Atherstone Ancient Shrove Tuesday Ball Game 2022

The Ball Game restarts for its 822nd edition after being stopped for the first time due to Covid restrictions (obeyed by most organisations except Boris own government). Insanity is resumed.
The game is played on Long Street - part of the old Roman Road that formed Watling Street. This was the border between Saxon Britain and the Danelaw after the Viking invasions.

This will never happen in the United States. Too many types of people with different history/background and greedy lawyers waiting for lawsuits. That's what the US is now. Too many sensitive, duplicitous, people and a litigious society.

I agree, but that same litigious mindset is in the UK too now and may see an end to a game that is older than many countries. Covid lockdown stopped the game for the first time in 8 centuries.

And very sensibly, no women are mad enough to chance it. Only the male of the species are this brave. Most of the activity appears to take place without the ball's whereabouts being obvious..

There's nothing 'brave' about this. It's just an excuse for men to be violent. If you notice, it's mostly males between the dumb f**k ages of 16-21 (approx). The age range where you have more testosterone than sense. Plus a few older man who'll _never_ grew up.
