There's also another anime that showcases grappling, its called "Kengan Ashura". Though AOT has the most realistic grappling compared to kengan ashura, mainly because its more slow-paced

I started a rewatch of this show after I've been doing jiu jitsu for a year and I got too excited to recognize the bjj moves.

Just for info sake: "In order to keep the distance and avoid punches, Eren used the [Outside Ashi Garami or 50/50] guard" It isn't quite De La Riva (because of the leg placement), and it could arguably be Single Leg-X as well. Really enjoyed the video!

And honestly I think dlr is better for distance making in a mma context. And honestly Outside ashi is literally the worst for distance making

Jiu-jitsu was created by the Samurai to fight against armored opponent. So Eren breaking Reiner's defense with it is pretty cool

@@kaiseramadeus233 no you dont understand, judo evolved from japanese jiu jitsu and became something else. Bjj takes elements from judo to create yet another sport. These sports are all different

This was my favorite fight scene because of how mucb detail went into the fighting

@@bre4kd0wn1 ​ Probably because eren is an amateur and is reckless, but you also have to take into consideration that this fight, Eren is at a disadvantage, because hes a lower weight class than reiner even though theyre the same height. And reiner has armour everywhere while eren doesn’t, so hes very squishy and light. (remember titan bodies are less dense), if he sprawled he would be swept, cuz reiner is *charging* at him.

By countering that takedown attempt with a guillotine like an amateur, Eren allowed Reiner to ride out the round on top and spotted it to him 10-9.

Shooting takedown is not exclusive to wrestling. Judo has it and has had it for years. Even Jujutsu had it thanks to actual books written during the century Jujutsu was practiced.
