I think AC should make itself more about entertainment and fun on the beach than just gambling. EDM festivals, extreme sports competitions, MMA, water jetpack, etc.

Any time you have Gambling & Games of chance, You have the Mob's Wetting their Beaks in it also. AC Should be driving, The way Los Vegas & Tahoe , Are doing etc.Never hear of any of their Casino's going broke etc.Just being sold from one Owner to another etc.

I liked old AC back in the 70s when I was young. all the piers were kickin, steel pier million dollar pier no casinos. my parents stopped going right after Resorts opened. I've been back since 2012 don't gamble just enjoy the beach and fishing

Casinos are dying because there are too many of them. MA is opening 3 new casinos in the next 3 years-how can these make money? Any business they do will come out of existing casinos.

CT. casino's will be toast in short order after MA gets rolling along. A lot of the help at Foxwoods treats their customers like those employees did to theirs in Atlantic City. Rhode Island is already hurting them. I give Foxwoods about 4 years and they will have their hands out for another cash begging from the Dept. of Interior. No one talks about that bailout they got from the Dept. of Interior years ago.

This video is misleading. Atlantic City still has a lot to offer and needs to diversify their offerings and they should have done that back in the early 2000s when they were on top of their game. It has so much potential. I love going there.

Part of the problem is high room rates.

But it now looks like a renaissance is starting. First the Hard Rock Casino where Taj Mahal used to be and now Ocean Resorts Casino where it used to be Revel. Now the Showboat will break ground for a new Casino building in early 2020.

Yes! My parents grew up visiting and now we visit with our family:) we go every year for our anniversary in the dead of winter too. We've stayed at showboat when it was only rooms and no concierge. Also stayed at Ocean just after it changed hands and name. Can't wait to return again this year and continue to support. It will def have a rebirth. AC for life!

The Casino's destroyed what was once a huge tourist, and family friendly place. The Casino's were supposed to bring in revenue to repair, rebuild and help atlantic city and all they did was bring crime and problems to the city and destroy the place. I hope things can one day return to what they were before the casino's were ever built and the boardwalk and beach become as beautiful and attractive for all to enjoy as they once were in the past.

+Roxanne Ringler Yeah but the problem is that air travel has become soo cheap that families don't have to go to the AC boardwalk to have a good time. why go there when Orlando is only a 200 dollar flight.

I used to visit the U Laza back in the '90s. My wife and I went there several times with friends. There was a charming bar which bordered on the high-roller slot machine area. One lady was playing the $100 machine with those heavy tokens that made a distinctive sound when inserted in the machine; they also made a heavy 'clink-clunk' sound when landing in the tray. I believe that it was set up that way as to the sound being very seductive. Once, can't recall what machine it was, my wife and I received a lucite-encased coin redeemable for $1000 during a slot bonus game. It was pretty exciting since we were playing a $1 machine at $2 a spin. My wife persuaded me to leave and head home after that haul. I have many good memories of Atlantic City in the 1990s in the era prior to The Borgata opening in 2003.

They should make it more like Myrtle Beach maybe like a cross between Vegas and Myrtle Beach and take advantage of the water. Like sunst cruises, deep sea fishing waterfront dining

DTV NJ That's awesome, I know it gets hot out there but I hear since there no humidity it makes it a lot more bearable. On the opposite side of the temperature spectrum; I visited Park City Utah a few years back, and we'd wake up to one degree weather but since it was so dry it felt like a nice 30 degrees haha.

Some of my best family vacations were at The Showboat Casino... I just can't believe it's gone and how much has changed.

Correct me if im wrong but shouldnt atlantic have looked into consistant upgrades like vegas, joining forces with other resorts. Excalibur, mgm, luxor, NYNY. All runs with mgm/mirage resorts. Or perhaps downsize the casinos to a select few such as well West Wendover, NV then the remaining city with prime shopping. I live in Utah and the secret we got is respect. Surrounded by idaho lottery, nevada gaming and wyoming horse betting. Utah actually offers wgat the other states dont. Skiing, historical religious life, and a way of a bew freedom.

But do casinos really help the economy? They do keep people employed but they cause a lot of problems at the same time.

Revel is a beautiful property. What a waste. Had they built something like that in Vegas, they would have made a mint.

If these people where notified that they where going to be laid off like companies are legally supposed to why didn't they start looking for new jobs BEFORE their last day? that's what I did before the place I used to work for shut down.

Such prime real estate and no crowds, in Miami Beach it's crowded year round!

Remove the damn casinos And make it a normal city without crime that roams wild

Atlantic City was always a shithole, but people had to go to gamble if they didn't want to fly to Vegas. Now with nice local casinos all over the east coast there is no reason to go to AC and pay the outrageous tolls in New Jersey.

EVERYONE READ AND REPLY PLEASE! If you have been to AC within the past yr, can you tell me if it is both fun and SAFE to go? Me and my fiance (getting married this Saturday April 8th, 2017) are going there for our honey moon, but I have read a lot of scary stuff about how Atlantic City is now... Plz give advice asap, so if need be I can,change plans. Would lose out on 150 deposit at Caesars Palace but can't put a price tag on being SAFE & SECURE!!!

The Borgata In Atlantic City Is Owned By MGM...

AC will make a comeback it just needs people that are smart enough to bring it back, it has gone down before and the Casinos bought it to life but it needed a lot more than just gambling. The city is a gold mine of endless rich's it just needs imagination, I worked and lived in the city in good and bad times, it will make a comeback.

NOT Completely DONE? This CITY is broken.. It is mostly PPL, that are lured to yhe money but dont want do do their share to uplift it!!

I miss AC!! I loved it in the late 70’s to the mid 90’s!! Miss the Sands, Claridge, Golden Nugget, Showboat, Trump Plaza & the Playboy/Atlantis!! Those were the days!!

Donald Trump was building himself quite a nice little empire in AC back in the 80's. He was doing what he was good at. Namely hiring ace general managers for all of his properties. They ran the casinos beautifully and in harmony with each other. Then the unthinkable happened. All of his top brass were flying back from a boxing match that they were checking out to possibly bring it to AC. The helicopter crashed killing all on board between the Garden State Parkway. Trump instantly lost most of his #1. team. That incident alone was destructive to his AC empire. It changed allot for what otherwise might have been a much different picture today for the city.

Who didn't see this coming down the pike? There are only so many pensioners on so many tour buses with only so much money to feed all these casinos. Every down trodden town has put in a casino. That seemed to be the answer. License to print money.

Are you going to the same Atlantic City I go to? Because I go multiple times a year, both summer and winter months, and in the summer, the beaches are jam packed and the boardwalk and casinos are busy all day. Even in the winter, we stay at Tropicana, it business is by no means slow. I think people need to give this place more credit.

sear shoja Yes Atlantic City has the ocean. However like all the beaches in jersey and New York they are dirty. Not like ocean city in Maryland. Or other beaches on the eastern seaboard. If these casinos would have cleaned up there city like they said they would and comped players who drove hundreds of miles There'd still be in business. Really sad. Too many casinos. They saw it coming but did nothing to help correct it. My wife and l would go about 15 times a year. We lived in Virginia. Feel bad for the employees who lost their jobs. Mike in Virginia.
