“Why would I care about their well-being? Each Pokémon we’ve caught so far serves one purpose, and one purpose only: to make. Me .A champion! “ sounds like something a rival would say if they were slowly turned into a villain, and I really hope that if Pokémon decides to write a character with that kind of arc, they use this exact line.

Yo that would be so cool like a friendly rivalry with a neighbor but over time as you beat their team over & over, they become more jaded and start getting stronger than you until they're programmed to beat you at some point in the story, becoming impossible to challenge until going through other stuff. Game Freak, hire me!!

Watching Pokémon Challenges react to this gave me an entirely new appreciation for all the little things Alpha did. Like how he pronounces Jan's name right at the start then intentionally gets it wrong for the rest of the video, how he parodied his ad-reads, his tendency to pause the videos. Alpha really is a fantastic writer

Purely out of spite, Alpharad did a SmallAnt and followed the way Jan intended. He gave more effort to this than most pro nuzlockers, grinding his stats to be a _perfect_ as Jan wanted. He's like a kid proving that his parents were wrong by becoming successful and I am _all_ for this dynamic.

Attempting the "PERFECT" Pokémon Nuzlocke: The Salty Runback Edition This video was like if Joey Wheeler actually built a good deck out of sheer salt of losing to Kaiba and then used it to completely dominate a major tournament to rub it in his face. But then again, Kaiba's reaction would probably be something like: "Huh, looks like this third-rate duelist upgraded to a second-rate deck, but he's still a loser."

Alpharad’s three nuzlockes represent three different stories of the same person- The first one, a young and reckless trainer who makes mistake after mistake, yet has the best intentions and still emerges victorious- The second one, an experienced trainer who gets a taste of power for the first time and feels unbeatable, but gets humbled and falls from grace- And the third one, a hellbent trainer obsessed with perfection who becomes self absorbed and narcissistic. And then there’s the fourth soul-link guy who beat the champion before his partner got through the second Pokémon.

Jacob’s decent into madness just made remember something: Wasn’t one of the points of nuzlockes to forge a connection with your Pokemon? Like you were supposed to name them, get close to them through them surviving harsh battles and then feel despair when they died? I guess I just kind of forgot that because most of the big nuzlockers treat them more as complicated challenge runs, along the same lines as single pokemon, monotype or level 1 runs, and just see the Pokemon as something you use and then either discard or keep around until they die and you replace them. I admittedly don’t do nuzlockes (tried them before and didn’t really find any fun in it) so maybe I’m just talking out of my ass here.

I love the character development through the nuzlockes. From a hero rising to an ashes, from a supervillain being ended by his own endless power, driven to insanity. Desensitized to death, looks to slaughter everything using pokemon as tools.

Pro Nuzlocker when a pokemon dies from a mistake: Wow, bad move, should've switched Pro-Nuzlocker sacrificing 3 pokemon to beat a fight: And that's how it's done!

I mean they have a point. In a lot of situations at least 2 pokemon are death fodder to keep the 1 or 2 extremely important mons alive, like Salamence or Dusklops in the case of emerald kaizo

Late, but most of the time the “sacrifices” do matter a lot, whether it’s due to momentum or simply too risky, whenever there’s a sacrifice, usually it is necessary in order to either not lost your ace (like a psudo-legendary that could sweet the elite four later on) or to prevent a whiteout by regaining momentum. In the end, sacrificing something like a Ratacate, Onyx and a Sudowodo to save a Bagon can pay off later on even if the other three might be strong at the moment but will get out classed later on. In the end it’s all prioritization and everyone makes mistakes (like not accounting for crits for example) but it depends on how you play off the mistake and continue is what separates beginners and veterans; the best way to learn how to recover from mistakes is simply by going out, playing and not being afraid to make those mistakes in order to learn from them.
