...I put the STI Black Diamond tires on it in 26"...OH! And added the bumpers on it from ATV-guru..👍🏻
You should do a video about installing this mod. Are you giong to be testing the 2014 king quad?
Good Review Doug, I'm a fan of Suzuki ATV's I am constantly letting people ride mine. And alot of people are surprised how big of a difference the ride is. I find alot of people just think it's an ATV they all ride rough. I even have a Vinson which is SRA and it still surprises people on it's smooth operation and ride. Doug do you know if Suzuki is planning on anything new in the Utility Quad department? New design? New Motors? I've been considering an EPS Suzuki for the wife, and me :P
I never used it.. If I'm not mistaken isn't Amsoil a synthetic? I'm a fairly recent convert to synthetics. When I bought a BMW it suggested using Castrol Syntex. Since then I've been fortunate enough to buy other cars with such suggestions, most recently being a Porsche suggesting Mobile One. So, to wrap this up, although I continue to use regular oil in all my older machines, my newer cars and ATVs now use a synthetic oil...
We are really not mudders so I'm not up on what's best for that use. I can say that the ITP Mudlite XTRs are really great in snow and wet dirt though....
Thanks Doug love your channel. I am looking to buy a Rhino in the spring and would like to put some rugged radials on it. What would you recommend that will not break the bank or my utv. I had several quality issues on my 2012 renegade 800 and am quite soured on buying anything new from can-am. How has your experience been with the rhino's?
could ya make that logo a little bigger? I almost get to see the bike while you're talking
I have 4K miles on my King Quad and still love it. This is my 6th quad todate an the best I have owned. What I really like is it doesnt have to allways rap out (RPM) to go anywhere. It runs at a lower rpm with all the power you need. Down side is the tires and the constant drain on battery. You can buy better but you have to shell out 3K to 5K more.
hello, big fan of the site. can you have the headlights on with the handlebar light on at the same time, also how does the the king quad 500 compare in the full size atv with smaller engine in it class.
What was the red car in the back and also the brakes on my '10 AC 366 atv won't stop locking up and squeal when you go slow or in reverse any suggestions I have tried to clean them out but still had no luck? Thanks
I'm not real sure.....I'm actually struggling with that on our RZR.....I think I'm going to try the Carlisle brand that I found on Amazon. Be sure to let me know what you do and how it all works.
Yeah I was referring to the '67 meyers manx nice car I have tried cleaning my brakes but within a day they started quealing again and I can't put the parking brake on because the brakes get stuck also i can't fully engage the brakes due to the same prob as locking the pbrake
They are the best atv , we just got one and love it
I have just perchased a King Quad 750 without power steering. I to noticed that it has smaller tires. i am looking to perchase a nice pair of mudding tires, still around the same size, yet with better mudding standards. any suggestions?
I have the 2013 did they switch tires? Mine say duro not Dunlop and they seem to work fairly good??
Thanks for that Doug. what are your thoughts on the Honda Forman manual transmission Vs automatic / thumb button shift? Also the 2014 Forman's (so I've been told) have push button 4X4 and diff lock. Do you think it would be worth my while waiting for the diff lock model? Thank you Fraser
Is the power steering similar to the Brute Force in a more speed sensitive style? I'm glad to hear that it isn't overkill like how Polaris is. Is it the best power steering set up on an ATV in your opinion?
Hey doug i currently have 2005 polaris sportsman 600. I saw a red KQ 750 at my dealer and i liked it alot do you know what problems they have like ball joints , bushings etc.
Hey doug, so i was planning to change the transmission fluid also when i do the engine oil. Do you know where the drain and fill plug is for the transmission? Thank you
Just curious how do you go about pulling them apart
Thanks doug, i believe it takes a 10w40 oil. Will any 10w40 motor oil like mobil 1 oil work or does it have to be motorcycle oil?
I'll look into it although I'm not sure I have any rationalization for needing more power from a KQ ;-)
I barely have one mile on it. Im heading to the american fork canyon here in utah, is break in period for this atv the same as a polaris? EX. Dont hold the throttle wide open, dont stay in the same throttle position for a long time etc. Is that about it you have to be carefull in break in period?
Hi Doug. I am a sheep & Beef farmer in New Zealand on a 2000 acre hill farm. I am having trouble deciding between a new Honda Forman 500 or a Suzuki king quad 750 both with power steering. We use our ATV's every day as a "work horse" from shifting animals to towing trailers feeding out hay bales in winter in the cold, rain and mud. Could you possibly help me out with my decision? Thank you.
Hey ATVTVCOM, were there any changes to this bike from 2012 to 2013? Also, which feels peppier, the 750 KQ or the 650 Prairie? Thank you.
Almost bought one of these machines.. went with the Yamaha Big Bear 400 instead. Still debating whether or not that it was the right decision.
love the zillas. Have 26" on my KQ 500. Great multipurpose tire.
