Attempting to Flip a $300 Tandem: Lessons Learned
Спорт
Thanks for watching today. The story started off a little rough when I found several cracks on the deck of what I thought to be a structurally sound kayak. I quickly went from, "How much profit can this kayak make" to "How do I get this thing to a good home, and save this video project!"
It ended up being the best possible ending I could think of, thanks to the power of our amazing community. Dimond and his owners will have lots of fun this summer, and everyone comes a way a winner!

Paying it forward makes the world go round. I’ve had so many people reach out and help me along my journey, it’s the least I could do.
Nice video! Good to know all of the things to look for.
that was really good if you to help that veteran and his wife and the critter out at least we know if there's still some good people out there that UV protectant that you held up is there anyway of actually posting what that is in the manufacturer I would really appreciate it
This video definitely reminded me it's time to make sure my kayaks have some fresh UV protection on them.

Yes ⬆️
That was nice of you
Great work. Informative witht the plastic welding. Mate giving the kayak away to a vetran was a great thing to do. It will help the family out. There is not enough support for vetrans these days. Cheers from Australia. 🇦🇺

Thanks for watching all the way from Australia! Cheers
That was so kind!
That was an interesting video with a great ending
Doing The Right Thing is an uncommon practice in today's world!
Glad you helped that family. Me an my wife raised newfoundland dog that we sold. We gave a couple of babies to wounded warrior program to be given to vets as service dogs. Due to my health problems we decided to give our last 2 liters to wwp total of 18 puppies. Wwp of New Jersey picked up the puppies an by weeks end all were placed with a vet to be trained for service. They gave their best for us an to help them out wasn't much of bother for me. God bless you in all your travels.
That was a great way to "flip" the boat.
Great tutorial, and class act Dan.
I have been doing autobody for over 20 years they definatly make other attachments for plastic welders and stamp kits to match the texture of whatever you repaired

I’ll have to check it out. Thanks
Just like when I used to buy mechanic special cars and motorcycles. Thanks for the heads up!
Nice job paying it forward.
Thank you for informative video and very heart warming
Great video Dan catching things to look for
Thumbs up Dan. Happy spring!
Awesome video!! I learned a bunch of stuff!! Thank you!
Well done Dan!
Great video, and a great gift to some good folks. Thanks for helping us understand what to look for in a used kayak, and to see what can be repaired if necessary.
That’s awesome, brotha! 🤙🏽
Sweet deal bro keep it up I’m kinda dived head first into the white water scene ever sense I moved to Idaho!

That’s rad!
Once again Dan proving that he is not above making a mistake. Brought back a memory of when you "flipped" a fully loaded kayak. Too soon? Sorry, you are awesome. I'm still grateful that I found your channel a few years ago and the incredibly informative videos that helped me make better decisions right from the start.

😂 good memory. Now can we never bring it up again? 😛
Good Man ❤
That's a nice thing to do ❤. I've got 2 kayaks here in the UK I'm planning on giving away, an ocean kayak kea and an ocean kayak scrambler. I'm just waiting to find someone deserving who doesn't just sell them on!
God bless you
Do you remember if the drain plug had been left open? Leaving it closed over time could be the cause of the cracks.
Great video ,its always better to buy something that is clean that way you can see everything properly . I say buying a dirty kayak is like picking up a dolled up girl in a bar and worrying what its gonna look like the next morning with no makeup on

303 protectant is a most for plastic Kyaks
My kayak’s are always garage kept, oldest is13 years old.
Good Karma!
Dan, that's so cool of you to do. Question: I have a 13ft kayak stored outside because I don't have space in my garage. It's in a fairly shaded area and I have it covered with a plastic tarp with bungees. Is that sufficient enough or should I do something else to protect it? It does get hot where I'm at (Sacramento).

Keeping it in the shade it good. Applying some 303 protectant to it every few months will definitely help it stay in better shape. Fights the UV rays.
So do you spray that 303 over the boat like sunscreen?

I googled it , thanks
Is that spray good on a pelican plastic?

Yes for sure.
I have watch your channel on and off, if you say the boat should not be stored out side , because the sun and what it does to the boat, how will the snow be as bad?
@HeadwatersKayak

If it’s outside and covered it should be ok. It’s the UV rays of the sun that breaks down the plastic.
