Attacked in the dark ground wasp removal at night / stem wasp spray review
Ойын-сауық
In this video @wasphunter7131 is swarmed and attacked by angry ground wasp during a removal at night. Lots of viewers have asked to see a removal at night so I was excited to get a chance to film this removal after sun down. This was the second removal at the same house during the first removal I was stung 4 times as well as another 4 times at this one making 8 stings at 1 house. What I've learned since KZread began is ignore the idiots! If what you are doing is successful, keep doing it. Constructive criticism can be helpful, it's your decision to take it or leave it.
Wow, going out at night armed with stem, what could go wrong? Way to hang in there man! 👍

I do I was super excited to show them me getting stung in the dark their heads must have been spinning wondering how they were able to fly and sting at night lol
I hate these things so much. I was attacked by a huge underground nest when I was a kid...I got hit over 60-70 times, probably more, and ever since then ive had a very unrealistic fear of them. I literally was covered head to toe with these things...in my underwear, socks, ears, pants, etc. Trying to explain it doesnt do it justice, but it literally was some horror movie shit. I suppose that's why I enjoy watching you kill these worthless hell-bugs so much!

I feel your pain man. I was 8yrs old playing baseball at my grandparents and an errant fly ball hit a tree and knocked down a huge bald faced hornets nest behind the tool shed. Nobody knew it was even there, so going around to get the ball was an ABSOLUTELY TERRIFYING EXPERIENCE. I'm thankfully not allergic, but after getting almost 200 stings I was going into anaphylactic shock from all the venom and ended up in the hospital. 3 of my friends also got tagged near 100 times and went to hospital with me. Was a life changing experience. I'm 52yrs old now and am still very anxious anytime I see a wasp.

Great video! Thanks for calling out the phony company trying to sell a worthless product. Shame on them. I'd like to see the people who criticize your working hours or technique to try this for themselves. You do a fantastic job! Maybe a sprayer with Dawn and water to nail the ones that are going after you. 👌

I used Spectracide RPO liquid spray, not foam, for an in-ground Yellowjacket nest, administered after dark. Wasn’t optimistic it would penetrate well enough, but surprisingly, wiped out the entire population.

Ever use some M80’s to remove a nest? I once waited till dark and then set my bug zapper over the entrance of a ground wasp nest…it was zapping wasps all night long..I try to mix it up when I remove nests 😂
I’m sorry to see you got stung so many times. Yeah that stuff doesn’t seem to work at all. Thank you for showing us your work. I just found your channel like yesterday at three in the morning. Very interesting. When I was a kid in the 70s we used to take, a hose and a fire source and like the nest on fire like not like a match like a whole torch, and before it burned anything down, we would soak it with water and put the fire out and then put the nest in water so they drowned.
Noice, just when I least expected it a bonus WH video 👌👍

I’m an old lady and I did better with a mixture of Dawn dish soap and comet cleanser, followed by boiling hot water. Of course, I had landmarked the nest during the day, and went back at night to kill them. Maybe I was just really lucky. I am so grateful it worked.
I hate the sound of close up flying wasps. As an ex-beekepeer I can distinguish the sound of bee from the sound of wasp/hornet and how do they sound when they are annoyed or attacking. The sound on your record is giving me goosebumps.

Loved this one it got personal bigtime
Apparently these guys didn’t get the memo about the no fly zone after dark. “Optimized by science?” Seems like every time we “trust the science,” bad SH!T happens.
Do you ever get the urge to just take off running when you're getting stung? My severe phobia only allows one response to wasps/bees...duck, swat and run! And that's just from one being near me 😂

