LYRICS:
Head, pressure, senses, clutch
Date, divinity, wouldn't, fuck
Touched, hazy, God, change
Rush, floor, life, veins
Head, pressure, senses, clutched
Date, divinity, wouldn't, fuck
Touched, hazy, God, change
Rush, floor, life
From a head full of pressure wrest the senses that I clutch
Made a date with divinity, but she wouldn't let me fuck
I got touched by a hazy shade of God-help-me-change
Caught a rush on the floor from the life in my veins
From a head full of pressure wrest the senses that I clutch
Made a date with divinity, but she wouldn't let me fuck
I got touched by a hazy shade of God-help-me-change
Caught a rush on the floor from the life in my veins
It goes one for the cannabis, and two for your Dianetics
Three for the reasoning, and four for those that try to get it
Five for your love, and six for the stress
And seven for the day that I climbed into this mess
From a head full of pressure wrest the senses that I clutch
I made a date with divinity, but she wouldn't let me fuck
And I got touched by a hazy shade of God-help-me-change
And caught a rush on the floor from the life in my veins
I'm catching ulcers from the child-proof lighters
And all of these fine-tooth biters that keep the wires in my head tighter
I'm tired out by the distances achieved walking in my sleep
Thoughts got shifted since the high got a tad too deep
Ask dad to keep cool, I'll call him back soon as I resume normal
And get out of this bathroom
And call management to seek some reimbursement
For the nerve endings that burnt from the first hits
From a head full of pressure wrest the senses that I clutch
Made a date with divinity, but she wouldn't let me fuck
I got touched by a hazy shade of God-help-me-change
Caught a rush on the floor from the life in my veins
Head full of pressure wrest the senses that I clutch
Made a date with divinity, but she wouldn't let me fuck
And I got touched by a hazy shade of God-help-me-change
Caught a rush on the floor from the life in my veins
So fuck needles, fuck smoke
Fuck lines that make the sinus choke
Fuck chasers, trails, fuck waves and rails
Fuck hangovers, fuck hallucinations
Regurgitations, mandatory sentences and UA tracing
Blind my insight and dull the common sense
Give me inhibition, kill the superstition and the confidence
Built a tolerance, now it's more that I consume it
And when it boards up my room, the world's whores will croon in unison
Unify the eulogy, autopsy pages read euthanasia, i.e. irony
Well here I be within a pool of my drool
Sedated, windows dilated, comatose, life overdose
Tell Jacob Miles to keep it wild style
I promise I'll smile
And check the floor, God's got nice tile
Tell Jacob Miles to keep that shit wild style
And I'll smile
And check the floor, God's got nice tile
From a head full of pressure wrest the senses that I clutch
Made a date with divinity, but she wouldn't let me fuck
And I got touched by a hazy shade of God-help-me-change
Caught a rush on the floor from the life in my veins
From a head full of pressure wrest the senses that I clutch
I made a date with divinity, but she wouldn't let me fuck
And I got touched by a hazy shade of God-help-me-change
And caught a rush on the floor from the life in my veins
Head, pressure, senses, clutch
Date, divinity, wouldn't, fuck
Touched, hazy, God, change
Rush, floor, life

Brings me right back to being dopesick, lost everyone and everything I cared about begging god to just let the next shot of heroin kill me. Thank god something deep inside me wasnt ready to give up. 5 years later I'm clean, have a wife and kids, decent job and I'm a man that can wake up and look at my self in mirror. For anyone stuck in addiction dont ever give up, it took me more times then I can count to get and stay clean. It's worth it even if we all fall a few times.

Not to mention just keeping your day busy when in early sobirty is important. I did meetings everyday for like 3 months till I was feeling ok on my skin. If you ever need to vent bro I got u.

Totally agree! Old-school Atmos was them at their best! The end of Old-school Atmosphere was after You Can't Imagine How Much Fun We're Having in 2005, once When Life Gives You Lemons dropped it was very different, but overall it was an experimental album gone right. After that it's been pretty up and down with their later releases with some being okay and others not as good. I'd love to see an attempt or somewhat of a challenge for Slug & Ant to make something as great as their older albums. To have that Old-school Atmos feel; hell maybe even bring back Musab, DJ Stress, and Spawn even for an EP that'll be Legendary!!!

