Grew up Buddhist, became Atheist, got sucked into new age movement and believed I was my own god. I used to make fun of Christians and thought Christians were just a bunch of crazy cultist but as someone who proclaimed to live by every "religion," I felt like a hypocrite for not giving the Bible a shot. But after diving deep into the Bible and something changed within me and I tried to fight it off. I told myself "No way, I will never be Christian, Jesus was just a great teacher like the Buddha." But I was so wrong and long story short, a lot has happened ever since picking up that Bible 2 years ago and I can say that I have changed as a person and I finally understand everything about my life and just life in general. I have never found so much inner peace connecting back to God and I can proudly say that Jesus saved my life and that I love him with the new heart he has given me! Edit: WOW! I love you all, thank you for all the kind words and support. That is why God brought me back to his family! Just to clarify to those people who think this is fake or I am just hopping on the "band wagon," I am 34 years old and I have been on this path since I was 18 years old. I finally gave my life to Jesus when I turned 33! So it was a process to get to where I am! God is great and the Lord is my shepherd!

The word itself "God" implies that there shouldn't be a higher being. One can't simply assume it could be created, let alone if the lore implies he has been around forever.

My condensed answer to "Bad stuff; therefore, no God": First, From the "Tree of the knowledge of good and evil" {Genesis) we are to experience both so that we, of our free will, seek our good God. Second, we are in a temporary tent (says Paul) before we get a new body and go to one of two permanent homes. I want to be in God's home and not the one reserved for Satan.

Paul heard the gospel from Stephen. He is Luke's eye-witness for Acts 7. So, on the road to Damascus, Jesus telling Paul that he is persecuting Jesus changes everything for Paul. Paul is able to see Jesus is the Messiah the prophets spoke of in the Jewish scriptures.

The answer to the next question was "A giant cricket bat" (which is were the "atheist" must start - with life coming from non-life). The answer to the next question was "God. There are many that claim they have a relationship with jesus /god but I cannot see what the difference is between that claim and the other claims regarding what god did/does. Totally untestable claims appear to non believers as just that, claims and assertions with no corroborating evidence. @@ARRAM57 I was using Harry's logic back at him. Just because God doesn't act the way Harry wants Him to - does it therefore mean that God doesn't exist? No. And when Harry accuses God of not caring for starving children, I ask him what he has done about it himself. - Because God does in fact care very much about children. And He repeatedly tells us to *take special care* of widows and *fatherless* in their need - this is in God's eyes about the most important thing we can do. So why blame God, when *we* are not doing what God told us to do?

Which goes for people claiming to have a relationship with their version of a god too. "God cares about children" ,they are just empty words in the absence of any evidence of a god or any evidence of any actions or reaction that has a direct causal connection to your god. A well tweaked fabricated concept that answers every question but explains nothing.

Hemmorrhoids are an (inflammation) signal by the body that you're damaging it by eating the wrong food. I've had hemmorrhoids my whole life and so has my dad and they went away completely when we stopped eating seed oils, sugar and processed carbs following a carnivore, aka, proper human diet.

Not only is there is no such thing as an hemmorrhoid that isnt "troubling", but once you understand what it is and how a high blood sugar as well as other inflammatory compounds from corpokibble poison affect the cells in your body which generate this inflammation (immune response) it becomes self evident even without the personal anecdote. You should start your learning journey from places such as Dr Ken Berry or Dr Anthony Chafee's channels. Lots of great life changing nutritional medical info.