Just remember to get a good set of radial tires. Probably for your conditions the ITP MudLite XTRs like I have on here may be the best - if you can get them there? I suppose anything can be gotten over the internet though.
I had a 2008 king quad 750 (non eps) and I loved it never had a single problem but it was recently stolen…I am in the market for a new atv. I'm stuck between a 2013 king quad 750 (non eps) and a 2013 grizzly 700 (non eps) i can get them both for about the same price $6900 out the door. What is your opinion of the two? Which do you think would be better? I'm a big guy and would be using it for trail riding and work around the farm. Has there been any changes to the king quad since 2008?
@ATVTVCOM
10 жыл бұрын
Both are great machines and you'll be very happy with either one. I prefer the KQ because the engine is smoother, it's a bit taller geared so it runs at a lower rpm when cruising, and it has a parking brake rather than a park position in the transmission. But, in no EPS form the front suspension can be more grabby than the Griz if or when you put more aggressive tires on them - and both will be incredibly better handling when you get rid of those stock tires.
So on the EPS version the caster is fixed?
The absolute biggest advantage of power steering (to me) is how well they work as a steering stabilizer - preventing kickback to the bars when hitting objects on the trail - especially when running bigger, more aggressive tires. You must have had a Polaris.....they're the only machines I hear about going through belts...
Temperature between 95f and 35f. I'm 6'3" and weigh about 180 lbs. Arabian Peninsula is almost a tax-free region. Therefore Japanese ATVs are almost at the same range of the Americans. Thanks for your time and efforts in reducing our chances of doing thousands dollars mistakes.
Both are great machines. I think as a workhorse, the Foreman would get my nod because it has a geared transmission and a straight axle, both of which make towing heavier trailers in hilly country easier.
Hey doug do you know what thread size is the for the mirror mount on the handle bar. Thanks
Hey doug my king quad 750 is a little hard to shift. It shifts good from N to H. But when i go to L or R the shifter knob is forced and when i apply throttle the knob moves and clicks.it has 350 miles 40 hours . Thank you.

The linkage may just be out of adjustment. Try adjusting it.
Hey Doug you should review the copperhead VDI for the king quad 750. I've been hearing a lot about it and wondering if it really lives up to all the hype?
Thinking about getting one of these. Only negative thing I have heard is a spongy feeling rear brake because of the cable linkage. Have you found the same thing?
@ATVTVCOM
10 жыл бұрын
I've found the KQ's rear brakes to be just fine - lots of feel.
How do you adjust it? I tried to adjust it today, i loosend the 2 nuts that are on the sides and moved it but i got worse and i just put it to the location it was in before.
@ATVTVCOM
10 жыл бұрын
I've only had to adjust the shifter on the Grizzly, but I imagine it's the same. You will need to adjust the length of the shift rod while it is in neutral. It may be easiest to have the machine idling to make the shifting into gears easier.
Doug, is it true that a KQ with power steering has a higher seat height than one without? I have a Suzuki catalog that I think has a misprint in it because it shows the PS seat at over 36"!
@ATVTVCOM
9 жыл бұрын
Specs do indeed show a seat height of 36.2 for the EPS model and 34.6 for the non-EPS. Why? I'm not sure. I have never sat them side by side....
How's the steering lock to lock? Is it tight like a Yamaha or maybe, say, rather wide like an Arctic Cat?
@ATVTVCOM
10 жыл бұрын
Very close to the Grizzly without a head-to-head comparison.
Hey doug ,so i went on a test drive on KQ 750 EPS. And the steering felt stiff and hard to steer compared to my 850 eps the 850 steers much easily, is it normal for the kq steering to be a little hard to steer. Thanks
I mean does the shift lever jerk a little bit when you put in gear and give it gas?
@ATVTVCOM
10 жыл бұрын
It shifts very easy. No other glitches. I wonder if your idle is too high as well.
Glad to be of service.....
I watched,then I bought one.It's been great thanks.
Do you know were the manufactor date is on the atv?

Yea I Got One Of The Rack Bags Made For A Front Rack And Used On The Rear Of My King Quad And It Fits Perfect, I Mostly Do Trail Riding So I Enjoy The More Sportier Design, I Love The Brush Gaurd You Reviewed For It And Like How It Braces At So Many Points To Make It Functional As Well As Mean Looking! I do hate adding weight to the machine, but after climbing over-around-by a fallen tree and running one of the limbs right through the front plastic and narrowly missing the radiator and hoses.....And as I mentioned in the review, the ECU almost makes the KQ feel like a Brute Force!
@thmper4u
10 жыл бұрын
I Haven't Ever Ridden A Brute Force Personally But Heard They Are Beasts! Problematic Due To The V-Twin, But Powerful LoL But Im Looking Forward To Getting My Hands On A Velocity! O, And I Bought Some Little Aluminum Plates To Cover My Plastic Grill Mesh For Just What You Said, Branches And Such Taking Out The Radiator But The Brush Guard Is Much More Effective, Also Protecting The Plastic Bumper And Headlights, And I Love The Tie Down Option For Quick And Easy Securement For Trailering
Was there any changes for
Speaking of which, Doug, whats your opinion on Amsoil?
