@@AspidZ for its time, 1991 when the UQ was released it was a big step up in technicality, and it pretty much left the foundation for tech death. But by today standards it's not that technical.

@@davidrucareanu4849 id argue this is even more technical than some of the stuff coming out today. sure it doesnt have the lightning fast guitar wankery (which i also love) but the timing changes and rhythms really are what make it so difficult

Roger died in a car crash in Feb of 1991, this must have been one of the last recordings of his genius. These guys set the stage for prog/thrash and built the template and they've never been overtaken as the masters. Small catalog, but it packs a punch.
That drummer is godly. No one is doing anything like that these days.

Wow man.. atheist with Roger Patterson.. this is amazing.. and very rare.. they are one of the original technical death Metal bands ever.. they were way ahead of their time.. and hands down one of the best bands of that time period.. and when Roger got killed that was a serious blow to this band cuz for them to find a replacement was hard I'm sure.. then they found Tony choy.. another killer bass player.. killer video man, thanks for sharing.. cheers..
..so great to see old stuff from the band and of course Roger Patterson - big influence, thank you for all !!

What a legendary band. Nobody make this tipe of crazy music in 1991
It's a shame Kelly got tendinits and stopped playing. But looking at his right hand I can see why. That bent wrist gives me shivers
Classic Old School Tampa Bay Florida Death Metal. Insane talent in musicians. Imagine the crucible of creativity from 1985-1995. "The scene coalesced in the mid-1980s through early 1990s around the output of bands such as Death, Nasty Savage, Deicide, Monstrosity, Morbid Angel, Atheist, Obituary, and others. The producer Scott Burns and the studio Morrisound Recording were also instrumental in developing and popularizing the Florida scene. Some bands which originated outside of Florida, such as Malevolent Creation and Cannibal Corpse, relocated to the state in order to participate in this burgeoning scene." - Wikipedia

Sucks reading how they were pretty poorly received opening up for Cannibal Corpse and the Candlemass tours as openers. NO one was ready for this level of skill & technicality while still retaining being a extremely heavy band. I know other bands like Suffocation & Napalm Death respected and loved Athiest's music. "How chuffed is Roger from Athiest?" former ND drummer Mick Harris said on their 1990 Live Corruption video.
dear god, this sounds better than on lp, can we have more from this show please? RIP Roger !

R.A.V.A.G.E. - (1985-1987). R.A.V.A.G.E. R.A.V.A.G.E означало, ни много ни мало, а Raging Atheists Vowing A Gory End. Unquestionable Presence.