The prophets including Daniel spoke of the time where several world empires would arise and fall including the Babylonian kingdom, Medes and Persians, Roman Empire, and Saladin and the Muslims which went in consecutive order for the past few millennia. The people of Israel becoming a nation after The Holocaust in 1948 (ironically the melting point of gold as God compares Israel to gold that's tested in fire in Zechariah 13:8 and Jeremiah 16:15) exactly how Jesus The Christ said would happen since God us everything to come in The Scriptures and not just because people were working towards as Atheists claim which are impossible for any regular man to predict. Evolution makes no sense when nothing has evolved after thousands of years of human history and supposedly the first creature came from primordial sludge several millions of years ago funny how they won't believe that God an Eternal Almighty Spirit Being created us from the Earth) which came from a supermassive expansion of matter at high temperature that inexplicably created everything in the known universe that supposedly came from nothing billions of years ago. How did the organs evolve before there were bones, skin, substance and how did any creatures see before eyes evolved? I've studied evolution and abiogenesis in the past and read Darwin's " Origin of The Species" and I'm not convinced of macro Evolutionary biology whereas I accept micro Evolution like speciation and adaptation but not macro Evolution because there's no evidence of it nor clear observable examples of it where living creatures evolve into other kinds of species plus the fact that fossils don't show evidence of evolution and genetic entropy rules out evolution. The question begs how did two genders evolve from a common ancestor with a perfectly hospitable and sustainable environment with breathable oxygen and resources to survive on inexplicably? Atheists have the burden of proof to explain how everything came to be and why our existence is possible without the Existence of God from an godless perspective just as Christians have to provide evidence of God's Existence and the validity of His Word. Evolution requires life to already exist in order to take any effect in living organisms so it doesn't account for the existence of Life and reality. Also evolution is impossible because it goes against The Law of entropy and the second Law of thermodynamics because evolution makes things better whereas nothing continues to get better but decays and turns to absolute destruction in the end. God's Existence is made perfectly known and observable in the universe as demonstrated in His Handiwork in the intelligently designed manner that Creation was made, human consciences and consciousness historical and archaeological evidence of God's Word being valid history, fulfillment of Bible Prophecies God in His Holiness and Righteousness could give us what we deserve in Hell for our since but He's merciful to give us free will to choose to accept or reject His gift of salvation by grace through faith in His Son Jesus. Also....the world has fallen, our genes are decaying. We are NOT the beautiful physical specimens we were at Creation. I can't understand why people don't see that. The only thing that keeps us living longer in the vast majority of cases is drugs and surgery and even then, in our much-lauded longer life span we are plagued by the incurable curse of dementia.

I know this from personal experience. It is because they are stuck in love of their intellect. It is the bits of the fruit from the knowledge of good and evil. The mind is not life, the heart is, that is where Jesus resides, so that is why it sounds devoid of life. They have not connected the two. They have both, hence why so many agnositcs and atheists can not bear the suffering in the world. They are not heartless. They know there is a God, they are just angry with Him. or why would they spend so much energy focused on him? They do not beleive they will destroy Christianity with their arguement, they are argueing because they desperately want to be proved wrong. For me science was one of the things that change my mind. The split particle experiment where the action of a particle changes based on whether it is being observed or not. So the mere act of observation changes the action of observable phenomenon. Also consider the placebo effect where beleif can change the state of cells in the human body. It's not rocket science. 😊.

Dawkins himself admitted he doesnt care abkut evidence, no amount of evidence could convince him of God. That dismantles the initial reason for Atheism being lack of evidence. Its not that.

More to the point, Dawkins details what evidence wouldn't convince him that God is real. 1. Touching God. 2. Meeting Jesus face to face. 3. Stars spelling it out in multiple languages. 4. Angels leading a procession of Jesus's return. 5. Anything that leads to such conclusions should be ignored, and the science paid lipservice. 6. And ignore anything written, eyewitnessed or crowd witnessed by anyone, anywhere, ever. I think that about summarised his stand. There's more, but that'll do where his head is at, in his own words.