@@alfredobadillo2415 i really love When life gives u lemons, one of their best ever but a big styleswitch on some tracks of course. I agree with all the albums after that being a bit "hit and miss" sometimes. "Southsiders and" To all my friends " was fantastic though, "The Family Sign" really good and "Whenever" is criminally Underrated imo. "Mi Vida Local" had great moments but has his ups and downs. Delicate from that album is a top 5 track from them imo. Fishing Blues never really did it for me, not bad but im just not getting into it. Kinda have the same with the new "Word" now. FELT4U on the other hand was a super album 😁

I was a junkie for 15yrs I used to get high and listen to this song. Rap to atmosphere beats, all sorts of that. But God's Bathroom Floor..... That was the one that really hit home for me. Sleepless Nights, and Weeks I slept through, and the ungodly amount of people I've known who died from that shit. It started out fun for awhile, absolutely. Otherwise why would I have done it? It's just that the fun faded quickly but I didn't realize it til I was too deep. Waking up in strange cars in the desert, Sides of Highways, and just random places not knowing how I got there, I think the worst was the hospital, but it didn't matter as long as I had my bag. Now I'm 3yrs sober. This song still hits me just as hard as it did the first time I heard it. I'll never forget it, it was always this and then Sound is Vibration. RIP to all my dead friends.

Currently in rehab right now, meth addiction. I’ve been sober for nearly 4 months which isn’t shit compared to the 3-4 years I was using daily but for me it’s definitely a milestone I’m proud of. I haven’t been sober for this long in years. No weed no alcohol and most importantly no meth. this song takes me back to the days I would be coming down after days of no sleep laying on my bed, I felt as if I was laying on gods bathroom floor begging to get me through it and that I’d never smoke again which was bullshit at that time. Now this song helps me stay sober. One day at a time. We can do it brothers and sisters

This song is one of my all time favorites. Takes me back to high school/some of the best times of my life. Happy 25th anniversary.
Love that you're sharing such powerful earlier work with the unimaginably large and new audience you've garnered over all these years who might not be familiar with it. Such a powerful and vulnerable piece. As catchy as it is creatively structured as well. The idea of putting a few fragments of the four bar "chorus" as its own chorus and then fleshing them out into the full lines is so brilliant (just from a creative artistic standpoint) and equal parts obscure poetry as it is raw vulnerability. Peak rap, top notch atmosphere. Art at its finest. Thank you for everything you've done.

One of Atmosphere's all-time classics.
When i was in highschool i listened to hiphop but never delved into underground. This was such a slap in my face of something new. The lyrics hit so deep and cut inside. At that age i didnt notice how much these words would help me heal in the future. Thank you so much Slug and Ant you guys have literally saved me from so much!
We lost a dear friend to his despair a few years ago at this writing. I knew about his brushes with alcohol and weed and even some pharmaceuticals here and there. However, I learned at his funeral that heroin was his drug of choice. Gobsmacked is an understatement. How did I not know? Was I really that naïve? Oh my goodness. We miss him terribly. He had the best smile and his laugh could fill a room. This song is helpful in a small way... RIP DJF.

I remember this song making me an Atmosphere fan. I still remain one as this guy is a modern day poet and his words speak to me like no other's. Peace out from România!
Would listen to slug and ant for hours in my youth. With some of the best people that have since passed. Great memories 😊
His illest track no doubt.
4 months sober , this song hits when youve been through it. If you know you know .

This song still pulls so many emotions out of me. Doesn’t matter the day/month/year, it will always have that effect for me

@@Emshady08 his album “First Born” is the most influential (for me) rap album I have ever heard. He does not have a bad song. His band Carbon Carousel is also some fantastic grunge.

