attitude vs bb series yamaha bass comparison

Музыка

Hi,
In this video, I am going to introduce you to my Yamaha bass collection.
We will cover the, simply amazing, Yamaha Attitude Ltd 3 and compare it to the Ltd 2 and Ltd 1 models.
Then we will compare them to two of the current Yamaha BB Series basses, the BB434 and BB734a. Two of the best value basses I've ever played.
I can remember walking into a guitar store, around 1990, and seeing this weird blue bass, with a neck pickup and gouges out of the upper fretboard, thinking "That is fantastic!! Who would have thought of that?? How can I get one!!".
After 30 years, the Attitude Ltd is the longest running signature bass in history, and still my most favourite instrument.... BUT.... do the modern BB Series now compare, since a number of the Attitude "enhancements" have made their way into the product line??
Let me know what you think....

Great in depth review. I recently picked up my 1st Yamaha bass after 52 yrs w/ Fenders. I chose the BB434 because I prefer passive and it was light at 8.0 lbs. I love everything about it, especially the neck and pups. If I do change anything I may have the frets filed down some and re-crowned, I'm used to vintage small frets, but these sure do the job so maybe not ! I have to say I think this is the best value bass your money can buy...total pro bass. It's beautiful and balances perfectly.

Hi Doug, thanks very much for the feedback. I agree, I believe that Yamaha are making the best value for money instruments out there at the moment.

@@therecklessempire I also noticed a while ago that the bass player from Myrath, Anis Jouini, plays the 5 string version on that bass and is featured on many of their songs and has this amazing pressence within their mixes. kzread.info/dash/bejne/k6WM06ufqcSYkrw.html

Had a Fender American Deluxe Jazz Bass V that was terrific and I couldn’t bond with it. Listed my needs and wants in hopes a Fender would cut it. Yamaha BB735A checked every box and does it for less than $1K shipped with a gig bag. In all honesty the BB735A is all any bassist would ever need. If you want a 4, you just heard the 734. It’s as fine sounding as the high dollar examples. Vid was well done and would be extremely helpful to those who are deciding which way to go. I’ve played Fender mainly for 50 years. The Yamaha replaced the expensive 5 and quickly replaced my No.1. The Yamaha BB735A is now my go to for any gig.

Great basses. You’re wrong about the LTD2 neck attachement though : it has 4 bolts and is VERY sturdy. Just take the pickguard and the neck pickup off and you’ll see ;-)

Hi, you are correct, the other 2 are under the pickup and pickguard.... Thanks for calling this out, I always forget they are there.

Is there any different on the neck profile between the Att 3 bs att 2? And how about the weight between those two

  • @therecklessempire

I haven't noticed any difference in the weight or the neck profiles. The neck on the III is nicer to play, and the pre-aging process that Yamaha does to it seems to make a difference to the tone.

The Attitude II from memory wasn't nearly as expensive as the Attitude III - those things are mega bucks!

Hi triv, thanks for watching. You are right, the Ltd II was about half the price of the Ltd 3, but with the way Yamaha have aged the timber, and the updates to the neck joint, etc, it is definately a premium instrument, up there with the MM Stingray, etc.