God has to do it. They are literally dead unless He causes them to search for Him, but as long as they have a pulse they have the possibility. The answer is they should humble themselves to see if they are of the elect and read his Word and go to a Bible teaching Church. God will cause them to conform to His image if they are His. ❤

Lennox misunderstands the premise of “who created God?” You have to establish that God wasn’t created. Just saying he wasn’t created isn’t enough. You have to give a grounding for that assertion. If you can’t answer “how do you know God isn’t created?” Then you can’t assert that he isn’t created

All creation, every act, is understood as a change over time. Before this, now that. But The Big Bang is the beginning of time as we understand it. Our understanding of everything breaks down before the moment of the Big Bang. There can be no creation without a change over time, which needs time to exist but there is no time. So what could have caused the Big Bang? 1. A creator god 2. Another natural process similar to a multiverse concept 3. A constant repetition of expanding and contracting of the same universe. 4. Something else that hasn’t occurred to me (who am I to say I’m capable of coming up with all the possible answers?) 2. You’re claiming that a creator God is the beginning of everything. Here are the issues with that. 2.1 how do you know which god it is that is the creator god? since there are many competing ideas of god. Only one can be true or they can all be false. Those are the two options. 2.2 how do you know that the buck ends with your god and that it doesn’t end with another God that created him, but is not expressed in the Bible? 2.3 what’s the problem with saying “I don’t know. But I’ll make a conclusion after I see more conclusive evidence.”? What you guys are doing are just arbitrarily saying “this god is where the buck stops because it makes sense to me. I must be right.” Don’t you see how I arrogant that is? Why not be humble and accept that this is beyond our current understandings as humans? Truth is an asymptote. The right of the line ignorance. The left knowledge. Doesn't matter whether you are crossing the street or accessing your soul you divide ignorance by 2. Many Christians didn't meet the physical Jesus but they believed. Many also believed Jesus because they meet the risen Christ so they believed. I'm one of those who meet the risen Jesus.I meet Him yet I still doubt it.But I had many more encounters with Him so there's nothing I can do but to believe because Christ didn't stop to convince me He is the Son of God.

The key to why this is relevant is in who Paul was and who he became: Paul (at the time called Saul) was a devout Jewish Pharisee that considered Christians to be blasphemers and he persecuted and attacked Christians for their beliefs. He was in a position of power and wealth, set up to be an influential figure in his society for life. Why in the world would someone like that have a complete change of heart and start proclaiming the gospel to the point of being stripped of his status and wealth, thrown in prison, and eventually killed all because he claimed to have seen Christ risen from the dead? Perhaps he actually saw the risen Christ? Not only him, but many others over a period of 40 days including 500 Jews at one single time saw Jesus risen from the dead. And that is only one of many evidences. The truth is that Jesus Christ is risen and he loves us, put your faith in him and be saved!

@@Gorpmeat If he existed, and that change occurred, no one knows for sure. - It could be because he hallucinated and went crazy. - He could have been in a fragile moment and simply adopted that as true because it made him feel better or special. - It may be that he was misunderstood - It was a story invented later by biased believers. That is to say, there are many possible explanations, and more reasonable ones, than appealing to a supernatural being. As I told you at the beginning, no one knows for sure, but if believers want to establish the evidence of Paul's change as the extraordinary intervention of a god, then they must show extraordinary verifiable evidence. Your other paragraph is ad-popolum. Keep in mind that the Bible was written long after the supposed miracles, and edited by obviously biased believers. Not very different from the heroic wonders of powerful warriors that their people tell as true to increase national pride.

The atheist in this debate is just a poor debater. He opens up opportunities for Lennox to capitalize on. However, Saul/Paul didn't 'meet Jesus', he had a vision, a hallucination, a dream, brought on by any of a number of things. Perhaps an excess of wine, perhaps too little water and too much sun, whatever, combined with his history of abusing Christians. Such things happen to people even today, they hit a moment in their lives they realize they need to change and they make a change. And a religious zealot is going to continue to be a zealot, but they might change teams. Much like a recovering addict (a kind of zealotry) will become a very annoyingly dedicated religious person depending on which religious group helped him through his addiction recovery process. And the creation aspect in this discussion is similar, the atheist on stage made a very poor presentation for what is essentially the problem of evil. If evil exists your god cannot. Christians have a number of responses to this beat into them, ranging from 'mysterious ways' to 'who said god is always loving' to 'god allows evil to help us grow'. None of which make sense but those are examples of common responses. And I say they don't make sense because in a system where you have an all powerful, all knowing god setting things up there is no need for humans to learn through such pain and hardship, it could simply imbue us with the needed knowledge and skills and disciplines from the start. We don't build cars such that they need to hit a few curbs in just the right way before they will go down the street properly. So this debate is simply Lennox getting handed an opponent that isn't very good at what he does. Debating is a skill, this is like the sign behind them says, just a conversation, one that appears to be sest up to make Lennox seem like a genius. Let's see how he does against someone else, like Sam Harris perhaps, or Stephen Fry. We lost Hitchens who would have sent Lennox away in tears.

