I have had this Atlas copco LFX compressor for around 7 years, bought used and was originally owned by the NHS so has seen some use. I think it is around 15 years old so is doing pretty good.
It has been getting noisier over the last year and recently it started to make a loud squeaking noise and then would randomly seize up, but when stopped it would free up again.
This video will cover disassembly and diagnosis of this issue. Part 2 will cover reassembly. It is worth noting this LFX model appears to have all the same part numbers as the newer LXF version, I used the parts diagram from the LXF as a rough guide as i couldnt find one for the LFX.

How is this dude not getting the amount of views he should. Quality joiner. Skills based and not look at my festool butt joint abilities. Gid joiner is great also. Keep going buddy. Be good to hear you talk though I reckon.
Don't know about anyone else, but when that fan popped off, I jumped. LOL
Fascinating and amazing! Not sure I would have been brave enough to do this but cheaper than a replacement
Outstanding job mate. You’re a legend. Great video
Quality compressor well worth the time and expense to repair thanks
Nice job! I wish I had purchased a large puller instead of breaking my vice. 😅
4:09 Hahahahahahahaha off guard. "CLICK!" Hahahahahahahha. Thank you very much for the information ;)
That nut at 6:13 wasn’t happy…
Ay up, tidy job on the repair. Great to see. May I ask where you got that bearing puller that also acted like a press please? Keep up the great videos.

Henderson Bearings online are a good source.
do we get the piston and bore sleeve?
Hy, cool Video!! I have the same Compressor, it doesn't build good pressure. I should replace the Piston Ring. May you can tell me where i can get the spare parts?? Over here in Switzerland you can only get hole repair Kits for 2700 .- Thanks for your answer!!

Thanks! You might look if the disc valve in the top cover is not damaged or clogged as that would also reduce pressure as it bleeds back. The parts list is here- www.surgevessels.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/LFX-Parts-List.pdf this manual is for the lfx but all the parts i found in my lxf compressor had the same part numbers stamped in them so im sure it is the same. edit, the piston ring doesnt have a part number but im sure i found it before when i was doing the repair, it was about £180, ill keep looking

@@NewYorkshireWorkshop Thanks for your fast answer!!! The disc valve is in good condition and i cleaned it properly, after a test run, it was the old Problem, up to 15Minits until 8bar where reached with the 100l Thank. It must be the Piston ring, is also no fors against the Cylinder wall. Could you tell me where you bought the parts may they will sending it to Switzerland. Sorry for my english, i'm quiet rusty an didn't use it for a longer time. Thanks best wishes

I never actually bought any atlas copco parts, the bearings i changed are just standard sizes. I found the piston ring here- atlascopcoparts.eu/spare-parts/atlas-copco-2901098200 bear in mind this is the LFX part so it would be worth contacting them to check if it will fit the LXF if that is what you have.
Is the liner supposed to be that easy?it looks loose.
Noice.
