Have to feel for Ian Bishop, Atherton managed a whopping 4 sixes in 115 Tests!
Brilliant podcast as usual,nothing better than sorting the lads uniform out for school in morning with the earbuds in listening to nasser & Athers.
Bishop what a legend! iconic voice of cricket
Bishop was a very underrated bowler in his day lost in the plethora of West Indies fast bowlers of the era. Love his input as a commentator.

i don't think he was underrated. He was actually even more highly rated than ambrose in wi cricket circles. colin croft once said that bishop would have been the best WI pacer ever had it not been for multiple stress fractures. marshall was interviewed during the 88 series in england and said in reaction to an ambrose spell that ambrose was good, but ian bishop would be the holy terror of WI cricket. he was just unfortunate to have serious injury issues

I am a massive fan of the three of you: Atherton for his articulateness, Nasser for his grace and particularly Ian for his charismatic presence. And this was pun intended :)
Ian Bishop - Best cricket commentator in the business.
Atherton hitting a six to Bishop .. No way ! I can only imagine that it was a steepling ball and to an imagined flick by Athers the steeply climbing ball took the top edge and ball went over the boundary behind the keeper and Athers had to be revived because he thought his head came off and had fainted ...
Brathwaite must remember Anderson 500th wicket and learn, he is the experienced man here and needs to show that as captain
I love Ian Bishop. I am glad he is commentating on this series :)
REAL CRICKET IS BACK!!!!🎊
We have to wait till 10/07 for proper cricket, better late than never.
WI should've included Chanderpaul at the head of the order. He was stable enough in the few digs that he's had in Tests

Not much is expected of this West Indies team, so they have an opportunity to surprise.

Jimmy's longevity is an outlier because he is a one-format player. People tend to forget that the bowlers he is up against mostly play 3 formats + franchise cricket . Jimmy , as good as he is, had the benefit of working in cooler climes and sticking primarily to the one format.
@hillbilly3772
25 күн бұрын
He still had what would be almost a full length career whilst playing all three formats when he was younger. He played his first odi in 2002 and his last in 2015 which is a longer stretch than Kevin Pietersen’s test career.
@DJR1409

@nikhiltalgeri5910
25 күн бұрын
@DJR1409 lol... he last played an ODI 9 years back . His last T20 was more than a decade ago. The point being raised is about longevity and not quality. His longevity has DEFINITELY been helped by him being a one-format player
@nikhiltalgeri5910
25 күн бұрын
And so I don't see a Bumrah or a Cummins play at 41 if they continue to play 3 formats + global franchise. Jimmy plays one format, mostly at home, so his longevity is an overrated attribute. He is an all-time great, no doubt, but people talk up the wrong qualities
@DJR1409

@@nikhiltalgeri5910 Central contracts was the key to his longevity. Parking his ODI career after the World Cup helped, for sure.
I’ll process that lolllll
Proper cricket is back🎉🎉🎉🎉
Bold from Nasser and Ather to assume that there is going to be a slight green track with assistant for pace bowlers!!!😌 For me considering how they prepared pitches, it's going to be flat to help their batters style of play!
@jakehowie442

Yes Lords will definitely have prepared a flatter pitch because they’ll want the test to be longer…4 days at least. I’ve bought day 5 so hope so

What a Coincidence! One of the greatest batsman in the history of the game and one of the greatest bowler in the history of test cricket both gets retire against the same team. Hope you people guessed it.
Anderson is an england great, definitely not an international great. His success comes mainly from helpful pitches.

It's totally Jimmy's decision but I felt he should have retired after the ashes this yr. But nonetheless he is a true legend❤❤❤
What about Roston Chase
Anderson had the privilege of playing for England,A country where Test cricket still holds a high regard. That's not the case with rest of the world. So I don't see any other fast bowler playing past 40. Quitting White ball cricket is a major reason for his longitivity. If had played white ball cricket and franchise cricket,he would have already retired by now. I don't think anybody else doing that especially in this era where T20 cricket is the money maker. So I don't see anybody following Jimmy's footsteps. It's too risky in this day and age especially if you're not from England or even Australia.
ENG's greatest bowler Lohman - Blythe - Barnes - Trueman - Botham - Broad - Anderson? Discuss.
White ball cricket is no cricket at all! Time to Test, the king of dis ting.

Potts over Atkinson in the 1st Test definitely
Jimmy has not retired he has been forced out, which is entirely different. Ageism is alive and well in English cricket. Firstly in the Sky Sports Commentary box regarding Botham, Gower and Lloyd, now on the field with Anderson. Come on Jimmy get a 10 wicket match ,then stick two fingers to the lot of them

There is a mention that ECB is crazy, why?? Legend or GOAT depending on your viewpoint it was time for Jimmy to go but as he hung on ECB had to do the right thing. It is better if Jimmy goes out on top against the West Indies then get smashed on the next Aussie tour!! Three years more that is nuts!! I like the Aussie way their legends know when it is time to let go,otherwise you tell me if Shane Warne and Glenn McGrath had a few years left.