There was some kind of audience vote and they sided with Lennox but even Lennox says in this clip to not put any stock in such votes. Hitchens remained an atheist though so clearly he was not convinced. Even so, I was not aware these two had faced off, but my only impressions from the Lennox talks I have seen is he is something of a panderer, and a bit of a greased pig in terms of being skillful at not allowing himself to get pinned down. Debates are funny things, They aren't about sorting out the truth, they are all about strategy, facts and truth are optional.

If you accept the Biblical testimony of Paul's meeting with Christ, Paul was blinded at the meeting of Christ and regained his sight when he met with the person that Christ told him to meet. So, it's not so simple as him having a hallucination, or being dehydrated or drunk. Either it happens as stated or the testimony is a complete falsehood

If that is the case then what is the point in bringing up the idea of Hitchens debating Lennox in the first place? What does Hitchens in theory being a better debater have to do with the truth at all if truth is not found in debates?

It seems that if you accept the reality of how we learn, through our senses which allow us to draw conclusions that are verified by continued experiences, then you cannot expect that experiences which transcend sensible experience ( how the mind can create images and sounds, based on former real experiences, that do not exist in the real world) are explainable based on experience alone. The mind has to abstract what it learns from sensible experience and create a coherent idea which is refined more and more through future experience. Just as we have built up a better picture of the world than the one available to Newton and Galileo so does the experience of Christians who have experienced the 'resurrection' through faith in a communion with the Church.

The funny thing about the title of this video is that it's the Christian, not the atheist, who accidentally refutes the argument for God's existence. As Maddox asserts starting here, 5:00, asking the question "who created X" presupposes that X was created. He seems to realize that the same falacious reasoning applies to the Christian mantra that "if God doesn't exist, then who created the universe?" This ofcourse similarly presupposes that the Universe had to be "created".

I was thinking the same thing.

I have always been a natural skeptic. I grew up Anglican, rejected it as invalid at a young age, became an atheist, then evolved into a Christian based on evidence. Given enough time and an open mind, one cannot escape ultimately realizing the reality of God. Finally, that journey leads to the shocking fact that God Himself became man in the person of Jesus Christ.

@@friisteching3433 initially, an American Indian teacher opened my mind to spiritual beliefs. I explored religions for awhile, skeptically at first. I visited a Christian church, tried a prayer… and Jesus showed up! I got zapped like St.Paul on the road to Damascus. Since then, it’s been one proof upon miracle after another. It was all God doing it, not me.

Blaise Pascal, the wager guy, lived in a time and place in which not being a Catholic got you shunned from polite, influential society. And being a vociferous atheist, could earn you a public torture execution - not pleasant. France was a Catholic country fighting a religious war and winning on the Protestant side. Religion was probably at least as important as party politics is today. The book of his thoughts that was published posthumously only mentions the wager, after it absolutely rejects all the existing and accepted logical proofs of god and the prospect of ever having a logical proof for god. So it is ironic that people argue both the wager and some logical reason that god must exist.

For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day. (2 Timothy 1:12, KJV)

We don’t find evidence to prove a claim we have made up in our minds. The empty tomb, and Jesus appearing to his apostles IS evidence that Jesus is who he displayed himself to be. The apostles, and Mary did not use confirmation bias to seek positive evidence for a claim they were trying to create. The evidence came to them, literally. Please understand that distinction. The apostles, and a couple of woman did not actively search for evidence to prove a claim, the evidence came to them.