@@Emshady08 If you like modern rap you'll see how By The Throat influenced a lot of folks. Mikey might also be the most "dedicated" rapper ever, there was a collection of like 40+ songs about him at one point and it's only grown in the decade since. He's considered the GOAT to most of us old heads and a sore subject for some folks still. Hope you dig him, "Here for you/The River" and "Even Shadows Have Shadows" are underrated bangers too

I’ll listen to slug forever
One of my favorites, I never get tired of hearing this song!! 🥰
always come back to this song when those late nights hit...after the party, after all the lights go out, after the silence is left to be enjoyed.. buzzin, high as fuck, reminiscing..puting things into perspective, having epiphanies and breaking old paradigms..music really is therapy. even to go back at songs that helped you grow like this one..weve all come so far. keep fucking goin. this songs still a vibe.
I know I am one small fan and I am certain you’ll never see this.. but you are music helped me and shaped my early years ❤️

Same!!! It's been a min. I love this shit Thanks For this..i needed it. This the third time I played it in a row. I'm in the shop all alone and im getting it. I live for this shit right Here!!!
It was introduced to me 21 years ago. It’s still as awesome as it was then. I love the remaster
This song has been there for me throughout beak ups and deaths of close relatives. I have used it for self reflection and to uplift spirits. This is truly an amazing song and one of Atmosphere’s best. Thank you Ant and Slug.
This shit got me through alot of shit! Thank u for this song
this song got me through the beginning stages of my recovery. I love you ant. I love you too slug. thank you for being the flame that ignited the fire in my heart to live again
This song saved my life. Forever thankful
As a fan of rock, country, hip hop in that order. This is still my favorite song for a decade plus. If you need to feel something this has everything
Something about the Overcast days. This music is so different than everything else. Been listing to this song for many years and I just don’t see stopping.
I've been addicted to this track for years.
Thanks, my ears just needed this.
To my younger brother Nick, I miss you! Back in the day this song was just a banger… This will be the 3rd Christmas without you… Now this song has a much different feel… And it’s not as easy to listen to… As an older brother, I still carry guilt that is hard to let go of… I love you and miss you.
One of the greatest songs they’ve ever made.. beautiful song and such a strong message. Thank you slug for all the help and love through the struggle
Immediately bought the vinyl. This song and the others from RSE around this time have profoundly affected my life and has served as the basis of my hip-hop foundation.
on repeat all day 💜 the days of drowning come creeping in instantly with this tune. 10 years ago today I lost my first friend and sister to an overdose. many more since then /: grateful every day to have put that life behind me, but I can feel all those using feels with this one. So powerful. So grateful that this was remastered into perfection 🥀
I come back every season 💜
Your music got me through probation and I would write and write and write and write. Thanks guys. Rhymesayers is the best kept secret in the world
This song was the first song I've ever heard by Atmosphere. I was immediately hooked and wanted to hear more and more from this duo. I fell in love with his message, the pain, the lessons, it's beautiful and I will forever be grateful for Slug & Ant and this music they orchestrate! ❤
I would cry to this on a comedown. Reminded me to straight myself up. Even Slug smokes now, but I hope I'll don't have to eventually.
This was me and my old best friends song...R.I.P. Jon Talty!
This song rejuvenates memories
This is seriously my favourite atmosphere song
this song helped me so many times throughout my life its really incredible how music can help us. knowing someone else has been thru something you have is very grounding and connects us all. im proud of being a human being. even with all our inadequacies when we connect its everything. human connection is all that matters and if you get to experience any connection with someone else be thankful!! life is precious
Shouts to all those who lost a loved one.
All time favorite, reminds me of my dear homie who OD’d on heroin, he showed me this song, thank you for sharing. 🙏❤️
It’s always pure art when he makes a new song. Takes multiple listens to understand the construct it’s amazing 🤩

This song is over 20 years old but it’s timeless it will always sound to me
This song helped me out a lot as a rebellious third culture kid growing up in Kuwait. I probably listened to this song with every joint I ever lit up back then.
You know... Anybody listening to this shit we all going through shit. Just remember what makes us as people and what makes us happy. I been away from it for awhile because hit a hell of a wall. And this song and many othera have given me the answers to what makes life tolerable. Sometimes you just gotta not give into emotion and the immediate reaction you have to things. And that includes self observances and everything else. But I hope y'all are doing alright peeps and I hope y'all can understand what I just said. mad love.
This is the song that opened my eyes to rap. Before this i was a ignorant metal head who hated rap. But this song changed everything for me, forever.
