People don't even realize how hard it is to be a cornerback, i play wide receiver and i give theses defensive backs mad respect

I feel you and respect that. It's very humbling to play DB. I remember the first time I matched up against a guy who was 6'8 and I'm 5'11....he wasn't thick, but very lean, quick, fast, and could catch. Bro when you're matched up against a guy like that inside the 20 where the field shrinks and then you realized that shit just got real and that the next play might escalate real quick lol. Richard Sherman to me, is a freakish athlete.

MrWalkwaySc2 for the most part, yes. But it's all about position with playing DB. That's why defenses have different packages with and without safety help. Football is broken down to a science/math ect.

Not really... What you see here is wrong. No basic defending that's why they are getting smoked...plus those WRs are superhuman
@kevinbrown8992

+Riddick Barnes then again it's one on one....no Safety or Linebacker help. It's very hard to cover a guy who's quick, fast and tall....with no help what so ever. But then again if you the CB are very quick with your feet, hands and trust what you're looking at you'll be fine. Don't think to much, over analyze or try to over power the WR at the initial point and just read and react, you'll be fine. Being in position is key.

+Nizzy S CB is the hardest position to in my unbiased opinion.....outside of QB and MLB. You the CB have to understand route trees and alignments. If the WR lines up here what "might " he run...oh shit you got twins now, and a RB coming out the backfield.....you have to see it and know it....YOU CAN'T THINK JUST REACT! Oowee bro lol.

NOT REALLY,
some of y'all don't understand how hard it is for a DB to cover a WR one on one. receivers have the advantage because they can break off a route. y'all calling these kids "sorry" and "ass" but yet a lot of these kids are probably going to college for football. stop hating so much and just enjoy the matchups

Shit. DB is one of the toughest positions to play in football
1) DB is the hardest position in football: A) it requires the reaction times of a cat, the speed of a cheetah and a football IQ of 200, miss any of these and you'll get burned everytime against a competent receiver B) who was the QB, because damn he was making some tough throws 👏
@takodafreeman5253
4 жыл бұрын
I'm a db and it's really not the hardest position because in actual football you only have to guard someone for about 5 seconds and there's plenty of help in the inside. But in a 1 on 1 it's almost impossible to guard someone

I never saw the skill in beating a DB 1 on 1 when there is no one else on the field. I've always seen this as completely unfair for DBs lol even shitty receiver can break off the defender with all that space out there.
@toluolaitan916
8 жыл бұрын
I don't think it's unfair at all the, DB's just need to stick to technique and really focus on the receiver to be quick enough to track his cuts. Another thing why I think these dbs get beat is because they let the receiver off to easy. They need to jam them or try to slow them down when playing up or close them IMO this is the biggest factor.
@trevorteel7072
6 жыл бұрын
that the whole point it's a skill drill. If you can hold your own then you have adequate enough skills to play alone on a side with one receiver (displaying the technique of man-on-man defense) which happens often if a defense suspects a db might be weak or the wide receiver is good enough to still catch it
5:08 good effort from db

It’s not easy playing DB none of the dbs are “ass”
crazy dillon mitchell went on to be a starter at oregon and is now NFL
Tre Nixon on fire boi
This drill is tough for DB's, the players I like on here by position: DBs - John Broussard, Isaiah Pryor - best dbs, Broussard is the top one. He has good form, is very competitive, and attacks the ball. WR - Tre Nixon, Ricci Nuckles - Route running, Nixon is the most polished receiver of the group. - Kyle Davis, AJ Brown - Big guys that project well. Davis is very competitive and once he learns the nuances of route running, squaring up dibs, and positioning, he'll be ridiculous.

Jonathan Brown I agree, this drill is(at least should) being used primarily to evaluate WRs. This is the second 1 on 1 video I've watched and I said the same thing in the last. This drill, while necessary, is unfair for DBs.
@jonathanbrown1365
8 жыл бұрын
AJVersatility19 You're 100% right. I coached Wide Receivers at the college level for some years, and really you're trying to evaluate technique. It's assumed that you can beat a DB 1-on-1 without having to read coverage, have more than 5 seconds, and your QB having no pass rush. The reason I picked the receivers I did, is because they show the best skills to translate well. I see that Julian Hicks believes Josh Imortehbebe was the best receiver. He was the best athlete at receiver, and will get picked up based upon his size. However, when you think of receivers that make it long term, they play a lot more like Tre Nixon. Imortehbebe is what we are conditioned to like, the truth is though, his route running needs a lot of work, and against good Defenses, he might win jump balls and all of that, but, he hasn't mastered the route tree. He's limited in what he can do as a receiver. That said, there's a lot you can do with him as an athlete. I like guys that present more options. Tre Nixon is the only one that sets up his routes so nothing looks hard. I'd take him all day. Football is about timing, and trusting your receiver will be where he is supposed to be on time. Nixon will do that.

8:18 good coverage
Can somebody please tell me what happened to Ricky knuckles? I’ve looked everywhere for him and I can’t find him
its always raining every time i've played on that field
Even the best DBs get burned. And everyone sees it. It is mentally tough position to play too. Need amnesia too. Now in my mid-forties... I still remember plays from when I was a teen.
111 looks and runs his routes like deondre Hopkins.
man i wish they had a memphis wr vs db 1 on 1 video...
The should make boundaries since the DB has no over the top help.
Keep in mind the dbs are gonna have a free safety or strong safety on the deep pass and on shallow routes they will have linebackers help out. They aren't gonna be alone
Tre is so good
1 on 1 offense have an advantage it's a big Field where you can cut and change the route if your locked up
DB, most difficult position in football.
I never played db before but alot of coach's always want meto play that spot but I just never know how to play db
See ya there

2:40 ah! Ah! 😲😂😂
it's quite tough for dbs. but the player who has good skill allows only the limited area to receivers.
I know playing DB is tough but damn lol.

Aj brown 🔥
2:40 whattt!!!
DK Metcalf and AJ Brown, jeez who would’ve known they’d be star nfl targets
A.j brown in the league too
most of these corners were looking at the face of the receiver that's another reason why they get there ankles broken you have to look at the hips... also get your heads around dang
2:41 oh my godness
damn some of these boys were good. a few footwork issues, a few holds, but overall that was some great db work. ppl who never played have no idea how shitty an example these drills are compared to real game. my coach called this blind cover. its a true test.