I find it hard to believe the source. You don't have "Jesus appearing to his apostles", you have gospels saying Jesus appeared to them. Thier words could be wrong. Romans did not usually give out criminals a proper tomb, but instead discarded in mass graves. Why should the gospel be believed when it goes against what we know of Roman tradition?

​@@friisteching3433 you don't know enough about Roman history. They often respected burial rights of other cultures. Especially in the far flung sections of the empire. For multiple reasons - not the least of which was simply pragmatic. Religeon and governance goes hand in hand. Even today: and You don't want an entire occupied culture rebelling cuz you didn't let them buttery their dead. This event in particular was Quite the Ordeal and considered an 'internal matter' of the Jews.. ie. It was a high profile case just like ours today when such trials happen. Also he wasn't a criminal of Rome - he was a criminal of the Jews for being a heretic. The Roman's were merely the executioner since they were the local government. It was the jews that wanted him strung up and this the're again.. an internal matter and what they do with the body is no concern of theirs. So much so they even hastened the crucifixion by stabbing the man so that they could start their rites before sunset. This was quite common for other religions to have their burial rites respected in many cases especially outside of lowgrade common-criminals.

Don't forget, to have "confidence" in something is to have faith based off evidence. Confidence from the Latin: con fide... "with faith".

He says his beliefs in Christianity is evidence based, but I never see those evidence for it, I hear them talk alot and make claims, but hard evidence I never see. Maybe I'm just not intelligent enough to understand what they're trying to say. Another thing I struggle with is why Christianity? I'm not opposed to the idea that a divine eternal being or something created everything but for me that creator doesn't have to do anything with Christianity, why Christianity and not other religions? Anyways I'm just curious about these things and trying to understand how people belive in one thing and not the other. I'm not religious but I still enjoy your content, good work 👍

One of the things that surprised me which isn’t talked about much is how much archeological evidence there is for the biblical stories. And the scrolls of the books of the Bible are ancient, verifiable and unique. (There are other contemporary writings that corroborate similar events) So if those are real I guess it would point to at least stories in the Bible being founded in reality. That is a starting point that no other religion has - except Judaism. Then of course Christianity comes out of Judaism as Christ is foretold all the way through the books of the Old Testament. Then there is the historicity of the existence of the person of Jesus and this is well documented, more so than any other historical figure of that time (check out “Evidence that demands a verdict”). But in the end the only way to really know is to take the risk to humbly and open heartedly ask Jesus to come into your heart. The thing that happens after that is what Christians struggle to make sense of to people who have it accepted Jesus. It is not really possible to describe what it is like to ‘meet Jesus’. But people who do often have their hearts and minds and lives transformed - and that is hard to explain from just an ordinary belief. I hope that helps a bit, I appreciate your honest search and fully understand the questions you have as these are all questions that I have had too (and more!). But for what it’s worth, I encourage you to reach out to Jesus, talk to him about it even if it feels weird at first. If he is real, he will answer. That is what I and millions of others have discovered. In the end it is not external evidence but internal that makes the change. Best wishes 😊

That is the reason every man must work out his own salvation. We can't just rely on other experiences. We are to testify of what God has done in our own lives. Then it is up to you what to do with that information. Paul even states that we must test everything and hold fast to that which proves true. There is a reason the scientific method came from biblical concepts. God is not afraid to be put to the test.

I once drank wine with Michael Ruse when he visited Stellenbosch University a number of years ago. He was really genuine and inspiring. I appreciate that he is more respectful to his christian opponents than his contemporaries are.

"there is no other solution to the big death problem" - Yeah making up a magical afterlife is an easy 'solution'. Lots of religions have done that. You're basically laying out that that major argument for your religion is that it makes you feel better about our end. That really isn't a convincing argument. It's based on feelings.

Does he believe in his own consciousness based on physical evidence? What about the number 7? Naturalists are so fundamentally flawed on their epistemology that I can't fathom how they account for things like abstract entities, supervenence, or consciousness. I have read many books on the subject and I have yet to find a philisophacal argument that accounts for these things.