I'M AN OLDER GUY KINDA BIG WITH A BAD BACK WHAT WOULD BE BEST KQ750,BF750,OR CAN AM800
I googled "Honda CT 110 mirrors" and they came up and in the specs it said there 10mm . Thanks for the help.
Are they both reliable, or is one more reliable over the other?
I purchased a 2009 left over in 2010. I have had no problems at all with it! Sold it about a year ago! And boy do I ever miss it! She was a camo 750. And ran as smooth as a dream! And would pick up speed more than fast enough for me! And go through any mud hole I ever came across! So I am ready to get me another one real soon! And again I am getting a left over model. Brand new just not a 2015. You can save up to a couple grand just buying a left over. Makes cents to me. Besides all the other good things about a King Quad AXi 750 . The reason why I love this ATV is. Personally I think its the best looking Quad out there in my book! Looks like a small 4x4 jeep! And yes I will have the camo model. Because I use it for my favorite hunting transport. Coyote Hunting!!!!
They recommend to adjust them after breaking, but I've seen them stay fine for thousands of miles.... Run good oil.
Hey doug, i just wanted to say im very dissapionted with my king quad. now i need new motor mounts. It has only 353 miles! I guess that explanes for the hard shifting. Im taking it to the dealer friday. Wish me luck.

Ah Ha..... Hopefully they take care of you, the problem is solved, and you can fall back in love with the KQ ;-) Keep me informed....
Indeed! E-mail me through the website when you get your new machine with some pictures of where you ride!
I got the zilla lights on my KQ 500 hundred. It handles way better and no power loss.
It should be on a tag on the frame....I think under the rear fender.
Thanks.......Just wait until you see the mods !
I have the option of 2013 KQ 500 AXi EPS Camo for $6200, or 2013 KQ 750 AXi non-eps for $6000. Both brand new. Tough decisions! I am not a huge power junky, and if needed I own a raptor 700 for that. Judging by your explanation EPS is a must on these KQ. What do you think? Oh and it would be bought during Louisiana 2nd ammendment tax free weekend.
@ATVTVCOM
10 жыл бұрын
That's a tough decision. Although many power steering systems are over-powered, the Suzuki unit is one of the best! The 500 has all the power you need/I needed with the exception of riding in deep snow in the mountains. I guess you might relate that to deep mud in your area. So, power steering with enough power or n power steering an extra power. If this helps, my personal KQ does not have EPS ;-) And those are GREAT prices! Maybe you should buy them both!
Are you giong to review the 2014 king quad 750? I heard they made some changes with the motor.

Hey there. Yamaha Grizzlies are very popular where I go riding. Have you done a recent review of the Grizzly 700 or 550? If not, any Grizz reviews in your future? BTW do you prefer a Suzuki KQ or Yamaha Grizz over a Kawa Brute Force atv? I hear great things about the endless power of the Kawa BF, but I do a lot of slower driving thru swampy muck and fallen tree branches. Not sure if I need a V twin, but I do like a larger engine for low end grunt in the deep mud I ride in during the rainy months.
@ATVTVCOM
10 жыл бұрын
The Grizzly, the Brute Force and the King Quad are by far my three favorite machines. The Brute Force has instant and tremendous power. The Grizzly and the KQ are more subdued but still with plenty of power. I prefer the KQ for a few small reasons - it has a parking brake rather than a park position in the transmission, an incredibly smooth engine, and a bit taller gearing for lower rpms at cruising speeds.
@OGBB33
10 жыл бұрын
Sounds like I can't go wrong with any of the three. I'm surrounded by polaris, Arctic cat, and can am dealers. I'll have to make a special road trip and check out Suzuki and Yamaha. I like how the KQ & the Grizz still offer steel racks. So much easier to anchor my gear down to. I don't feel safe unless I have some basic tools, tow rope, and extra fuel on my rides. I seem to be the only one in my riding group that brings them and they always get used.
I am debating between the 750AXi EPS or Can AM Outlander. What do you think?
@ATVTVCOM
10 жыл бұрын
The KQ750 is one of my all-time favorite ATVs (smoothest engine, great transmission, a parking brake rather than a park position in the transmission, great brakes, and perfect 4wd system) and it's MADE IN AMERICA! The Outlander has a limited slip front differential rather than a locker, single braking system rather than dual, very grabby area braking, but a GREAT suspension. And it's MADE IN MEXICO!
No problem....Think about it for a while...Is over-easy the answer or is simply easier the better answer ;-)
Ok if you could tell me the size it would be awesome. Thanks agian
Wow thats different news from compared to polaris XP there ball joints and a arm bushings go out at around 300 miles thats insane!!!
Thanks