Me too. I always call my pest control. Threaten to burn my house down. Lol. Show a sense of urgency 😂😂😆. So they can come sooner
I used to run into ground nests fairly regularly. One of my first jobs, I was a grounds keeper for an army base. Every summer, 2 of us had to work nights splitting it up to cover all 7 days so we could water the many, many, many large lawns the size of football fields as well as the golf course on base and be there to fix breaks that happen at night. Which sucked! Anyways, I'd start at one end of a lawn and just walk up then back down turning on all the old metal rainbird sprinklers one by one. Unfortunately, these same lawns were home to wasps here and there. Always had to be careful and carry a flashlight. Not to see what I had to do, street lights covered that. It was for watching out for critters like wasp nests, rattlesnakes, coyotes, etc. We had the occasional bear and mountain lion problem too with the base being in the middle of the desert and backed up against a mountain. We shared our shop with the base exterminator, so we marked them and noted them for Bob to take out the next day. Rattlesnake gives more warning at night than a wasp nest.
What a video! Glad you are not allergic. What does "better season" mean to a wasp hunter?
I always enjoy the verbage. "Queenies dead and so is the other guy!". 🤣
Never had any but just in the ground with a visible hole, but then I don't really have any old piles of wood like that. I just go out at night and dump a cup of Sevin dust in the hole, wait a day or two, go back out and they're dead. When I dump the Sevin in the hole, I don't stand around waiting to see if they'll come out to sting me either, LOL!
You wait until dark so they're almost all back at the nest when you attack it, instead of half of them out foraging during the day. Spraying the nest at day, your lucky to get half of them. And of course they'll fly and attack at night but ONLY if they're disturbed, see bright lights or are defending the nest. Hit it fast with a good spray and you get 'em all and fairly quickly. Works every time. IMO, nothing works as well, provided you use it correctly.
Wow! I sure hope someone from Stem watches this video. Of course they probably already know their spray is worthless….. At least in the daytime, you can see them coming. Dang! Why so many queens? Good to see you again 😊💕
@wasphunter7131
Жыл бұрын
Right they prob don’t even care they made their money already. I think hairspray would have been 1000 times better lol. With the queens it was because it was so late in the season the queen cells normally hatch near the end of the season so the new queens can leave to start next years nests

Sorry I couldn't help but laugh. Great video though.
When I was about 8 years old I was mowing tall grass in the field behind our house for a new mini-bike trail, and I hit an underground wasp nest with the lawn mower. I got swarmed and stung dozens of times- I actually remember squashing a couple wasps with my bare fingers and thumbs. So I have a particular hatred of stinging insects. I just watched your EXPANDING FOAM video, what do you think about hanging a couple of those tennis-racket looking ELECTRIC FLY SWATTERS off the sides of your net-mask so any wasps that land on it near your face get ZAPPED???!
this would have been a good one for "Expanding Foam" all Ground Nests are good candidates for the Foam :)
Come back wasp hunter man lol 😂
What is the best suit for protecting yourself from these creatures?
I don’t know how it would work on wasp, but on regular bugs,and spiders I use just Clorox cleanup spray, and it kills them almost instantly
Its a shame id love to use organic sprays, but most organic pesticides are just awful
What were you wearing underneath the suit? Nothing? What happened to the Drione dust? That stuff worked great before.
@wasphunter7131
Жыл бұрын
This removal was actually the week before the drione vid I didn’t have it yet lol. I did resort to the delta dust after the stem can did nothing though. I never wear anything special under the suit due to it being so hot when I film I’m normally in tee shirt and basketball shorts lol. When it’s really hot the suit sticks to your sweat and then your just waiting for the stings to start.
When’s the next video coming out?
He looks like the postal guy
This guy sounds like Chris Griffin.
My bf bought that stuff to trat a wasps nest in the yard. Treated it 3x and they never died. I'm allergic so I will hire someone if they are back next year.
@wasphunter7131
Жыл бұрын
Yeah stem was a absolutely terrible product I would deff recommend some classic raid wasp spray if they come back will kill them first time lol. You would think newer products would have advantages over old products apparently not
The easiest stuff I've found to kill flying insects is just soap. Just buy some bathroom cleaner, and spray them with it. The soap gets in their exo-skeleton, gets on their wings, and can kill them within a few minutes. The other thing I've heard works is just elmers spray adhesive, in another comment in one of your videos. It's hard to fly when your wings are stuck together. Likely works even better and faster than soap. Combine that with spray-foam, and you can avoid all that insecticide. For me, insecticide is good for cases where you can't see the little buggers. Ant, for instance. But when you have full access to their home, physical means of killing them works better, and you don't have to worry about toxic chemicals. Seems like it'd be pretty easy to spray-foam the nest, hit any wasps on the outside with adhesive spray, walk away for about 15 minutes for the foam to setup, cut away the nest and stick it in your bucket.
Do those suits you wear work? I thought they were meant to stop all stings. Not that I know anything about bee suits etc.
How were they stinging you through your suit so easy? Just curious was it something special? Or were you not wearing enough layers?
@wasphunter7131
Жыл бұрын
The funny part is they have almost no issue stinging through the suit. Bee suits are just like a thicker cotton shirt they can sting right through them with ease it’s the baggy loose fit that makes most the stings miss you. This day was like 105 degrees out so I was dripping wet with sweat under the suit sadly on the hot days the suit sticks to your wet sweating skin and bam they get you constantly lol
