ATV Oil Change Costs at Your Dealership | Are You Being Overcharged?

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In this video, I discuss how some ATV dealerships are overcharging for oil changes. ATV oil change costs don't have to be so costly. A basic oil and filter change for an ATV should not take an experienced mechanic any longer than 45 minutes. The cost of good synthetic oil and a filter is less than $100 dollars. So why are some dealerships charging around $300 for this service? Watch this video to learn how you can save money on your next ATV oil change service.

The first accessory you buy after buying an atv/utv should be the shop manual. Most are available online in digital version. With a little mechanical aptitude it will paid for in less than an hour.

I always found anything atv related to be inflated. An atv cargo box can run $300 and the same size box non related is $60. Im glad you compared your truck oil change to your atv oil change, it shows how ridiculous they are.

That's a general discription.. You wouldn't know how many customers have ruined engines because they stripped bolts or not do the seevice the right way.. You can do it yourself but you have to know what you're doing 🙏

Absolutely a purchaser job! Also, changing antifreeze ( only removed the bottom plug to empty the coolant, no inner fender removal necessary ), changing air filter to UNI, grease all zerks, change front and rear diff fluid (had to purchase 1 socket), upgrade primary clutch (RNG parts- amazing performance difference!), add ViPair fairing and add CF storage box. All of this together at the dealership would have been well over $1.5 K USD just in labor! Dealer? What for? Thanks to folks like Roland and Steve, I can reference Rob Schneider: YOU CAN DOOOO IT !!!

I do my own maintenance on my ATV and motorcycle and car and truck and anything else that has an engine. I do some friends and family cars and trucks and motorcycles and usually ends up about $80 to $100 for a full synthetic oil change. I also Load test the battery check all the lights and lube all the door locks and hinges and tire pressures. I’m a retired mechanic, but prices at dealers are getting right out of hand. Doing my ATV oil change cost me $56.43. 2.5 L of 5W50 AMSOIL. oil filter $9.50. Seal/gasket $4. and 1/2 hour of time.

When a car goes into a shop usually it’s a charge of .3 of an hour to do an oil change plus the materials… I always encourage people to change their own oil on everything they own because you can use a better filter if available and better oil, Great video Roland

I do my own work , but just looking at oil prices (@a stealership) for various brands of oil there $11 + a quart , I put on the spin on filter, haven’t found any filters cheaper than $11 , so bare minimum $44 in “parts” plus a little grease and 1 hr of my time ……not terrible , I wouldnt pay more than $150 @ a stealership if they used premium oil and filter and charge $100/hr labor

I had my Cforce 1000 for the first service so i dont know what they actually do there but it cost about 500 US dollars and that is about 5300 norwegian kroners who we use in Norway so from what is se they only change the oil and filter and cheking around the ATV that is all so next time i change the oil and filter my self. And for my car who er pretty new it cost about 110 dollar for a oil and filter change! And one more thing they sell those oil and filter packages from Cfmoto and they are pretty expensive too and if you buy the filter and oil your self from a normal store who sell oil and filter to all kinda thing the price is under the half of what that package from Cfmoto cost!

We just purchased a 2024 Zforce 950 trail, it only has 2 miles on it, so I wanted to see about the maintenance costs on it, and wanted to get prices for oil changes, believe it or not, the quoted me $528.00 US, but if bought the maintenance program with it, it was only $118.00 US. Why the hell is it so much and why does it cost me even AFTER I bought the maintenance program???? I will be doing my own maintenance.

If people are dumb enough to not ask up front what the cost is, or pay that amount, they get what they deserve. You have to remember there are a ton of college grads out there that don't know much about most things. Changing oil and flats are among those things...

Do you buy the cfmoto oil and filter or after market? It is 89.99 Canadian for the kit. So the dealer should not charge anymore than 150.00 Canadian but like you said, there are many that over charge. If these dealers were honest, they would get a ton of business anyway as it would be easier to let them do the maintenance.

The CFmoto oil change kit is $90 plus tax, plus me having to drive to the dealership to pick it up at $1.70L in gas. That’s 3 liters of recommended (warranty) synthetic oil, the filter and a new O ring. I change my own……still a $100++. The dealerships have to make money. Sometimes I wonder how they stay in business.

  • @eddale5557

As he say it is NO need to change the O ring or the watcher at all every time maybe every 3 or 4 oil change it is nessesary! And on my old ATV a Kymco MXU 400 i had for 12 years i never changed the O ring or watchers and it had never any leaks. So i used the same O ring and watcher 12 times since i changed the oil every spring!

The warranty have diffrent things and the thing on a ATV who never get fulty is the engines they work and work it is never any issues with that before maybe after 10 years or so so nothing to be scared of on a warranty actually for the engines as far as i have seen! I have had mc and ATV for ages and never had any issues with the engines on any of them as long as you change oil and filter maybe 1 time in a year or every 2 years it dipend how much you use it as for me i change every 2 years since i never drive in the winter!

The entire industry has lost its mind. My wife's VW dealership wanted $508 for a Jetta oil change. The only barrier to doing your own oil on these new atvs is the torque spec for the bolts. I could see that intimidating ppl from trying it themselves.
