ATR systems - The cockpit, an introduction

Ғылым және технология

This video gives an introduction to the cockpit in all variants of ATR 42 and 72. While being a great “office”, it’s not without some interesting quirks.

    Great video as always. Funny that a modern aircraft like this still gets fitted with ashtrays - is there a reason for this that you're aware of?

  • @FlywithMagnar

    The answer is because people still ignore the rules. Therefore, in case passengers and pilots are ignorant and place an aircraft's safety in danger by smoking in the lavatories or in the cockpit, it remains a requirement to have an ashtray.

    Hii captain .. about the seat arrangement. When i try positioning my seat to the atr recommended way i have hard time looking the top of the EADI. I feel like i am seating too high and the bottom of the glare shield panel blocks the view so i sit a bit lower.

  • @FlywithMagnar

    The position is intended for landing in Cat II conditions. What I do, is to adjust the seat so I can see the instruments and, by leaning a little forward, can see over the glare shield.

    7:51 Hi Magnar, Question asked by an viewer: Why is there an Ash tray? Smoking allowed? Thanks

  • @FlywithMagnar

    @FlywithMagnar

    2 жыл бұрын

    There's an ash tray in the lavatory, too. It is a regulatory requirement that ash trays are installed in the lavatory and in the cockpit, even when smoking is not allowed. Maybe it's time to revise the regulations?

    The 42-600, which I haven't flown. I have flown the 42-500 and the 72-600. When you combine the performance and handling of the 42-500, and the glass cockpit of the 600, you get my favourite ATR.
