I just bought the $349 SELF-PROPELLED model at Harbor Freight for $199 (good timing, it had come back from the Distribution Center and was brand-new in the box). I'm actually pleasantly shocked. It tore through 300sq ft of my neighbor's 2-3ft tall Japanese stiltgrass (microstegium vimineum) without a hitch, EVEN at full throttle (which seemed counter-intuitive but I'm up for a challenge since the manager said I have 5 days to return it). Loved the sound when the machine went into turbo mode-you know this tiger is ready to work! It mulched well without a bag, then I collected a full bag every 2 passes (the stiltgrass hadn't been cut in a while so it really filled the bag up quick). The self-propulsion took some getting used to, but I'm thrilled with this workhorse.

I own a Greenworks and I swear they come out of the same factory. Mines a 40v self propelled & 2 seasons of cutting I love it. Basicly the same machine, once you use a cordless, you'll never go back to gas. When my greenworks dies, I get one of these.

I got a selfpropelled Atlas mower for fathers day 2020, I think its awesome. Very quiet. New blade on dry grass, for a normal weekly cut was superb. Nice even, clean cut. Takes me about 25min to mow my front yard with a 3.5hp gas mower, same time with propelled Atlas, I used 1 bar out of 4 on the batt. Todays cut will take more as its higher and wetter - it wont stop raining, day 9 now, it might be dry enough later to mow.

I bought the push Atlas. It picks up all the debris when you take the block out of the back before applying the bag. The manager says to use only one battery at a time not both together. They're excellent for small yards.

Cool man, thanks for taking the time to make this. Our Neuton mower finally pooped the bed. I replaced the lead acid batteries but it's still kaput. I am bailing out on it. The Atlas seems like a good deal for what you get. I hear what you're saying about the throttle (?) placement but that can be modified. Be safe out there, brosef.

Thanks a ton for talking about the self-propelled functionality. Stuff like that makes a BIG difference. I owned a Toro gas mower for a long time with the "Personal Pace" self-propelled functionality - which is variable. I never thought about how important that was but it was a natural process. As you stopped to turn, it stopped propelling. And I could do all of that with one hand while I wipe sweat from my brow. It's the little things about how you'll actually use it that make all of the difference. The EGO appears to be a great mower but I suspect it will also have a similar issue. You pick a speed and it's using levers. I've started looking at the Toro cordless mower now which also has the Personal Pace feature. May very well end up going with Toro again. Thanks again for the detailed thoughts / feedback.

Interesting review. I appreciate mentioning cons of that mower. Feels like it is working on very tight power control. Most likely because to save battery. 80V 2.5Ah is rather small for 80V mowers. 80V 2.5Ah = 40V 5Ah (as it says on the battery) and it's also the same as two 20V 5Ah batteries connected in series. (80V x 2.5Ah = 40V x 5Ah = 20V x 2 x 5Ah = 200Wh) Running at full power on that battery size would be like initial Dewalt 20Vx2 mower that came with two 5Ah batteries, and it received rather a lot of negative reviews due to short runtime. (Now they include two 9Ah batteries with a bit higher price, and reviews got better) This one has even larger deck than Dewalt, so in order to make longer runtime out of the same amount of energy capacity, they probably had to control power as tight as possible. Maybe it will get bit better with a second battery? It seems to utilize only one battery at a time so it is unlikely, but maybe.

Thanks for the honest review sir. I've been looking at battery operated mowers as I only use mine to trim out the yard, and mow a couple banks that are too steep for a rider. All my previous mowers have been front wheel drive so that was the part of the video that interested me most. Hearing your con about the operation of the drive engage handle told me this one will be a no go for me as I have a lot of turns, and places I have to back up to make this a viable replacement mower. Agreed on awkward SP control bar, and advantage of front wheel drive over RWD on turns! I rigged a momentary pushbutton switch and ziptied it to convenient location on main handle bar. Much more convenient to "let up" with left thumb, approaching a turn, than wrangling with the SP control bar. Just parallel switch to OEM switch, easy mod.

