ATS Diesel Thermal Bypass Valve Upgrade for 68rfe and Aisin Transmissions

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This is a MUST for any truck that has a 68-RFE or Aisin AS69RC transmission in it. Dodge decides to incorporate a transmission cooler bypass valve into the cooling system of the 68-RFE and Aisin AS69RC that bypasses the transmission cooler during cold operation.
The intent is to force the transmission to warm up faster, the reality is this bypass valve leaks and sticks in the bypass position in almost every case causing the transmission cooler flow to bypass the trans cooler essentially eliminating the trans cooler from the circuit. This causes severe damage to the transmission over time. The ATS cooler block replaces the faulty design eliminating the bypass valve and ensures 100% of the trans cooler flow is forced through the trans cooler. In every case, this substantially reduces transmission temperatures.

even with it deleted 170 should be normal temp without restriction, btw transmissions get hot quick!

Im in Az so not to worried about cold temps but is there a temp that would have the trans running to cold, thus having a negative affect and this would not be recommended? I've always been told you want trans temp above 100 degrees (considered warmed up temp) before you get on it. Thanks

It sounds like your stock bypass is working perfectly. 160-170 is excellent. The porridge is just right!

I had 170-180 degree trans temps consistently, summer or winter. Now, with the block installed I can't get over 130 during the winter.

Kenny B I believe the pre-13 trucks do not have that valve. I have a 2012 with Max Tow package and I don’t have that valve.

So much bad information I'll just key in on the main points. I'm guessing you sit behind a desk because you have no real understanding of how this stuff works. 1) Transmission fluid is not thinner when cold. 2) The whole point of this product is to INCREASE trans temps. Just like the thermostat in your engine cooling system it increases minimum temp (optimal operating temp) but DOES NOT increase cooling capacity. 3) To say someone is running at 120 degrees is ridiculous and if in fact they were it means your product is defective. If your block is set to 120 degrees or lower you might as well eliminate the block all together. Maybe the stock units were prone to failure but that doesn't change the fact that everyone who watched this video is now dumber, but maybe you moved some product. Get one of your techs to do the next video.

I think you're misunderstanding what he says, while yes he did state thinner when cooler, which is false, the idea behind this new one is to DELETE the "thermostat" from the line, therefore sending all of your fluid to the cooler, which will decrease the overall temp. It has no valve in the body like the stock one........ So while the purpose of the OE product was to increase the temp quicker, the purpose for this is to DELETE it, thus running cooler. I think he did a fair job explaining this, other than the little bit of mix up for temps and thickness.
