Hal, you are a font of ATS and ETS2 wisdom, thanks! I'll check this out as soon as I'm in the game, thanks. I kept pressing the 8 key and hoped that the resultant angle showed whether the lights were on or not. :)

Hello everyone! Welcome! Thanks so much for checking it out. :) And I've always liked the look of the classic Peterbilt, and this Kenworth reminds me a lot of that truck. Really enjoying it so far, and I'm excited to build it up over time. :)

American states tend to come out sometime in the summer and November, so I'd expect Oklahoma in June-August, Balkans in maybe September or October to fill the gap (although they might not come this year, I'm not sure how close they are to done, Heart of Russia getting effectively blocked from release really messed with their ETS2 map DLC flow) and Kansas in November.

That'd work, I was just noticing that Montana was August, so that'd be fine if Oklahoma were August. Kind of nice to have something sooner, but that would definitely be okay.

How can you not love the classic American look of the Kenny! What I do to check lights esp during day is turn them on and put high beams on and when I see the Blue High Beam symbol I know the lights are on then I just turn high beams off and no issues then - you figured it out.

Yes, thanks, and apparently there is a dial that moves somewhere on the dashboard too. I want to see if I can spot that next time I drive. :)

I have found when borrowing large sums of money you are better off to borrow in $100,000 dollar chunks instead of $400,000 lump sum. Your payments will be higher but, it is easier and quicker to pay off four $100,000 dollar loans than one $400,000 loan. It also improves cash flow.

Ah, this makes sense, thanks! I didn't do that in our new ETS2 career, but I might do that here. Matter of fact, along the lines of that same principle, I just paid off one of the $10k loans that I took at the beginning of the episode. :)

Just a matter of finding the time. So many games, so little time. :)

In the real life kenworth w900 the lights switches are at the very top of the dash the 4 switches next to the radio. And in the game you can see the very 1st switch go up and down. But your dash is really hard to see being so dark. Another good way to tell is look at the corner of your trailer in the mirrors cycle threw them so until they turn off then it should be marker lights on then lights all on then off again.

Also forgot to mention there is a mod on steam that adds a better dash display that shows you in the green screen on the dash if your lights are on

Oh, these are great tips, thanks! The mirror trick seems really helpful too. And I might look into that mod. The high beam display does show up fairly well, so that does seem like a handy way to check too.

My 2 favorite trucks in this game are Peterbilt 389 and Kenworth W900, nothing like seeing that long hood and hood ornament on the end. But of those 2 Peterbilt is my favorite, I like how the dashboard is set up on the Pete vs the KW.

I really like the Peterbilt I started the other career with, yes. That was a fun try to build up and develop as we leveled up too. :)

We got this! Money is just a fear vector. If you never fear it, you'll always find enough. :)

It took me a while to find the headlight indicator on that model. I don't think there's a dash indicator. However, the switches near the top of the console to the right of the steering wheel should move as you turn on the parking lights and headlights, respectively.

Aha! Okay, this is really helpful. I'm not in the game now, but I'll check this one over the weekend. :)

Loads are calculated on a per mile, even if it paid out as a %. Drivers still calculat as per mile. Right now loads are paying depending on what kind of freight you are hauling, flatbed seems to pay better then other besides oversized and specialized are also paying high. I pulled flatbed before so I pay more attention to it. Besides paying more, more freight to pick from since not too many people what to pull it because its too much work securing the load, but also its fun since I lover securing the loads. No 2 loads are the same so I see it as a game and a puzzle to secure it, plus you get a little workout vs just closing your back door and driving off. But not to get of the subject the loads on flat bed are paying $2 to $3 per mile on the load boards right now there’s plenty that pay even less then that, if you got a contract with a shipper its more then likely they are paying more. And short runs less the 400 miles pay better too from what I seen. Those game revenues don’t match real life. A 6 hour run means about 360 miles, thats making to the truck about $720 to $1,080. I made to the truck $12,000 in a whole week running around 3,000 miles running out my 70 hr clock. I heard there is a mod or there was one to set prices in the game to the real market prices. Not too many people like that as you could see it would take forever to make money to buy anything.

You can upgrade your existing garage for the same price as buying a new one. You do this under "garage manager".

Yes, thanks! I tend to like the value of getting 3 bays with a new garage instead of 2 if we upgrade the first one. :)

I just recently upgraded my air filters ("trash cans" someone called them). When you get high enough level, the game offers a choice between chrome (basic) or solid black.

Saaaame; I already got a shifter, played it on one monitor, in VR, and with two monitors and a 32" Roku TV lmao. Going to get a wheel and a shifter knob with range and splitter next

Hi Zilla, drove all the way down Baja Mexico, it was ok but disappointed that there are no loads to or from anywhere below Mexicali. It’s an ok drive but a bit scarce on actual true landscape and actual real town structure. I have also noticed that the rates for long haul loads compared to before the mod is way down. Canada on the other hand is a good drive with loads available. Also the game time driving in Mexico is way off, I have not been to mainland Mexico yet so can’t comment on that. Kenworth, having driven many trucks,is my go to truck, the 100 anniversary is a good one, I also have K200 mod that I like, we have a lot of that model on the road in Australia. Love your videos mate you always put a smile on my face.