Anyway, the 20% off coupons say they're good on "one single item". So, you probably could have gone back the next day and used another 20% off coupon for the battery and then done the same thing the NEXT day for the charger. (Or maybe it would even be allowable to take your product out to the car and then go right back in to make your next purchase...IDK....or maybe it's a "once per DAY coupon, as well....hmmmm....I'd have to get my magnifying glass out to read all of the fine-print!) My OCD triggers watching you take those corners. You drop nrearly the whole deck over uncut grass when you turn. I would think you leave a lot of uncut blades in those areas when you do that since it doesn't really get a full pass from the blades. Also that long throw on the self propel is a deal breaker for me. Grew up with John Deer rear wheel drive self-propel. Went out and got a used one for my self as an adult. Having the self propel bar within a finger grasp makes it so easy to feather on and off when going around obstacles. Just relax me fingers to stop and squeeze again to start. Never have to rely on my thumbs to reach for it or let go of the handle with one hand to pull it up back up. Almost wonder if you can bend the bar to get it to sit closer to the handle when in the off position.

Bought one last August and it was great. Stored battery inside for winter and went to use it today and it's dead. Hmm I said. Threw it on the charger and won't take a charge. Out of warranty and 110 bucks for the 80v battery. Not looking good so far.

FYI, all of the Lynx stuff is now being tagged as "Clearance" on the HF website. My guess is that the 40v & 80v Atlas stuff will replace all of the 40v Lynx. Also, for those of us with inclines in our yard, the rear-drive is essential. So, that's a major plus for some of us.

don't get the "rapid charger!" slow "trickle charging" is the way to go just like with cars. it only weighs 64 pounds so it would be ideal for tight areas with wheel power off. i want it for my mom's lawn where i can't use the tractor, but she's suspicious about the cost of the battery, LOL!

the greenworks equipment is a much much better deal. harbor fraught is poor value for electric tools as you're about to find out. the lynx stuff is now discontinued. if you bought into it better get some batts quick before they sell out. their 80 volt mower is not a good value. let me explain. you spend $320 on the mower, $110 on the battery which is only 2.5 ah (200 wh or slightly less) and $30 for a charger that takes 2 hours to charge a battery thats only at 50%. thats $460 and you get a 90 day warranty from a company that has a history of dropping product lines after a few years leaving you high and dry for batteries. a greenworks 80v brushless sp mower is $599. for that you get the mower, a 5 ah (400wh) battery and charger that charges the battery in 1 hour or so. you'll need a second battery with the HF to match what you get with greenworks and now youre at $570 ......with a slow charger and a 90 day warranty. greenworks is 4 years on the whole thing including the battery. already the GW is looking better but that's not the whole story..... ....greenworks has 20 tools in that ecosystem. including a snow blower and a snow shovel for you nawtherners. but thats still not the entire story. Greenworks oems other brands like snapper kobalt and powerworks. depending on what tool or battery you are trying to cross swap the tool or the batteries cases can be modded for cross compatibility. i'm in the 60 volt powerworks/snapper ecosystem. i have one snapper battery and 2 power works batts. yesterday i got 2 green works 60v batts and modded them to fit my snapper/power works stuff (paid 60 bucks for 2 batteries at the habitat thrift store). and finally greenworks has been around for such a long time you can buy knock off green works batteries. I don't know how good any of them are but i doubt they will be of lesser quality than the HF battery.

@@nickabel8279 you didn't read a single thing I wrote did you? You don't have a warranty after day 91 you are oow there is no taking it back to harbor freight and then giving you something for free after 90 days. Unless you buy there two year extended warranty and that puts you beyond the price point of a GreenWorks mower and you still don't have the warranty the GreenWorks mower has. Use your head for something other than a hat rack.