Niiice! W900 for the win! Black to boot too... I wonder if you can possibly recreate #HeavyDSparks' newly acquired blue tri-axle in black (he has a black tri-axle, but its a T680, IIRC). But that's in the future, this is only the beginning, so keep rolling, you'll be in a mountain of debt by next episode!

Yeah, a long road to keep upgrading this truck, that's for sure. Eventually I want to change the paint job, too. It's time for a custom job, I think. And I will definitely be looking to saddle up some debt, expand the garage, and hire our first driver. I want to try the heavy debt load approach this time with ATS too.

I would loveee to see you do a Microsoft Flight Sim series. I find your videos so relaxing, and Flight Sim would be a whole other level. 😊 Never had a chance to play Flight Sim myself yet, as I don’t have a great PC so play mainly on Steam Deck. ETS2 and ATS work perfectly on Steam Deck but Flight Sim is a pain to get working so I haven’t yet

I actually spent a couple of hours last night getting a bit more acclimated with MSFS, made my first runs and started a career wtih NeoFly 3. 2 successful flights, 1 crash, and 1 aborted mission. I think the flight sim could be incredibly fun. I might try to make a pilot episode this week.

@@ZillaBlitzPC It's fun. I started off and still use a bunch of older simulators by Micro Prose. Solo Flight is a lot of delivering mail across the US in a small plane. Learning to fly by instruments only is a fun time.

Good to hear MSFS is coming. The PMDG 737 is a must have. the 600 is not to expensive to get started.

I drive this exact truck in my game. The light indicators are to the right of the steering wheel near the top of the dash. They are little switches and are very hard to see, as they don’t light up. Hope this helps!

I used to play MSFS. I was using autopilot for regular flights. I was flying planes manually if they had no auto pilot. i am the youngest pilot in the world

There is an engine mod I use that is called JC Amateur mod it is the steam workshop it gives you higher horsepower engines I use it for ats and ets2 my trucks on both games has 1066 horsepower

An interesting episode, especially the AI drivers. Are your lights still on hi-beam as I noticed when arriving in Raton some of the AI were flashing lights at you, just like those in real life when you don't dip your lights.

Yes, AI drivers seem to really like it in the game when I drive around with my high beams on. They are always flashing their lights to say "Thank You!" ;)

I actually prefer the T680 haha, but both are nice trucks.

It's definitely better to get your own truck as fast as possible, as you'll make more money than with quick jobs. Used trucks can be pretty affordable, and a loan can get you a truck real fast. :)

I was going to comment that continuous headlights would be good for you but then you got a headlight violation. You could buy a new truck with all the money you lost from headlight violations.

I don’t remember if you can upgrade the truck to be a 6x4 instead of a 6x2, if yes was it to expensive to be upgraded or was it just your personal choice to be 6x2?

That's a good question, I kind of stopped when we got to the W900, first version. I know we'll upgrade the chassis later, and I assumed it would have been more than we could have afforded at the moment. I'll take a look next time I play. :)

Probably because the air filters on the W900 is so passé, compared to the clean look of the T680 and other modern trucks. Anyway, about MSFT, try it at least once a week, if you can find the time. You get to fly birds that any real-life pilot couldn't fly anymore, like a month or so ago, I saw a guy fly the now-destroyed Antonov AN-225 heavy-lift plane, and another guy fly the Pelican transport plane from the Halo games!

It definitely sounds pretty cool, and the career mod seems pretty well developed.

Looking how easy it’s to get a loan in this game for a truck. Wish it was that easy in real life. When I was trying to buy a truck they wanted 20% down, 6 months of payments in the account, and they still offered me 10% and up interest to borrow money for a truck.

@@JollyRoger1718 Oh, that's very interesting. I've wondered how the loads in real life work, and yeah, that's a fraction of what you can make in the game. I mean, I knew the in-game payments are much higher than real life, but I had no idea how payments worked in real life. So those $2-$3 per mile payments don't cover fuel/truck wear, insurance, tolls, right? All that stuff you are expected to pay on your own?

@@ZillaBlitz as a owner operator that has to cover everything fuel, truck/trailer payments if you have, repairs/maintenance, fuel, ect, which those things are business expenses. Some loads might pay something called a fuel surcharge, which is extra money towards fuel. So if those amounts won’t cover all those business expenses a business will go out of business real quickly, and I’m sure the driver has his own personal bills they have like food, rent/mortgage, maybe car payment ect. So they would like to make money to, trucking is a job, the business has to make money to keep running and the driver is a employee and they would like to get a paycheck.
